Irene Bryant Wilkerson, age 82, of Macclenny, Florida, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Frank Wells Nursing Home, surrounded by her family's prayers for her healing. Their prayers were answered with perfect healing when Jesus took her home to join other loved ones long since passed. Born in Moniac, Georgia, to Mary Etta (Crews) and Jake O. Bryant, she had lived in Baker County for most all her life. Irene was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who devoted her life to the things she felt were the most important to her. Her service to God as a long-time member of Faith Baptist Church, taking care of her family, and service to her community with over 20 years as a Home Health Care Provider with the Baker County Council on Aging were at the top of her list. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert, George, David Jr. , and Lonnie Bryant; sister, Kay; daughter, Shirley Wilkerson; son-in-law, Weir Barton; and her beloved husband of 30 years, Stonewall "Jack" Jackson Wilkerson. Survivors include her son, Hugh Wilkerson (BJ) of Glen St. Mary; daughter, Barbara Barton of Macclenny; brothers, Jimmy, Curtis, and Roland Bryant; sisters, Carol Covington, Mary Ann Whitehead, Leona Griffis, and Dot Smith; grandchildren, Stewart, Tiffany, Rhoda, Ethan, and Hannah; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Torran Dismuke and Brother Stew Barton officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Mr. Mitchell Timothy " Tim" Starling , age 77, of Macclenny, FL passed away Sunday, November 26th following a tragic accident. Mr. Starling was a lifelong resident of Baker County, FL and was a member of the Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church. He was a graduate of the University of Florida where he obtained a degree in physical education and also attended the University of North Florida where he earned a Master's Degree in Educational Administration in 1974. Mr. Starling was a teacher at the Baker County High School where he also coached football and baseball. He later became the Superintendent of the Baker County School System from 1976 to 1996. He was a Dean at the Baker County Middle School until his retirement. Mr. Starling loved his family and was very proud of all of their accomplishments. He enjoyed golf, cooking, serving others, and the Florida Gators. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Maebelle Smith Starling and one sister, Nora Starling. Mr. Starling is survived by his loving wife of almost 57 years, Martha Starling: two sons, Shay Starling (Nancy) of Keystone Heights, FL and Brett Starling (Jenni) of Glen St. Mary, FL: one sister, Betty Meek of St. Simons Island, GA. Three grandchildren, Kameron Stricklin (Zach) of St. Augustine, FL, Karsyn Starling of Satsuma, FL and Kanon Gonzalez of Glen St. Mary, FL also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Starling will be held at 10:30 A. M. , Monday, December 4th at Christian Fellowship Temple with Elder David Crawford and Elder Michael Green officiating. Amanda Ann McMahan, age 30, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 23, 2023, from an automobile accident. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on September 3, 1993, the youngest daughter of Ernestine Ann (Evans) and Dennis Ray McMahan, and had lived in Baker County for the past 22 years. There are not enough words to describe this vivacious young woman. Sweet, caring, full of life, doesn't begin to paint a picture of how she could light up a room with her loving, cheerful disposition. Amanda was a CNA. The care and comfort she provided in her profession extended beyond the patients she helped. It was shared with her co-workers as well. A wonderful daughter, amazing aunt, and trusted friend, her light will still quietly shine in the hearts of the people she touched. She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis R. McMahan. Survivors include her mother, Ernestine McMahan of Macclenny; brother, Dennis James McMahan (Emma) and sister, Amber Godwin (Kary) both of Sanderson; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as Amanda's four legged furry canine companion, Billy. Catherine "Ollie" Clarke Rushing, age 73, of Macclenny, Florida, left this cold world and joined her family on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Cathy was born on May 22, 1950, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Jacquiline (Seagel) and Major James S. Clarke II. Cathy grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, and graduated from A. C. Flora High School. She spent most of her adult life in Florida: Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra Beach, Flagler Beach, and Macclenny. Cathy received her RN nursing degree from (then) Florida Junior College in Jacksonville. Her jobs included the old Riverside Hospital, the Jacksonville Mental Health Center, and others. Being a nurse was all Cathy wanted to do in her life, and she was wonderful at it. No one was ever prouder to be a nurse than "RN Cathy. " She was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother, James S. Clarke III. Cathy leaves behind two incredible friends, Micky and Steve Houston of Glen St. Mary; a special nephew, Paul Thomas Gaye of Richmond, Virginia; an extraordinary daughter, Dr. Jill L. Rushing of Raleigh, North Carolina; and her beloved husband with 53 years of incredible memories, Randall L. Rushing of Macclenny. Carolyn Rhoden Manning (Nana), age 80, of Macclenny, Florida was welcomed into heaven on Wednesday, November 15, with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Manning was a lifelong resident of Macclenny, Florida. She attended the Macclenny Church of Christ and was a devoted member where she met many lifelong friends. If you knew Mrs. Manning, you knew she was an avid and talented painter. She also enjoyed traveling, going on many camping trips throughout her life and bringing her grandchildren along for the memories. She was usually accompanied by her dog, Prince, who was her companion and best friend. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, always claiming she was never cheating. Most of all, she was known to enjoy time with her family and especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She will be missed dearly by many people. Mrs. Manning was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart, father of her children and love of her life for 27 years, Cleveland Rhoden, Jr. She is also preceded in death by her husband and travel partner, Robert T. Manning Sr. and granddaughter, Logan Danielle Wilson. She is survived by her three children Rosa Wilson of Macclenny, Florida, Pam (Bubba) Harris of Taylor, Florida and Grover (Mandy) Rhoden of Folkston, Georgia; two step children, Kelly (Doyle) Boatwright of Port S. Lucie, Florida and Robert "Terry" (Carrie) Manning, Jr. of Sevierville, Tennessee: brother, Roger (Glenda Faye) Raulerson of Taylor, FL; two sisters, Lynn (Randall) Taylor of Taylor, FL and Annette Manning, of Glen St. Mary, FL; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Kaitlyn) Harrell, Clint (Jessie) Rhoden, Colby (Sam) Rhoden, Sarah (Brett Ducker) Harrell, Cameron (Kylee) Wilson, Kierston Boatwright, Hunter (Torah Heron) Wilson, and Chase Rhoden; and five great-grandchildren, Beau, Sloane, Gentry, Colt, and Cricket. Ms. Burnice Jean Byrd, age 87, of Macclenny, FL passed away Friday, October 27th at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Macclenny, FL to the late Londa and Lillie Pierce Thrift and was a lifelong resident of Baker County, FL. Ms. Burnice was a graduate of Baker County High School, Class of 1954 and worked as a bookkeeper for L. C. Shave Timber Broker for many years. She was a member of the Macclenny Church of Christ and loved playing cards and scrapbooking. Ms. Burnice found joy in living a simple life, watching birds from her front porch, tending to her plants and cherishing her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her late husband, Travis Albert Byrd, Jr. , and her son in law, Billy Pittman.
