Lewiston, Maine--Ida Levesque, 75, Born October 28th, 1947, in Skowhegan Maine, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 6th, 2023, at the Androscoggin Hospice House after a hard-fought decade-long battle with clear cell renal carcinoma. Ida was born to Donat F Begin and Lena (Letourneau) Begin and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1966. She married Paul Levesque on September 2nd, 1967, and celebrated 56 years of marriage a few days prior to her death, with Paul by her side. Ida retired in May of 2012 from Hannaford's first flagship store #265, in Lewiston, as the Human Resources Director, after 28 years. She is survived by; her husband Paul of 56 years; daughter Amy (Dr. Philip) McLean and their children Jennifer (Seth) Boucher and Matthew McLean; son Jon-Paul (Meghan) Levesque and their children Avery, Addison, and Sawyer. Ida was predeceased by her parents Donat and Lena, her brother Lawrence, sister Jaqueline, and a daughter, Kathy who died at birth. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren who brought her much happiness. She was also known for her French-Canadian upbringing, of her extremely strong work ethic and cleanliness of having a, to name a few, clean floors and sink, and fortifying that sentiment onto her children. To this day, they follow those habits, as well as never leaving trash in the bathroom waste basket. The family would also like to truly send a heartfelt thanks to Dr. B, the intensivist at St. Mary's Hospital, the staff and Androscoggin Hospice House, especially her direct care team (our dear friend) Dr. Ross, Dr. Desoy, Bambi, both Nicole's, Deanna, Rebecca, and all the other nurses and aids, and administration who took care of her with dignity, kindness and empathy not just for her, but also for her family. They truly made this difficult time as easy as possible, with their never-ending compassion and support. They would also like to send a thank you to her lifelong dear friend, Reine Mynahan who, along with their high school group, including Anita, Celine, Louise, and Elaine, arranged to have someone sit with Ida. Ida was consistently surrounded by friends and family during her last days. Another dear friend, Joanne Lalemand, who Ida worked with her entire career at Hannaford, was with her for the last few hours. Per Ida's request, there will be no funeral. She wanted everyone who knew and loved her to remember her good times, and for her family to move forward. Even up until a few hours before her death, she was able to ask Amy and Jon about the grandkids, and even lifted her head when her oldest grandson visited. She passed in peace and happiness. Those wishing, in lieu of flowers, may make a charitable donation in Ida's memory to Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, Hospice House Fund, 15 Strawberry Ave. , Lewiston, ME 04240. Joan Swindells

Joan Swindells

Age - 95

December 5, 2023

LEWISTON - On Saturday, December 2,2023, Joan P. Swindells (nee Hurd), Mom, GG, Gram, Aunt Jo passed from this world just shy of her 96th birthday. She was surrounded by three of her four children. She was born on January 20, 1928 in Bangor, Maine to Ina and Oakman Hurd. She outlived all 11 of her siblings. Joan moved to Auburn in 1940 and made it her home until she and the love of her life and husband of 66 years, John R. Swindells, moved to Montello Heights. Joan called the Heights home until a broken hip cramped her style and forced a move to Montello Manor in September 2023. While Joan did not have a lot of formal education, she was among the most informed persons with whom you will ever have had the pleasure of bantering. John and Joan traveled extensively: Hawaii, Europe, and other US and Canadian destinations are just a sampling of the places they visited. It is safe to say that their trip to Bill Clinton's inauguration on her 65th birthday in 1993 was among the highlights of her life. Her tenacity secured them great seats to watch the swearing in, and, with the help of George Mitchell, tickets to the Maine Ball. She passed that tenacity on to her four children, Steven (Mary) of Smithfield, Pamela Swindells of Fort Worth, Texas, James, (Donna) of Portland, and Paula Swindells Leavitt (John) of Turner. They promise to stay feisty and honor her memory forever. She was fiercely proud of her 10 grandchildren. The only thing she was prouder of was her 12 great-grandchildren. Mom, Gram, GG, Aunt Jo is now dancing with Bumpa and arguing with her favorite sister, Connie Fournier. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to the staff of Montello Heights and Montello Manor for caring for Joan as if she was one of her their own. She was predeceased by her husband, John in 2014, both her parents, and all of her siblings and their spouses. Go with God, we've got it from here. Online condolences and fond memories may be shared on Joan's memorial page at www. albert-burpee. com. Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 11am to 1pm, with a liturgy of the word service at 1pm. Interment, Gracelawn Memorial Park. Scott Roberts

Scott Roberts

Age - 71

December 1, 2023

Livermore Falls, Maine: Following his audition, which consisted of a multiyear bout with Lung Cancer, Scott Roberts joined the Choir Invisible on November 27, 2023. He is survived by his wife, and treasure, Diane and her son Matthew, his sisters Bonnie Roberts Sabo and spouse Rick of Bangor, Penelope Roberts and her son Adriano of Sierra Vista, Arizona and his brother Stewart Roberts II, wife Kris and son Stewart D Roberts Ill of Roseville, Minnesota. For years he maintained the narrative that he was adopted, but his immediate relatives claim he was actually born to Elizabeth H and Stewart D Roberts Sr. by emergency lighting (candles) on the night of December 16, 1951 in Des Moines. They say he was not, as he would repeatedly say, raised in an orphanage, but rather following a few years in Iowa, the family moved to the Chicago suburb of Oak Park. No harsh nuns or bowls of gruel as he so steadfastly claimed, but rather the parks, yards, sidewalks, etc. of suburban America where youth baseball, boy scouts and all sorts other pursuits were available. He was educated in Oak Park schools and following high school he attended Lake Forest College before eventually graduating with a BA in Political Science from Roosevelt University in Chicago. In 1977 he decided to pursue a more bucolic life and loaded all his worldly possessions in a 1964 Ford 3/4 ton pickup and a small U-Haul trailer and set off for Maine. It was a decision he never regretted in spite of having to leave his beloved Pale Hose behind! He lived and worked in numerous places across Maine but finally was truly home when the Riordan farm in East Livermore became his residence in 1989. Perhaps one of his proudest moments was when the eldest living Riordan at the time, pronounced him a "Riordan by Residence". No longer a "tourist", this title came with a standing invitation to all Riordan reunions, funerals and other events! He worked at AC Electric in Auburn with some of the finest fellow employees, vendors and customers Maine has, closed out his career there and entered retirement in the spring of 2017. He occupied himself with a variety of activities beginning with being a trained Master Gardener Volunteer with the University of Maine's Cooperative Extension. This work ran the gamut from supporting other gardeners and gardens to working with RCAM (Leeds) to build and supply raised beds to local residents. The mainstay of the MCV work, however, was gleaning which untit health failed him, he did passionately. The most fun he had in retirement was his gig as an in-car driving instructor for high school. His claim was that he was able to teach the students NOT to do the things that other drivers do that drove him crazy! The Jury is still out on how successful he was. In following Scott's wishes there will be no services and burial will be private. You may offer your condolences and memories of Scott at www. thefortingrouplewiston. comShow more
