Born in Jersey City, NJ, JoAnn lived in North Bergen, NJ before moving to Neptune and most recently Toms River, NJ. She worked as Vice President for Bank of America in Sea Girt and Kearny Bank until her retirement.  JoAnn enjoyed yearly summer trips to Moosehead Lake in Maine with her family. She also enjoyed playing cards and shopping. She was a very social person, especially during her time at Brandywine in Toms River. She enjoyed having a good time and usually was the life of the party.JoAnn was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward A. Delaney Jr. in 2015. Judith A. “Judy” Tekula Jakub, 83, of Toms River, formerly of Tremley Point section of Linden, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 9 a.m. from the Leonard-Lee Funeral Home, 301 E. Blancke Street Linden. The Funeral Mass will be offered in Holy Family Church, 210 Monroe Ave, Linden at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in Rosehill Cemetery Linden. Visiting hours are on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. Judy was born in Irvington, NJ to the late John and Rose Hrasna Tekula before moving to the Tremley Point section of Linden in 1958 where she lived before moving to Toms River in 2001. She was an Administrative Assistant and Billing Clerk for E.I. DuPont, Linden, for many years. She enjoyed going to Disneyland, Atlantic City, playing Pinochle on a Saturday Night and doing puzzles with her family and also was a member of the Slovak Club. Judy was the loving wife of the late George A. “Sonny” Jakub, Jr. who passed away in 2001. Companion of Arthur Jaskowiak. She was the loving mother of AnnaRose Fedish and her husband Michael, George Jakub III and his wife Bonnie, John Jakub and his wife Nancy and Lisa Jakub and her grand dog Calvin. Cherished grandmother to Nicole Touw, Gabrielle Jakub, George Jakub IV, Erica Jakub and Michael Fedish. Great-grandmother of Megan Fedish, DJ Touw, Raymond Touw and Little Mikey Fedish. Born in Hackensack, NJ she lived most of her life in Bergen County, NJ before meeting the love of her life Chester Howe. They enjoyed 36 years of a wonderful marriage. Linda was a devoted and loving Mother and extremely proud of her Children. Linda worked at various multi-national Corporations as a receptionist throughout her Career before her Retirement. Linda was an active member of the community and proudly served as a past President of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 809 of Little Ferry, NJ. She enjoyed volunteering and working with friends. Upon retirement she and Chester moved to the Jersey Shore, a place that she loved. She enjoyed walks on the boardwalk and winning her Stuffy’s (teddy bears). Linda so loved traveling with her husband to the many Islands and many Cruises. Linda enjoyed watching game shows and her word find Puzzles. She was always ready for a party, if an Elvis song came on look out, she was his biggest fan. Linda is predeceased by her parents Edward and Marie Landgraff, and her loving Husband Chester Howe, and her sweet fur baby Muffin. She is survived by her loving family, Son Christopher, and wife Deborah of Edison. Daughter Lisa of Little Ferry. Grandchildren Nicholas Ciccone III of Woodbridge and Amanda Husko of Edison. Great-grandchildren Nicholas Louis Ciccone IIII and Callie Jean Husko and her lifelong best friend Ann Barger. Visitation will be held on Friday February 23, 2024, from 4pm to 8pm at Vorhees-Ingwersen Funeral Home, 59 Main Street, Ridgefield Park, NJ. Thomas A Garrity passed away on February 19, 2024, just three days shy of his seventy-third birthday. He was born and raised in the Vailsburg section of Newark and lived in the Ironbound section until moving to Berkeley Township in 2011. Tom graduated from Essex Catholic High School and St. John’s University. He was on the track and field team in high school and college, primarily running the high hurdles. After graduating college with a degree in economics, Tom began his career in banking at Howard Savings. He made a career switch into Information Technology as a software developer, working at Merrill Lynch and Seagram’s before moving into the IT consulting field. Tom will be remembered for his optimistic outlook, quick wit and keen sense of humor. He was an avid sports fan, a good cook and a great friend. He is predeceased by his father John and his mother Teresa (Peragallo). Tom is survived by his sister Donna and brother-in-law Robin of Lewes, DE. After graduating from Newark School of Engineering, now New Jersey Institute of Technology, Peter began working as an engineer for Pennsylvania Power and Lighting. In 2013, Peter retired as the Supervisor of the Martin’s Creek Plant.Peter was the beloved husband of Jessie (nee: DeJong) Giella. Loving father of Peter Giella and his wife Gabriela Hoffmann of San Diego, CA. Dear grandfather of Miles Giella. Dearest brother-in-law of Kenneth Hyle and his children Kenneth Hyle and Danielle Hyle-Carter. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Giella (2008) and Agnes Hyle (2011). Peter is also survived by many other cherished family members and dear friends. Peter cared for nothing other than the health and wellbeing of the people around him, quick to offer any help and guidance. Dolores J Smith, 90, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Dolores was born in Newark to the late Joseph and Marie Scarano and had lived in Union before moving to Holiday Heights. She worked for Dr. Morris Bass for over thirty years as an office manager. She was a member of the Holiday Heights Chorus for many years. She was a beloved member of the Social Club and Woman's Auxiliary as well as the Shuffleboard and Bocce League for many years which she and her husband Ray enjoyed very much. Dolores was predeceased by her first husband Robert Lee, cherished daughter Patricia Lee Proulx and her beloved second husband Raymond Smith. Raymond gave her and her children and grandchildren many years of love and happiness until his passing in 2013. Dolores leaves behind her beloved son Michael Lee and daughter in law Jennifer Lee who live in Ohio. She also leaves behind six grandchildren; Jared, Megan and her husband David, Katie and her husband Frank, Michael, Makayla and Daniel whom she loved very much, her five great grandchildren; Riley, Ramsey, Lucca, Troy, Luca and Violet. Dolores is also survived by her brother Joseph Scarano and her sister in law Carol, who she loved dearly as well as many nieces and nephews and her former daughter in law Linda Piskowski and her husband Frank. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River. A Funeral Service will begin promptly at 6:15 pm. Frankie Sommerer

"Frankie “Pocketbooks” Sommerer, 90 years old of Toms River passed away on February 18th, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born on August 10, 1933 in Phi9ladelphia where he attended North Catholic High. He then proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps. He went on to marry Dotty Rader, who predeceased him in 2000. Frank and Dotty met a Karamac, a summer camp along the Delaware Water Gap where they both worked. Their love of music and dancing brought them together and they soon fell in love. They married in 1959 and were blessed with two children Frank (Skip) and Kelly. In 1960 they moved to Willow Grove, PA where he was employed for Philco as a computer programmer. Their desire to own their own business led them to the Jersey Shore, where they opened their first boardwalk concession. Together they owned and operated Dotty’s Amusements for over 50 years on both Seaside Park and Seaside Heights Boardwalks. “Pocketbooks” as his friends loving called him was named for his iconic handbag stand on the Seaside boardwalk. While small in stature, his personality was larger than life. He cherished the friendships he made and they became his second family. He truly loved each and every one of them. Even after retiring, he remained active in the community and was involved with the Berkeley Striper Club as well as serving on the board of directors for the Seaside Italian American Club. He enjoyed his time selling raffle tickets and talking to friends at the boardwalk. Frankie loved the Phillies, Villanova basketball, fishing, hunting and his weekly trips with his son Skip to Atlantic City to play blackjack. He was also an avid reader. He is survived by a son, Dr. Frank “Skip” Sommerer and his wife Mina (Egan), a daughter Kelly Bruno and her husband Giuseppe, as well as his grandchildren Chelsea DiBlasi and her husband Matt, Jodi, Austin, Joshua and his wife Amanda (Kennedy), and Logan as well as his great granddaughter Maisie. Friends and family are invited to the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, February 23 from 1:00pm until 4:00pm with a service beginning at 4:00pm."
