| | | Ida Lee "Cookie" Pollard was born on March 23, 1931 in Kansas City, Mo. to Emmett and Helen (Hicks) Cook. She graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City. In 1952 she married Frank Pollard, Jr. , and they became parents of three children. They lived in Mound City for a few years before his death in 2009. Ida passed away at her Mound City home on June 16, 2022 at the age of 91. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Emmett Cook and Helen Toellner; and sisters, Euladeen Digges, Elloise Colvin, and Jeanne Armstrong. Survivors include her children, Sharon (Pollard) Sellars of Mound City, Michael (Diane) Pollard of Independence, Mo. , and Mark (Carol) Pollard of Kansas City, Mo. ; eight grandchildren, Kathy Martinez (Nate Peery), Maggie Sellars, Christopher (Amy) Pollard, Nathan Pollard, Vanessa (Nicholas) Gomez, Travis Pollard (Lauren) Bruce, April (Chris) Marino, and Jeff Pollard (Eryn Campbell); 11 great grandchildren, Victoria (Casey) Schmidt, Mallorie (Ruben) Garza, Brandon Martinez, Andrew, Noah, and Grace Sellars, Landyn, Mariah, Henry, and Kassandra Pollard, and Elliott Marino; and two great-great grandchildren, Scarlett Rose and Cooper Schmidt. Ida Lee was a member of the First Christian Church of Mound City. She was an excellent tailor and an avid gardener and wine maker. Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Mrs. Pollard has been cremated under the direction of Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City, and will be inurned at Mount Washington Forever Cemetery in Independence, Mo.
