Herbert H. Harsar Sr. , 87, of Collins, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home. He was born on June 12, 1936, in Lorain, Ohio, to the late Stephen and Viola (Sponor) Harsar and was part of the first graduating class at Firelands High School in 1955. He was born in Lorain, raised in Florence, and had lived in Clarksfield, Wakeman, and Collins, Ohio. Herbert proudly served his country as part of the United States Marine Corp. and was a member of the New London American Legion Broome-Wood Post 292 where he helped provide funeral military honors to many other area veterans. Herbert worked for 27 years at the former Tappan/American Standard plant and later drove truck for 19 years at Wakeman Oil. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara (Cammarn) Harsar; children, Herbert (Cara) Harsar Jr. , Theresa Reed, and Jennifer Demyan; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Kathryn Gillespie, Ronald Harsar, Diane Love, and Arlene Myers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cherylann Burt; sister, Patricia Harding; and brother, Rudolph Harsar. A graveside service will be held on Saturday September 16, 2023 at Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery, beginning at 10 a. m. with military honors. Hillard R. Rose, 88, of Collins, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, September 5, 2022, at the Norwalk Memorial Home. He was born on September 13, 1933, in Dickinson, Virginia to the late Fannie (Barton) and Clinard Rose. Hillard enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, spending time with his family, and fellowship with his friends. He was passionate about sharing his faith and was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. He worked as a welder, most recently with New Departure Hyatt in Sandusky. Hillard was also a Master Free Mason for over 50 years. Survivors include his loving wife of over 70 years, Erma (Farmer) Rose; son, Kenneth (Sue) Rose; grandchildren, Lisa (Jon) Hast-Caskey , Bryan (Jenny) Hast, Kristin (Casey) Freeland and Jennifer Rose; great grandchildren, Jaden, Junah, Kathy, Kenyen, Parker and Piper. In addition to his parents, Hillard was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Rose Hast; brothers, Henry Mason (Annette) Rose, Lawrence Cecil (Pat) Rose, Zane Grey (Sue) Rose; and sister, Ana Lee (Woodrow) Viers. Roger D. Fitzwater, 74, of Collins, Ohio, passed on from this life to his eternal home on May 5, 2022, after some recent health struggles at Fisher-Titus Medical Center. He was born on December 7, 1947, in Greenbrier County, West Virginia to the late Paul and Ola "Marie" (Wallers) Fitzwater. He graduated from Richwood High School in West Virginia and resided in the area until he and his bride, Rita (Shawver) Fitzwater, were married and moved to Pennsylvania, before later coming to Ohio. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Roger expressed his love by genuinely picking at those he cared about. He was a preacher and pastor for many years and had spent over 50 years in the church. Roger also knew the value of hard work, having worked for Ford Motor Company in Lorain for over 30 years before his retirement in 2000. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years Rita (Shawver) Fitzwater; children, Melissa Williams and Lori (Dave) Smith of Norwalk; siblings, William Fitzwater, Byron Fitzwater, Patty Hankins and Verna Wills; and grandchildren, Kiara Williams, Taylor Fitzwater and Justin Marshall. Joshua A. Weisenberger, 42, of Collins, Ohio, on October 17, 2021, died from an unexpected illness. He was born on December 16, 1978, in Oberlin, Ohio to Timothy and Peggy (Youngeberg) and was a 1997 Western Reserve graduate. A wonderful father, son, and brother. Josh was a driven, strong willed, incredibly hard worker, with a passion for helping others. Most recently working for Mark Haynes Construction as a heavy equipment operator. As a former athlete, Josh actively carried on a family tradition of faithful support with his own children, of Western Reserve athletics, following everything from track and field, basketball, football, and volleyball, to being a "dance dad". Josh also served his country proudly as part of the United States/Ohio Army National Guard where he earned several awards and medals and was active in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was a member of the Vermilion Amvets and Wakeman Eagles and an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Survivors include Josh's wife, Holly (Sexton) Weisenberger; parents, Timothy (Peggy) Weisenberger; children, Brendan, Joshua "J. J. " and Liberty Weisenberger; sisters, Sara (Scott) Eustace and Jess Weisenberger; best friends, Charles Wheeler and Dirk Whitt, his dog, "Max"; numerous nieces and nephews, and the Derussey Road crew. Ruby Marie Griffith, 86, of Collins, Ohio passed away peacefully on February 12, 2021 at Gaymont Nursing Center in Norwalk, Ohio. She was born on October 29, 1934 in Glen Daniel, West Virginia to the late Stewart and Julia Smith. Ruby was a laid-back individual who had an appreciation for the simpler things in life. She loved the outdoors, cherished her grandchildren, and enjoyed watching wrestling on television or tapping her toes to a good country song. She worked for many years at the Aqua Marine Resort in Avon Lake and at the Brown Derby. Survivors include her daughters, Karen Davis of Lorain, Ohio, Judy (Curtis) Killen of Collins, Ohio and Sherry Garza of Lorain, Ohio; siblings, Regina, Cosetta and Sunny Joe, numerous grandchildren, as well as several great grandchildren. Jean Motolik, 73, of Collins, Ohio died on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born in Troy, WV on August 5, 1947, the daughter of Lester and Wilda (nee Flesher) Garton. Jean spent most of her life in the Hartland area. She was a graduate of Western Reserve High School and the Lorain County Community College. She worked at Oberlin Clinic for 30 years and following retirement she worked at the Oberlin College Student Health Clinic. Jean was active in the adult bible study and taught Sunday school at the Hartland Community Church. Jean is an active member at the Norwalk First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with friends, family and especially her grandchildren. Jean is survived by her husband of 50 years, Thomas Motolik of Collins; her daughter, Kristen (Clinton) Behm of Lorain; and grandchildren, Makaiah, Summer and Haylee Thomas, Emily and Amelia Behm. Maryann F. Miller, 73, of Collins, Ohio passed on Sunday, September 13, 2020 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born to the late William C. Durning and Mary Rose (Hartigan) Caley on October 10, 1946 in Norwalk, Ohio and lived most of her life in the area, as well as years spending time in Columbia Station and traveling with her husband during his service in the Army. Maryann was a member of the first graduating class of Western Reserve High School. She was the oldest of 9 children and helped raise her siblings. She worked as a lab technician for Fisher Titus Medical Center for several years and Dr. Resseger's office for 30 plus years until her retirement. Maryann was a CCD teacher and member at St Mary's Catholic Church in Wakeman, Ohio and she was a big supporter of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing; making many blankets, listening to John Denver and Elvis Presley, camping, reading, and spending time in Alaska with her husband. Maryann was kind- hearted and had a great sense of humor, she loved her grandbabies and was fondly known as Mimi, she enjoyed babysitting, spoiling them and spending her time with them. She was a huge Cleveland Browns and Indians fan and she had an incredibly positive spirit and shared her positivity with her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Arthur E. Miller, by her children, Amy M. Clifford of Lewis Center, Ohio, Matthew E. Miller of Columbus, Ohio, and Mark A, (Julia) Miller of Collins, Ohio, by her grandchildren , Mitch Clifford, Brenna Clifford, Luke Clifford, Keegan Miller and Kamden Miller. She is also survived by her siblings, Bill (Jessica) Durning of Fairbanks, Alaska, Patricia (Bob) Johansen of Collins, Ohio, Bob Durning of Riddle, Oregon, Mike (Debbie) Durning, Robin Chandler, both of Greenwich, Ohio, Maureen Dreschel of Collins, Ohio and Kathy Durning of Columbus, Ohio. In addition to her parents, Maryann is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Lachowyn and by her brother-in-law, Kevin Shea. There will be no visitation. Mrs. Eleanor J. (Twitchell) Winkler, 81, of Collins, Ohio went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 4, 2020 peacefully at home. She was born February 18, 1939 to the late Margaret (Stout) and Jonas Twitchell in Hudson, Indiana. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1957. She married Alex Winkler in 1957, and they raised their four beloved children on a farm in rural Norwalk. She is survived by her son, Alex Jr. (Jean) Winkler of Milan; daughter, Ellen (Curt) Fitch of Collins; daughters-in-law Carolyn Winkler and Laura Winkler, both of Norwalk; grandchildren Justin Winkler, Kyle (Nikki) Winkler, Katie (Tom Scanlon) Winkler, Derek (Ellen) Winkler, Ryan (Vanessa) Winkler, Rebecca (Dan) Lunde, and Chad (Beckie) Fitch; eight great-grandchildren, Cadence and Beckett Winkler, Declan Winkler, Levi, Ezra, and Selah Lunde, Chase Winkler, and soon-to-be born Theodore Fitch; sisters Elsie (John) Francisco and Susie Kaye; and many nieces and nephews and friends. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bill, sister Annabelle, husband, Alex, sons William (Bill) and Mark, and grandson, Alan. Eleanor inspired many with her love, joy, and steadfast faith. She was beloved by all who knew her. She always had a smile on her face and an encouragement in her words. She was a prayer warrior with devotion to her friends, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family, feeding and watching birds, feeding fish at her pond, reading her Bible, and playing with her dog; Millie. Her greatest joy in life was sharing her faith in the Lord. A drive thru visitation to show support for the family will be held at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W.
