He was everyone's biggest fan. After high school he joined the Army where he was able to travel the world. In 1982, Bert was honorably discharged from the Army and he immersed himself into the softball community. His love for both the game and his teammates was infectious. He helped pitch their way to many Championships. He had great memories and stories from his outdoor adventures while hunting with his brothers, brothers-in-laws, nephews, cousins, and friends. He remained undefeated in both family and Ripley House basketball games, thanks to the "Euro-Step" move he invented. It was not considered traveling!
