Henry H. Hill, 92, of Kewanee, died Thursday, January 31, 2019 at OSF St. Luke's Medical Center, Kewanee. Henry was born November 16, 1926 in Kewanee, the son of George and Jessie (Howell) Hill. Henry married Teresa M. VerShaw on October 15, 1955, she survives. Henry is also survived by a daughter, Diane (Mike) Berry; two sons, Steven Hill, Jeff Hill; two granddaughters, Jenny Tye (Andy Kilstrom), Amanda (Erik) Liepitz; two step-grandchildren, Michelle (Sean) Murphy, Matthew Berry; five great-grandchildren, Drew, Erik (Elise), Nikki Tye, Delaney, Luke Liepitz; one great-great grandson, Kyler Tye; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George, Harold (Lefty), James, Fred, Edward, and Al Hill; two sisters, Lily Murphy and Edna Wilson. Henry served in the Merchant Marines and the Army Air Corps during WWII. He enjoyed the Honor Flight he took in 2012. After retiring from John Deere Harvester, he fulfilled his dream of getting a High School Diploma and was very proud to get his GED. In his younger days he loved traveling, camping, and country western music. He enjoyed going to the Kewanee Boilers Basketball games. In his later years, he never missed his granddaughters' various games and he went to all of his great grandchildren's activities, even donning WHS green. He was a board member of the Flemish American Club where he and his beloved wife, Teresa, loved to go dancing on the weekends. He liked playing cards with their group of friends, going to the Sale Barn on Fridays to look for bargains, the Chicago Cubs, and he especially enjoyed solving all the world's problems with his coffee group at McDonalds. In the last couple years, he loved going out to eat, making it his personal mission to find the areas best onion rings. He was happiest when the family could get together and spend time. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 1:30 pm at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted by the Kewanee Veteran's Council. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Monday, February 4, 2019 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kewanee School Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
