Shirley Ann JuretschkeOf Arlington HeightsIn loving memory of Shirley Ann (nee Kucera) Juretschke, born on February 5,1934, in Chicago, IL to Edward James and Olga (nee Johnson) Kucera. She passed away peacefully on September 19, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was raised in Oak Park, Illinois and grew up with her brother Ronald. In 1954, she married her husband, Walter, and they soon started a family. Together they raised three wonderful children in their home in Arlington Heights. During her years of raising her children, Shirley spent time working for the Administration Staff at John Hersey High school, while also finding great joy in her hobbies and home making. During the day she was an avid gardener and spectacular cook, while in the evenings you could find her at the bridge table surrounded by friends or cheering on the Cubbies. Always accompanied by her favorite Manhattan. Shirley had an outspoken and strong-willed personality that was hard to miss, paired with wit and humor in her words that kept her loved ones entertained. She placed an importance on family and tradition in her children and grandchildren, with whom her legacy lives on. Shirley was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and dear friend to many and was loved by all who knew her. Shirley is survived by her children Deborah (Matthew) Smith, Karen (Timothy) Radez and Robert (Linda) Juretschke; her grandchildren Kasey (Nick) Mazariegos, Margot Chatfield, Charlie (Kristina) Smith, Vanessa (Greg) Mohr, Lara (Drew) Price, Mark (Holly) Juretschke, Michael Juretschke and David Juretschke; her great-grandchildren Matux, Maevis, Maggie, Miles, James, Olivia, Giselle and Vivian; as well as her brother Ronald (late Collene) Kucera and several nieces.
