Leaving to mourn with fond memories his wife Frances; sons: Darren and Craig (Karen); 2 grandchildren: Kyle and Riley. As well as numerous other family members and friends. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time. Donations may be made Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Diabetic Association.

(Olive) Mae Wilson entered into eternal rest on February 20,2024 in her 97th year. Predeceased by husband Harry, daughter Diane and son in law (Gerald) Joe Power. Leaving to mourn her passing are son Harry, wife Heather, granddaughter Lucy and daughter Janet, husband Trevor.We would like to thank the staff of Karwood Retirement Retreat, especially Ashley Squires, Resident Care Manager, for their tireless support and excellent care of Mom for the past 6 years. We would also like to say a special thank you to Dr. Cherry Pike and Alice Nolan for their medical care which went beyond professionalism to include friendship.A sincere thank you to niece, Annie Dwyer, and friends Wayne and Lynette Chamberlain for your help in assisting Mom. A very special thank you to Sue Ledrew for all that you have done to help Mom and us- the drives to the hospital, doctor’s appointments and everything else. You are truly a friend indeed and words cannot adequately convey our appreciation and thankfulness.No visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service from Barrett’s Memorial Chapel at a later date. Internment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations in Mom’s name can be made to The Gathering Place.

Robert Keith Barrett passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre on February 15, 2024 at the age of 72 years.Predeceased by his parents: Arthur and Lucretia; brother George and good friend Gerry Murphy.Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his best friend and devoted wife of 39 years Sharon; cherished son Shawn; sister Dianne (Bob) Morris; brother Gary (Ted); sister -in- law Judy; The O’Leary family; good friends: Doug Shannahan, Dominic O’Dea, Dave Reid, Dick Connelly, Rick Brown and Cliff Curtis; extended family and a circle of friends.We would like to thank our niece Brenda (Robert) Tobin, for their endless support and love. Thank you to the Cancer Centre and The Health Science Centre for you compassion and care.Keith had a fulfilled career working for The Canadian Coast Guard for 31 years, second family on the Henry Larson.After retiring Keith could be found on the golf course or taking a long drive enjoying company and sharing laughter. He loved salmon fishing and the outdoors.Keith had a passion for photography and spent his time capturing the perfect picture.He also loved to cook, or eating out. Keith was the first Newfoundland member of the Newfie Food Group on Facebook. He was always searching for a new recipe to try.Keith will be forever missed.Honoring Keith’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of Keith’s life will take place at a later date.

After a short but courageous battle with cancer, James (Jim) Fowler passed away in the presence of his loving family on February 13th, 2024. Predeceased by his parents, Theresa and Harold Fowler, brother, Michael Fowler and in-laws, Anita and John Gorman.Left to mourn with a lifetime of memories, his daughters, Angela (Ryan), and Tonia (Devon), his granddaughters, Winter and Vada, and their mother and Jim’s best friend, Sandra (Hubert); sisters, Ellen (Dave) and Patty (Mike); brothers, Harold (Joanne), Bernard (Hollie), Tim (Sherry), and Andy; sister-in-law Danielle Fowler. Jim had a large circle of nieces and nephews, but he was especially close to his Godson and nephew, Adam with whom he had a special father-son relationship.Throughout his life he was blessed to have some wonderful lifelong friends, including, Colleen (Meaney), Bill (MacKenzie), Catherine (Meaney), Rhonda and Bob (Butler), Claire (Rideout) and family, Dot, Cyril, Amanda and Michael (Greeley), Helen (Hayward), as well as Mabel and Paul (Ryan).Jim was the grandson of a Blue Puttee (James Fowler) and the son of a Royal Navy Veteran (Harold Fowler). He was a devout Catholic and loved daily Mass. He had a special devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus and prayed the Rosary every day. Jim lived for his family and the time spent with them, whether it was going to coffee with his sister Ellen, listening to music with his brother-in-law Dave or taking his granddaughters to McDonald’s, he relished every moment with the ones he loved the most.Thank you to Dr. Robert Woodland, Dr. Matthew Verge and Michelle (his caretaker for the past two years) for the medical care you provided Jim throughout his life. Thank you to the nursing staff of 4East and 4West of St. Clare’s hospital, the Hematology team of the Health Sciences Centre and especially the nursing staff of 4NorthA who took such wonderful care of Jim during his stay in the hospital. A special thank you to nurse Randi, the care and compassion you provided Jim, and his family was truly comforting in his final days.Flowers are gratefully accepted, or donations may be made to the following charities that were close to his heart. Hynes (Sr.) and pride and joy granddaughter Margo Jole Hynes at the age of 4 ½ months old.Leaving to mourn his loving mother, Helen Hynes; his loving wife of 33 years Yvette (you will always be in my heart); his three sons’ that he loved with all of his heart, Michael (Samantha), Brandon (Kendyl), Nicholas (Chelsea); his beautiful granddaughter that he loved so dearly Leia Hynes. Leia loved talking to pop on the phone, everything was pop; his only sister Maude (Tom Mackey); brothers Jim (Karen), Barry (Karen), Nick, John (Allison), Rick, Darrell (Kelly); along with his Godchildren, nieces and nephews. Mike had a large circle of friends, but ones that were true friends for over 40 years, Chris and Kathy Hewitt and Ed Sooley.Mike lived with cancer for over three years. You are at peace and in no more pain my love. You are now with your dad and Margo.There will be no visitation or funeral at Mike’s request. He will be coming home with his family until we decide to put him in his resting place.We love you and you will be missed every day!

It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of Joseph Benedict O'Brien, who passed peacefully away on February 12th, 2024 at the Health Sciences Centre in his 91st year.Predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Ruth (nee Hiscock), parents Tom and Alice, brothers Vincent, Richard, Thomas, Michael, Cyril and George. Sisters Margaret, Mary and Josephine. Brother-in-law Bill Hiscock.Joe is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Lori, son-in-law Mark, and the apples of his eye, his most beloved granddaughters Peyton and Morgan.Also leaving to mourn sisters-in-law Grace Hollett, Jean Stender (Wulf), brother-in-law Harold Hiscock, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.Joe's immediate family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to the staff of St Patrick's Mercy Home 2EW unit for their kindness and care. Special thanks to Colleen, Mary and Katie who treated him like family.There will be no visitation or funeral service per Joe's wishes. Cremation has taken place, with interment follow at Kenmount Road Anglican Cemetery this spring. A private gathering to remember and celebrate Joe's life will be held at a later date.Joe loved all animals and especially enjoyed the company of his daughter Lori’s dogs. They shared 75 years of marital bliss. Dad was an exceptional father, grandfather and great grandfather. He had a successful career with the provincial government and was a Christian man who was devoted to his church and family.Predeceased by his parents Caleb and Eliza Andrews, Four brothers, two sisters and their spouses. Parents-in-law Obadiah and Ellan Ann Winsor, three brothers-in-law and seven sisters-in-law.Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 75 years, Effie, sons Lloyd (Patricia), Lewis (Marilyn) and Wayne. Nine grandchildren; Robert (Kelly), Susan (Dean), Peter (Kimberley), Brad (Nicholle), Mark, Todd (Crystal), Kristopher (Kelly), Michelle (Mark) and Stefanie. It is with an overwhelming sense of loss and sadness that I share with you the news of Lanae’s passing on February 6th, 2024.I will be eternally grateful for the unrelenting love and positivity that she exuded from every fibre of her being. Her kindness and compassion were felt by everyone who knew her. A lover of life, Lanae radiated an energy that just naturally attracted everyone that she met.For those of you who knew her well, I’m sure that you will agree with me when I say that she found positivity in every situation. She has helped all of us, from time to time, through situations that we faced in our daily lives. During this difficult time I ask you to remember this and take a lesson from her playbook, (to use a football analogy), and find your own positive thoughts and memories of her, because that’s what she would want you to do.At a future date we will all gather at our home to celebrate Lanae’s life. His love for his family knew no bounds, and he found his greatest joy in their happiness.His love and dedication to the Lord became his pillar of strength as he dedicated his life to his church family at Spruce Hills. Whether through his work, his family, or his friendships, he touched countless lives with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. His legacy of compassion and service will continue to inspire all who knew him.
