On February 18th, 2024, the Lord called upon Rudy H. Garza Sr to the eternal kingdom. Rudy had a humorous, kind, and friendly personality who was always willing to help anyone in need.He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who he adored and cherished every moment he got to spend with them.Rudy enjoyed working as a truck driver for oil rigs, which he did for over 18 years and spending his time outdoors. He was born in Lubbock, Tx, to David Garza and Nicolasa Hernandez.He is survived by his wife Rebecca, his two sons Rudy Jr (Samantha) and John David (Kristina), and his three grand children Elena, Cristian and Alora. His mother Nicolasa Casildo, his siblings Roger Hernandez (Emma), Susan Torrez (Fernando), Ray Garza, Beatrice Sanchez (Floyd Jr.), Margaret Hernandez (Daniel Aguilar), Henry Garza, and several nieces and nephews. He will be reunited with David Garza, his father, and his Grandparents, Anastacio and Ysidra Hernandez.He will be laid to rest on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024 beginning at 1pm at Shaffer Funeral Home in Grape Creek, Texas.

Eugenio Saldana Rubolcaba, age 77, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 19, 2024. He was born in Marked Tree, Arkansas, on September 30, 1946, the beloved child of Jose Rubolcaba and Concepcion Saldana.Eugenio was a pillar of strength and love in his family. Devoted to his wife of fifty-three years, he and Agustina Rubolcaba raised a son, Jimmy, and together, they crafted a life with cherished memories. Eugenio was known for his honesty, fairness, and unwavering work ethic. Juggling multiple jobs simultaneously, he worked as a maintenance man, electrician, and janitor, He took pride in providing for his family.Affectionately referred to as "Papa" by his grandchildren, Eugenio had a big heart and enjoyed helping people as much as he could. Protective and caring, he leaves a legacy of warmth and kindness.Eugenio was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Rubolcaba and Concepcion Saldana, and sisters Maria Rubolcaba and Maggie Cruz. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Agustina Rubolcaba; son, Jimmy Rubolcaba; grandsons, Justin Hunter Robolcaba and Zach Wilder Robolcaba; sisters, Rachel and Anita; a dear family friend, Angelia Motes, and numerous other loving family members and friends.Visitation will be held 3-8 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Shaffer Funeral Home, 8009 U.S. 87 Service Rd, San Angelo, TX 76901.

Joe Don Weaver

Joe Don Weaver (69) passed away at his home in San Angelo, Texas, on February 16th, 2024, after a battle with mantle cell lymphoma. Joe was born to Jack and Dorothy Weaver in Hereford, Texas, in 1954. Growing up on his family’s farm, Joe developed a lifelong love of music, history, and humor. Joe is survived by his wife, Linda; their two daughters, Joi and Anne; his sister, Mary Ruth Baird; and other nieces, nephews, and extended family members.Joe attended West Texas A&M University where he met Linda and the two were married in 1977. Although his degree was in radio communications and he worked a variety of jobs in radio and sales, Joe found a true calling when he began working at the Deaf Smith County Library in Hereford, Texas. In library work, Joe discovered that what he liked best was helping people. When he became the director of libraries in Moore County, he passionately pursued using the library as a means of helping the people he encountered.Joe retired from library work and dedicated himself to volunteering in a variety of ways. He was active with Shannon Hospital Auxiliary, Fort Concho, Lions Club, Vitalant Blood Center, and the San Angelo Symphony, the latter leading him to regularly performing at nursing homes, retirement centers, schools, and churches.Joe was a truly unforgettable character, as anyone who knew him can attest. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh. A man with a quick smile and a quicker wit, he often described himself as an entertainer (and his friends and family were often entertained!) He is remembered for his resounding laugh and warm heart.Joe Weaver’s memorial service will be held at Southland Baptist Church, 4300 Meadow Creek Trail in San Angelo, Texas, on Tuesday, February 27th, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Terry Mikeska Foundation, East Angelo Lions Club, Water for All, Fort Concho, or similar organizations of your choice.

ReelWilliam Alford Reel, 85, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 17, 2024.Services will be Thursday, February 22, at 10 a.m. at Cross Road Assembly of God Church with the Reverend Steve Hamm officiating. Interment will follow at Pioneer Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.William “Bill” was born April 21, 1938, in Bailey, Texas, to William Ralph Reel and Esta Mae Owens Reel. Bill grew up in Littlefield where he married Lillie Ann Bingham on December 17, 1957. Bill was a provider and worked for many years as a licensed plumber before he retired in the late 90’s. Working with many companies over the years, Bill traveled building hospitals, prisons, and other large commercial projects. Bill was always willing to give a job to those who were willing and needed work, as well as taught many the plumbing trade, including both of his sons. Known to family and friends as “Tot,” he was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and loved spending time outdoors fishing and “piddling” in his shop.He is proceeded in death by his parents; his siblings, Freddie Reel, Betty Jean Bell-Scarlett, Alice “Tootsie” Terry, Elsie Faye Haugland, Frank Reel, Mary Reel, and Rita Ann Stevens; his wife, Lillie; and daughters, Tina Cooper and Lisa Evans.Survivors include his children, Billy Kay Chapman and Scott Reel both of San Angelo, and Charlia Jones and her husband, Chuck, and Freddie Reel all of Eldorado; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be his sons, Scott Reel and Freddie Reel; and grandsons, Dustin Reel, Matthew Reel, Brian Reel, and Austen Megarity.

Joe Price Maddox

Joe Price Maddox passed away at the age of 83 on February 18, 2024, in San Angelo, Texas, surrounded by his family. During his extended six-year battle with throat cancer he showed greatstrength, perseverance, and an unwavering positive attitude. Joe lived his life as a cowboy, and in 1971, expanded the Maddox Ranches built by his father, James Daniel “Jimmie” Maddox and his grandfather, Joseph Price Maddox, from Mitchell County to Nolan County, and into New Mexico. He was the Ranch Manager of the West Ranch in Ozona, Texas, for Holistic Management International from 2000-2014. He continued his ranching when he and Peggy moved to Hermleigh, Texas, in 2014. Joe met the love of his life, Peggy Sue Barnes Maddox, at age 14 in Sweetwater, Texas. They were married in 1960 and enjoyed 63 years of marriage. Joe attended Texas Christian University in 1958 and was a member of the freshman football team. He transferred to Texas Tech University in 1960 graduatedin 1963 with a degree in Animal Husbandry. Joe is survived by his wife, Peggy, and their children, Marjori Maddox Krebs and Jim Dalton Maddox and families. Marjori is married to Paul Krebs. Their daughter Taylor is married to Kaleb Potter; their children are Caroline Olivia and Preston Maddox. Their son is Jacob Price Krebs. Their son Jim Dalton Maddox is married to Gretchen Bradfield Maddox. Their daughter Morgan Marie Brooks and her husband Parker Brooks have a daughter, Savannah June. Dalton and Gretchen’s daughter Amanda Macall is married to Kyle Compton; they have a son, Olsen Gene. Dalton and Gretchen’s daughter Mason Elizabeth Davila is married to Cutter Davila, and they have a daughter, Callie Reese. Dalton and Gretchen’s son is William Dalton Maddox. Preceded in death by his father James Daniel “Jimmie” Maddox in 1971, his mother June Allen Maddox in 2000, and his brother Jim Ty Maddox in 1971. Joe loved to ranch, play golf, listen to Willie’s Roadhouse, enjoy a good meal with good company, cheer on the Dallas Cowboys, and dance with Peggy in the kitchen on Sunday mornings. He was a caring, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfatherwho never met a stranger, and was known to call Mrs. Allen’s Fried Chicken to see when they would be serving apple cobbler.He taught us how to live a life full of fun, love, family, appreciation, and relationships. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Joe Price Maddox to the Mitchell County Stock Show Association, P. O. Box 657, Colorado City, Texas, 79512. Gilberto C. Solis, 81, of San Angelo, Texas passed away on Thursday February 15, 2024 surrounded by family. He was born on November 29, 1942 in Brady, Texas to Eduardo and Adela Solis. Gilbert worked for many years in fabricating for Wendland Manufacturing, specializing in Quality Control. He went on to marry Sofia Zapata and the two had five children during their 60 years together. Gilbert was a loving family man who enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, camping, and his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He will be dearly missed. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo and Adela Solis; brothers, Ramon Solis, Guadalupe Solis, Martin Solis, and Paublo Solis; sisters, Enriqueta Solis, Maria Ramos, and Lydia Solis; grandson, Jacob Solis; and great-granddaughters, Addilyn Pena and Stratlyn Dohn Pitcock. Left to cherish Gilbert’s memory are his beloved wife of 60 years, Sofia Solis; children, Richard Solis, Mario Solis, Cindy Hernandez and husband Jenio, Sebastian Solis, and Edward Solis; 15 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory are his sister, Elida Pena, and numerous nieces and nephews. A rosary for Gilbert will be held at 6 PM on Tuesday February 20, 2024 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday February 21, 2024 at Johnson’s Funeral Home with interment to follow at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers are Braydon Pitcock, JB Solis, Michael Solis, Mario Cruz Solis, Timothy Hernandez, Alyssia Solis, Aaron Solis, and David Solis. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Rico Solis, Steven Solis, Matthew Hernandez, Lisette Hernandez, Lindsey Pitcock, Gabriel Solis, Jolie Solis, Jordyn Solis, Traegen Pitcock, Granger Pitcock, Avery Pena, Ayvin Pena, and Jacob Solis. The Solis Family would like to thank Meals on Wheels, Angels Care Home Health, the Allen Family, and the Calusio Family for their kindness and care they’ve shown Gilbert and his family.
