Hjaltlina April Thompson, 51, passed away unexpectedly at her Lunenburg, Massachusetts home on September 7th, 2023 Hjaltlina was born in Leominster, Massachusetts on September 5th, 1972 to Allyn Thompson and the late Herdis Johannesdottir Thompson April grew up and made her home in Lunenburg, MA, for most of her life She spent many years working in retail in Leominster, MA, as well as Marlborough, MA ,where she made many friends and had a successful career in retail management Later in life she enjoyed a new path and worked for The Healthy Side in Townsend, MA, where she enjoyed learning and teaching holistic treatments, she was also a certified herbalist April was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2004 , which she battled courageously for many years Despite her health struggles, April always remained kind and empathetic She was always willing to help others in any way she could She gave the best hugs and loved family holiday gatherings Her laugh was contagious April had so many gifts and talents She was quick-witted and naturally funny without trying She was very musical and seemed to know every lyric to every song She was prone to breaking out in song if anyone uttered something that resembled a lyric! Often she made up her own which will be stuck in the heads of anyone that ever heard her make one up She brought joy to all that loved her If you were lucky enough for April to give you a nickname, it was yours forever Especially the kids that she loved so much! Jane McCann Walsh, 78, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Sterling Village Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, where she had been living after a series of debilitating strokes. Jane is survived by her treasured sons Chris (Emily), Dan (Lynne), and Alex, beloved grandchildren Mikayla, Andrew, Raphaela, and Josephine, best friend and sister Ellen (Bill) Campagna, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Ed Walsh. Jane was born on July 13, 1945 in Leominster, Mass. , the oldest daughter of Francis and Elsie (Marquis) McCann. She graduated from Rivier University in New Hampshire, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1967. She went on to a career as an educator in the Leominster and Clinton school systems, starting as a math teacher at Carter Junior High in 1968 and retiring in 1996, after many years teaching at Clinton High School. Jane is remembered most for her gifts of unconditional love and support to those around her. She was an involved mother and enthusiastic cheerleader for her sons throughout their lives, whether at the hockey rink, school auditorium, banquet hall, or just while sitting around the kitchen table. She found continual joy in being a grandmother and she delighted in knowing every detail of her grandchildrens' lives, attending Mikayla and Andrew's many games, award ceremonies, and more, and later FaceTiming with Rafi and Joey in between visits. Jane was also a devoted friend who had a long list of people she spent time with on a regular basis, especially her sister Ellen, whom she called first thing every single morning. She was an avid reader of fiction, loved playing pickleball, and took great pride in her plants, garden, and home decor, which she updated every season. Jane was also a thoughtful and generous gift-giver. Nothing made her happier than buying or making personalized presents for people whom she loved, especially at Christmas. She was also the best gift recipient, since she loved and appreciated absolutely everything people gave her. She is dearly missed by her family and friends. Townsend---Gerald "Jerry" Henry Allain, 69, formerly of Leominster, MA passed away on December 4, 2023 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Gerald was born on June 24, 1954, in Moncton, NB Canada, to Leander and Lorette (Babineau) Allain. In 1962, he moved with his family to Leominster, MA. Gerald attended St. Cecilia's School and Leominster High School. After high school Gerald worked at Sterilite Corporation as a shift supervisor for 28 years, he retired in 2015. Throughout his adult life, Gerald enjoyed traveling to Canada, Myrtle Beach and Florida, as well as spending time at his camp in Kennebunk, ME with his family. He loved the beach, lobster, country music, playing guitar with his uncles and cousins, playing cards (especially Cribbage), and was a fan of New England sports. Gerald will be remembered for always having a joke to tell and carried his sense of humor to the end. Gerald is survived by his wife of 28 years, Gail (Cote) Allain; 2 daughters, Lisa (Allain) Barrette and her husband Peter of Westminster and Christy Allain of Fitchburg; 2 brothers, Raymond Allain of Fitchburg and Robert Richard and his wife Helen, of Toronto, Canada; 3 grandchildren, Haylee Matos, Madelyn Barrette, and Jacob Barrette; 2 stepdaughters, Susan Newton and her husband, Darwin of Townsend, MA, Jenny Fiola and her husband, Paul Jr. of Greenville, NH. Robert (Bob) Roffee, 88, of Leominster, Massachusetts, died peacefully on December 2nd, 2023 while surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Bob was ready to meet Jesus, be reunited with his wife Nancy, and spend eternity with the Lord. His children are thankful that Bob and Nancy started their family's heritage of faith. He was born in Leominster in 1935 to Charles E. and Marion O. (Divall) Roffee. Bob was raised in Sterling, joined the Navy upon graduation from Leominster High School and returned to Sterling after his Navy service where he became an electrician. He met his bride to be while visiting her uncle's dairy farm in Sterling. Bob and Nancy were married in 1959 and had a wonderful, adventure filled life together. They enjoyed camping, hiking and traveling together with their children, grandchildren, family and friends. Bob was a member of Leominster Church of Christ where he served in many ways over his lifetime including running outreach ministries serving those in need of financial and other help, teaching bible classes and organizing activities for children, youth and adults including an annual group hike up Mount Monadnock. Bob also had a passion for Eastern European Missions providing Bibles and humanitarian support to Ukraine and refugees. Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Nancy, his parents (Charles and Marion Roffee), 2 sisters (Dottie Porter and Ruth Roffee) and a brother (Everett Roffee). Nancy Rafuse Magaletta of Leominster, MA passed peacefully away in her sleep on November 29, 2023 after a lengthly illness. She was 74 years old. Most notably, Nancy leaves behind her beloved husband of 23 years, Paul Magaletta. They both spent many years living in Waltham, Ma. They returned to Leominster to be closer to family after their retirement from Bank of America. In rest, Nancy is reunited with her Schnauzer, Emmie, who was her constant companion. Nancy was born on January 10, 1949 to the late Sidney and Grace (Condon) Rafuse. She was a 1967 graduate of Leominster High School. Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Sidney (Linda) Rafuse. In addition to her husband, Nancy's loving family includes her three daughters, Karen LeBlanc (Ken) MacDonald of Fairhope, Alabama, Kathie LeBlanc (Edward) Reynolds of Leominster, MA, and Susan LeBlanc (Shawn) Harrington of Leominster, MA. Nancy was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren: Alisha Harrington (Andy) Clark, Heather MacDonald (Austin) Trawick, Cole MacDonald, Andrew Harrington, Charlotte Reynolds, Theo Reynolds, Violet Reynolds, and Harrison Reynolds. FRAMINGHAM --- Maryann (Boyce) Kilcoyne, formerly of Osterville and Leominster, MA, died peacefully Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham, MA. Maryann was born on July 20, 1927, in Worcester, MA and was the eldest child of Charles A. Boyce and Hannah A. (Power) Boyce. She is survived by her 5 children, Thomas A. , III and his wife, Cathleen, of Hudson, MA, Richard C. and his wife, Sharon, of Gardner, MA, James P. and his wife, Liza, of South Hero, VT, Peter F. of Norwood, MA, and Mary K. Scotten and her husband, Thomas, of Osterville. She leaves 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her husband of 65 years, Thomas Aloysius Kilcoyne, Jr. , predeceased her, as did her sister, Alice Boyce Smith and brothers Charles, Jr. , Ralph, and Donald. Following Maryann's graduation from Regis College in Weston, MA, where she studied mathematics, she worked in the actuarial department of a life insurance company. It was during her time at Regis that she met and later married Tom, the love of her life. They raised their children in Leominster. Following a stroke she suffered during childbirth, she faced many challenges and adversities in her life, which she met with grace, dignity, and endless optimism. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She loved to discuss politics, the state of the economy, and how well her asset allocation fund was doing. She spent countless hours knitting sweaters for each of her grandchildren, many of which are still making the rounds among her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed time spent with many lifelong friends and was active in her community, especially the Women's Guilds at St. Leo's Church in Leominster and Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville. She was happiest in Tom's company - they were inseparable companions. There will be no calling hours. In loving memory of George E. Palmer, Jr. October 25, 1933 - November 24, 2023. George passed away peacefully at his home in Leominster, MA with his loving wife, Gerri at his side. George was born and grew up in Quincy, MA. He received his associates certificate at Wentworth College in Industrial Electronics. George proudly served as a Sergeant in the Marines during the Korean War, where he was trained as a radio operator. Shortly after his honorable discharge in 1961, George started to work as a Tech Writer for Raytheon where he met many lifetime friends. George was fortunate enough to take an early retirement in 1988 at the age of 56, giving him the ability to travel and pursue his passions. Known for his (dry) sense of humor and diverse talents, he could never sit still, immersing himself in groups (Algonquin Camper and Free Masons) as well as hobbies like traveling North America in his RV, cruising through the Caribbean, birdhouse building, bird watching, electronics, remote control airplanes, gardening, fishing, target practice, ham radios, and crafting his telescope. Not to mention his love for hot sauce and consuming the Maine Lobster (with butter, but no lemon)! He will be deeply missed by his wife Gerri and remembered fondly by his children Nancy, Laura, and Jim, and his stepchildren Cheryl, Scott and Kimberly, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his memory, let us celebrate a life rich in accomplishments, friendship, family, laughter, and love. Leominster- Maureen M. (Knox) Buchanan, 75, of Leominster, died Tuesday, November 21, 2023, surrounded by her husband and daughters, after a long illness. Maureen was born December 6, 1947, in Concord, MA, daughter of the late Stanley and Helen (DiCiaccio) Knox. She was raised in Littleton, MA and graduated from Rivier College in 1969. She was an elementary school teacher, having taught at St. Anna's, Julie Country Day and at the Boylston Elementary School until her retirement. Maureen was an active member of the Leominster Elks and Leominster Eagles for many years. She also enjoyed several winters in Fort Pierce, Florida. She leaves her husband of 53 years, William C. Buchanan; three daughters: Erin McGurn and husband, Michael of Braintree, Bridget Elliott and husband, Chad of Leominster, Dr. Molly Buchanan and husband, Michael Moran, of Wells, ME. She also leaves her beloved grandsons: Sean McGurn, Benjamin Elliott, William McGurn, Jacob Elliott and the late Archie Moran. Maureen was pre-deceased by her sister, Beatrice Plourde and her brother, Alvin Knox. She leaves one brother, Hugh Knox and his wife Joan, of Shelburne Falls and many cherished sisters and brothers-in-law and their families. Lunenburg- Patricia A. (Murphy) Penniman, 74, died Thursday, November 23, in her home after an illness. Patricia was born October 4, 1949 in Fitchburg, daughter of Raymond Murphy and Grace (Gilbert). She began her work life at Fitchburg Savings Bank, then worked for Asher Pant for over 20 years. Her career shifted to the medical field working at Nashoba Valley Medical Center for several years before working in the pathology department at UMass Medical Center until her retirement. Patricia enjoyed having a good time with family and friends. She kept busy over the years gardening, golfing, skiing, softball, darts and the 2:30 club. She also loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping. She and her husband, Buzz enjoyed spending winters in Biloxi, MS. She was predeceased by her husband, Winfield "Buzz" S. Penniman and her parents, Raymond Murphy and Grace DiNardo.
