Ricardo Salazar Sr. , age 83, of Brownsville, Texas passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Our dad enjoyed spending time with his family, his daughter was his pride and his son enjoyed spending time with his dad. He learned lots of things from his dad. Our dad loved going to the flea market and garage sales. He loved listening to music and on Social Media and Youtube. Our dad loved to watch football, Dallas Cowboys was his favorite team. He loved western movies and spanish programs and movies. Our dad in his younger years enjoyed fishing. Ricardo is survived by his son Ricardo Salazar Jr. and his daughter Manuelita Salazar, his sister Maria Salazar, his sister Cresencia Zavala, his sister Angelica De La Cruz, his sister Guadalupe Salazar, his brother Erasmo Salazar and his sister Amelia Villalpando, his grandson Ricardo III Salazar, his grandson Robert William Salazar and his grandson Randy Ray Salazar. Ricardo was preceded in death by his wife Bertha Salazar Trevino, his son Reynaldo Salazar, his father Bartolo Salazar and his mother Manuela Salazar, his brother Roberto Salazar and his brother Romulo Salazar. Ricardo Salazar Sr. , also leaves behind 4 great grandchildren to cherish his memory. Serving as Pallbearers are Ricardo III Salazar, Robert William Salazar, Tyler Salazar and Nelda Cisneros. Elvia Reyes Lopez from Brownsville, Texas, 76, went to go be with her Lord on Saturday December 2, 2023. She was born in Mcallen, Texas to Pascual and Leonor Reyes. She had a wonderful work ethic since a young age working at various places in her life FedMart (now HEB on Central), NBC Bank, Sunrise Bank, El Jardin Water Company and at the end before retiring she worked at HEB (all locations). She was a excellent wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. As stern and as strict as she was, she was loving and caring. For those who knew her understand. Most people that knew her know she loved to exercise and was a avid walker up to 3-5 miles daily until her early 70's. When she married Emilio Lopez Jr. on January 1979 they became a blended family with his children and her children. Not knowing he would be the greatest care giver at the end of her life journey. Elvia is survived by her daughter Raquel (Pablo) Covarrubias; her son Rene Garza; and her step daughter Melinda Estrada; her stepsons Manuel Lopez and Lucio Lopez. Elvia was preceded in death by her daughter Yvette Garza; her parents Pascual Reyes and Leonor Reyes. Elvia Reyes Lopez also leaves behind 2 brothers, 3 sisters and grandchildren to cherish her memory. Tiburcio "Tibo" Rodriguez Jr. , 74, of Brownsville, TX, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, entered eternal rest on November 30, 2023, at Valley Baptist Medical Center Brownsville surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Olmito, TX on February 23, 1949. He is preceded in death by his parents Julia and Tiburcio Rodriguez, son Edgar Tiburcio Rodriguez, his sisters Bertha Rodriguez and Eugenia Castillo and a brother Reyes Rodriguez. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Maria C. Rodriguez, children Carmen G. (Roy) Reyes, Mario O. (Teresa) Rodriguez, and Magdalena (Maggie) Rodriguez, grandchildren, Reba and Cory L. Reyes, Mario O. Jr. and Edgar Rodriguez, also surviving him are three sisters and one brother. Tibo was a dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. Tibo showed many the true meaning of value and hard work. He enjoyed playing softball, watching soccer, spending time outside with his plants and raising his chickens. Tibo was always very proud of his children's and grandchildren's accomplishments. Tibo was a storyteller amongst all sorts of traits you'd be fortunate to hear one. Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p. m. - 8:00 p. m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p. m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. On Thursday, December 7, 2023, a Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p. m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
