Herman "Buddy" Woodrum, 87, of Bainbridge, formerly of Ripley, WV, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 14, 2023, and the funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00 p. m. at Waybright Funeral Home. Pastor Rick Perrine will officiate. Interment will be held at Fairplain Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Marine Corps League, Hershel Woody Williams Scholarship Foundation, 665 Watkin Lane, Ravenswood, WV 26164. Herman Cyrus Woodrum, Jr. was born September 26, 1935, in Huntington, WV, the son of Herman Sr. and Winifred Sullivan Woodrum. He was a graduate of Van High School and later joined the United States Marine Corps, where he attained the rank of Sergeant. Buddy retired as an operator for DuPont in Belle. Buddy was a faithful and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who prioritized his life with Jesus, his family, his church, and the Marines. He faithfully served Jesus alongside his wife for many years. Serving in the bus ministry at church was a passion he continued, even into his 80's. He loved serving in the Marine Corps league and participating in the Honor Guard. Buddy had never met a stranger and was that guy yelling the loudest at sports events, so everyone knew him. He loved to tell stories of his days in Boone County, where he was better known as "Ram. " His plethora of magic tricks, the infamous tickle game, and watching his favorite movie of all time, Centennial, are memories the children and grandchildren will treasure. Buddy loved to read James Michener's books. Survivors include his children, Paul Woodrum of Port Orchard, WA, and John & Michelle Woodrum of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Shellby & Matt, Collin & Riley, Alexa, Kylie, Emellia & Dustin, and Harrison; his great-grandchild, Maisy; and his siblings, Linda Gray and Karen Woodrum. In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Barker Woodrum; his son, Mark Woodrum; and his siblings, Brenda Woodrum and Nora Bell Kuhn. . . Kent Edward Smith, 35, of Athens, Ohio, formerly of Mount Alto, passed away with his loved ones by his side on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, the result of diabetes and other chronic illnesses. He was wrapped tightly in the love of his family at the home of his grandmother, Dotty Hayes, in Cottageville, where he had been receiving hospice care for the past five weeks. He was born December 1, 1987, in Point Pleasant, the son of Charles Edward "Eddie" Smith and Rhonda Kay Haynes Lee. He was raised in Mount Alto, where he developed a keen interest in hunting and fishing. He graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 2006 and earned an associate degree in Medical Management from the University of Phoenix in 2015. Kent combined his love of fishing with his artistic talents, eventually opening his own business, E9 Custom Lures, which grew to having an international customer base. He enjoyed sharing his fishing interests with the members of the Athens County, Ohio Bassmasters. He was a big fan of The Ohio State football. n 2012, he married Allana Cottrill of Athens, Ohio, and they built their life together on a foundation of family, friends and love. Kent was extremely proud of his family, and his highest priorities were his children, wife, mother and grandmother. His kind heart, engaging personality and easy-going nature were such that strangers quickly became friends. Left to cherish Kent's memory are his wife, Allana; children Leia, Emmett, Beau, Ben and Eric; his mother, Rhonda Lee (Kelly) of Cottageville; his father, Eddie Smith (Lazenda) of Letart; brothers Andy Smith of Mount Alto, Lewis Akers (Jen) of Morgantown, Gattlin (Silvia) Akers of Morgantown and Frankie (Grace) Lee of Ripley; grandmother Dotty Hayes (Frank) of Cottageville; uncle Allen Haynes of Mount Alto; aunts Charlotte (PeeWee) Denney of Letart and Lana Smith of Mount Alto. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, James Allen Haynes, Sr. , and paternal grandparents Edward and Evelyn Smith. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 25, at 6 p. m. at Waybright Funeral Home, 511 Church St. South in Ripley, West Virginia. Pastor Randy Parsons will officiate. Joyce Marie Tolley Williams 76, passed away on November 10, 2023 after a short courageous bout with cancer. Born June 23, 1947, in Ripley, WV, daughter of the late Estel and Ada Rhodes Tolley. Joyce graduated from Ripley High School with the class of 1965. She attended Charleston Beauty School and worked in various beauty salons in Jackson County. She and her family moved to Melbourne, Florida in 1983. Joyce worked for Harris Corporation, a government facility, as a security supervisor and retired after 29 years of service. Joyce loved her family, bargain shopping, and her beloved dog, Gracie. Her trips back to West Virginia was something she always looked forward to each year. There would be picnics, shopping trips with her nieces, and the annual gathering at Thanksgiving time with bingo and fun prizes. She loved West Virginia Football and Ohio State Football. Joyce is survived by her husband Bill of 54 years, son Brant; grandchildren Landon (Sara), McKinsay (Cole); great granddaughter, Kaia; nieces, Brenda Hunt, Jean Matheny, Benita Butcher, Edwina Waybright, Denita Dale, Chris Fulk, Cathy Pitts, Pam Burgoyne; nephews, Tony Snyder, Ronnie Snyder, John Tolley; sister-in-law, Margaret Tolley along with many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by infant son, Billy D. Williams, Jr. ; siblings William O. "Zeke" Tolley, John Fredrick Tolley, Mary Frances Snyder, Dortha Lee Angus; nephew Timothy Snyder; brother-in-law Edward "Lum" Angus and Carl Snyder and sister-in-law Betty Tolley. Pamela Ruth (Donohew) Crihfield, 65, of Ripley, WV, passed away November 9, 2023, at home with her family. She was born March 8, 1958, in Ripley, WV a daughter of the late Naomi Ruth (Winter) Donohew and Grant E. Donohew of Evans, WV. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother General Donohew. She was a 1976 graduate of Ripley High School. She was a retired cosmetologist from her shop The Hair Porte. Pam was known for taking care of everyone she loved and expecting nothing in return. She loved camping, cooking, gardening, family shindigs, the moon, ocean, pretty skies and everything that God created. Her most important treasures were her two grandsons Daniel and Briar. Survivors in addition to her father include her children, Charity (Dale) Smith of Mount Alto, WV and Benjamin (Chastity) Crihfield of Cottageville, WV; sisters, Teresa (Gary) Roark of Evans, Julia Donohew of Ripley; brother, Nathan (Staci) Donohew of Evans; nephews and nieces, Michael (Rachel) Samples, Jacob (Mary) Samples, Jillian (Brian) Hamon, Justin (Kelsey) Roark, Adrienne (Matt) Fratczak, Nate (Bailey) Donohew, Jade (Nathan) Tucker, Izzy (Lane) Casto and Gaitlin Donohew. Lora Michele Casto, 26, gained her heavenly angel wings on September 22, 2023. Lora was born on June 9, 1997 to Roberta Jean Miller and the late Jason Casto Sr. Lora was in an accident on April 11, 2014 that left her with a severe TBI that left her bedridden. Lora fought hard and long. Her tiny body couldn't fight anymore. We gave her permission to go home to heaven. Lora is at peace now with her baby she lost at the time of the accident and her brother Tyler and many more loved ones. Lora leaves behind a beautiful amazing son Kayden Edward Elmore (9) whom she loved more than anything or anyone. Her biological mother Roberta J. Miller, her 2nd mom Vera Stewart; sisters Shawna Lyn Willbarger (Patrick Tyler), Loretta Lynn Casto, Jessica Marie Casto, Lacy Ann Williams Casto; brothers Brett Miller, Jason Mitchell Casto Jr. (Aerieal) and Jeffrey Ryan Casto. Lora was preceded in death by her brother Tyler Mitchell Casto; dad Jason Mitchell Casto Sr. ; uncles Joshua R. Casto and Christopher E. Casto; her grandparents Robert and Cheri Casto and grandfather Warren "Brooks" Miller and many other loved ones. Lora Michele will be missed dearly, especially by her son and mother. We know she is healed and happy in heaven. Plus, Lora doesn't want any of us to be sad. She wants everyone to remember her the way she was before the accident.
