Hortence Mottu, 91, passed away on September 7, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents, Liborio and Theresa Martinez; husband, Benito Mottu, married for 45 years; and son, Mark Mottu. Left to cherish her memory are her son, George Mottu; daughter, Norma Garfield; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Hortence was known to her loving family as Nanny. She was ambitious in life and went back to college to get an accounting degree, to run her own business for several years. She loved keeping her mind sharp with puzzles, word finds and loved cooking meals for her entire family. Every Christmas season, she spent several hours making tamales. Later in life, she passed down her secret recipe for her family to keep the tradition. Hortence loved and cherished her family and our Lord Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A visitation for Hortence will be held at Clayton Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 13th, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm. (5530 W. Broadway St, Pearland, Texas 77581) Her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church on the following day, Thursday, September 14th, 2023, at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery, in Pearland, Texas.

Samuel Burton Carte, passed away on November 22, 2023, at the age of 77 in Pearland, Texas. He was born on November 14, 1946, in Charleston, West Virginia. Graduate of Milby High School. Sam was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, known for his caring and loving nature with a deep love for animals, particularly dogs. He had a captivating smile that could light up any room. Sam had a passion for cars and was an avid car enthusiast. He found joy in restoring antique and classic cars and trucks, as well as collecting model cars and trucks. His dedication to automobiles extended to his career, where he worked as a draftsman and model builder for Brown & Root / Halliburton for 27 years. He was also the proud owner of Custom Sprayed on Liners and enjoyed his time working at Queen Oaks Cleaners. Sam's expertise and love for cars were evident in everything he did. In addition to his successful career and hobbies, Sam valued his family deeply. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ginger Carte, his daughter Rebecca Carte, step-daughter Kyla Holas and husband John Holas, and three adoring grandchildren, Payton, Brenan, and Jase. He also leaves behind his sister Sue Hufstetler, nieces, nephews, and many other loving family members. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, O. H. and Gladys Carte, his brother Thomas Carte, and brother-in-law Ken Hufstetler. Sam will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His warm smile, caring nature, and passion for cars will be remembered fondly by his family and friends. May his soul rest in eternal peace.Show more

Randall Ray Harris, 80, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Dorothy Harris. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Janie Harris; son Clayton Harris and wife, Stefani; stepdaughters Amy Spence and husband, Joel, Laura Savage and husband, Michael; brother Michael Harris; sister Sandra Harris; grandchild Bella; step grandchildren Evan, Lucas, Sarah, Steven, and a host of many other family and friends. Randall was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished spending time with his family and adored loving on his yorkies, Lusy and Laci. He truly had a servant's heart and enjoyed a successful career serving his country, as a Lt. Colonel, in the United States Marine Corps. Randall was always thinking of others before himself and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Fitness and a healthy lifestyle were extremely important to him, and he enjoyed running marathons for many years. He also rode his bike up until he was 70. In his spare time, Randall loved to go dancing, and that is how he met his wife. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a big jokester and funny guy. Randall will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service for Randall will be held at 2:00 pm, on January 13, 2024, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas. Edward (Eddie) W. Blythe was born on January 18,1939 in Houston, Texas. He passed away Friday, December 1, 2023 at the age of 84 surrounded by his family in Santa Fe, Texas. He built his first home, raised his children and was a long term resident of Pearland, Texas. Edward retired as a Railroad Engineer after 42 years of service with the Port Terminal RR Association. He was a hardworking man that took great pride in his career and providing for his family. In 2002, He and his wife Brenda relocated to Santa Fe, Texas. This is where they later found Salt Grass Cowboy Church. Edward found his love for God and singing praises on stage with the church band. They were graced with many friends that became family. Eddie's greatest love was his 1948 Oldsmobile and enjoyed showing it off any chance he could. He was an avid baseball fan and loved the Astros! He enjoyed a good cold glass of iced tea and always had a good story to tell. His kind personality and sense of humor was not easily forgotten. He was preceded in death by his parents; Edward and Lilly Blythe; brother, Boyd Blythe. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Brenda Blythe; son, Brendan "Ashley" Blythe; daughter, Stacy Blythe; sister, Saralynn Hunold; granddaughters, Misty Blythe and Morgan Jones; grandson, Dalton Jones; niece, Stephanie Hunold; great-granddaughters, Brynlee Olivares and Emery Rodriguez; great-nephew, Blythe Hunold. Pallbearers are David Bonham, David Wardrup, Glenn Dobson, Kavin Vann, Michael Rodriguez and Josh Dobbs.Show more
