Helen R. Walter, 95, of Mifflinburg, entered went to be home with her Lord and Savior at 6:11 a. m. , Sunday, August 13, 2023, at home. She was born April 3, 1928 in Northumberland, a daughter of the late Samuel and Beulah (Straub) Mull. On May 17, 1947, she married Homer J. Walter, who preceded her in death on November 27, 2006. Helen was a graduate of Northumberland High School. Before devoting her time to being a homemaker, she was employed and held varying positions at Furman’s Cannery, Northumberland, Chef Boyardee, Milton, Westinghouse Electric, Sunbury, and Sterling Mills and Par Knit, Mifflinburg. Helen enjoyed crocheting, studying her bible, baking for her family, and in her younger years, she loved gardening. She was a member of the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene, Mifflinburg. Helen was a strong prayer warrior, and prayed constantly for her family. She loved crocheting prayer crosses and handing them out at nursing homes and sending them to missionaries. Surviving are one son, Ricky Walter of Sunbury; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Allen Wehr, Julie Finn-Whalen and Michael Whalen, and Dorry Heiges, all of Mifflinburg; 16 grandchildren, Nathan Wehr, Joel Wehr, Anita Wentz, David Walter Jr. , Stacy Crabb, Lindsay Zevan, Kimberly Fisher, Jennifer Bartholomew, Brandon Walter, Jacob Walter, Kinley Sheesley, Brooke Pierce, John Heiges III, Whitney Lloyd, Rylan Bennett and Jeffrey Finn; 40 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William Mull, and Kenneth and Shirl Mull, both of Selinsgrove; three sisters, Shirl Ramsey, Mary Botticher, and Linda Heddings, all of Selinsgrove; one daughter-in-law, Shonny Walter of Millmont; and one sister-in-law, Shirl Mull. She was preceded in death by one son, David Walter Sr. ; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tony Bennett; one grandson, Jeremy Finn; two sisters and brother-in-law, Nancy Stahl and Arlene and Jim Thomas; one brother, Francis "Satch" Mull; three brothers-in-law, Bob Ramsey, Leo Botticher, and Clair Heddings; one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Walter; and one son-in-law, James Finn. Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a. m. , Thursday, August 17th, at Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene, 12 Market St. , Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Rev. Wayne Krell, officiating. Burial will be in Hartleton Cemetery. Florence S. Boop, 87, of Swengel Rd. , Mifflinburg, since 1969, entered into rest at 2:22 a. m. , Thursday, December 7, 2023, at home. She was born January 7, 1936, in Union County, a daughter of the late Francis C. and Lodie (Wolfe) Strickler. On January 7, 1955, she married Earl J. "Jim" Boop, who preceded her in death December 25, 2021. They celebrated 66 years of marriage. Florence was a 1953 graduate of Mifflinburg High School, where she played basketball and played the clarinet in the band. She was a member of the Christ’s United Lutheran Church, Millmont, where she was a member of the women’s group, helped with alter guild, church suppers, and the West End Fair booth. Florence was employed as a banker at the Mifflinburg Bank & Trust until 1955, and in her later years at Lewisburg National Bank, Northern Central, and M&T Bank. She worked the registration at the West End Fair, was judge of elections for Lewis Township, and was treasurer of the American Red Cross, Lewisburg, where she was presented with the Clara Barton Award. Florence enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, shopping, and camping at Hidden Valley Campground, Mifflinburg. Surviving is one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Tammy Boop of Mifflinburg; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Curtis Duke of Mifflinburg, Diane and Richard Rainar of Landisville, and Sharon and Laird Zimmerman of Mifflinburg; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Brittany Duke, Sarah and Jon Keister, Karen and Santosh Kuruvilla, Daniel Rainar and Amanda Mueller, Tanya and Quincy Lantz, Clint and Amanda Stahl, Jennifer and Andrew Keister, and DJ and Haleigh Boop; 12 great-grandchildren, Kinzley and Kingston Duke, Dylan Keister, Carter and Ethan Kuruvilla, Charlie Rainar-Mueller, Tamira Lantz, Isaiah Schweitzer, Natalie Stahl, Michael and Molly Keister, and Earl Boop; and one brother, Francis "Butch" Strickler. Born on September 3, 1934 in Alberton, PA, a daughter of the late George G. and Faye (Miller) Livingston. She was married to Larry Lee Confer, who preceded her in death. She was an active member of Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church, Lewisburg. Vivian worked as a cataloger at the Public Library of Union County for 20 years until the age of 86. Earlier in life she worked as a high school math teacher. She enjoyed reading, doing crosswords puzzles, and gardening. Surviving is one daughter, Lisa Confer of Fleetwood, two sons, Jonathon Confer of Winfield, Gregory Confer of Branchburg, NJ, 4 grandchildren,Todd, Scott ,Owen, and Liam. Sharon was a 1983 graduate of Mifflinburg High School and earned an associate degree in business management, graduating top of her class at McCann School of Business. She was employed as Shipping and Receiving Clerk at Conagra, Milton, for 23 years. Sharon enjoyed gardening, mowing her grass, swimming, and traveling to the beach. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Surviving are one son Trevor Ulrich of Millmont; one daughter, Christina Ulrich of Milton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Steven and Kim Garner of Ithaca, New York, and David and Heather Garner of Laurelton; two grandchildren, Autumn and Kayne; and many nieces and nephews. Born on June 23, 1947 in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Frederick P. and Ruth (Miller) Sherck. On August 10, 2002 in Mifflinburg she married David W. Bingaman who passed away on August 1, 2023. Over the years she held various jobs. She most recently worked at Sheetz, Mifflinburg and Ritz-Craft, Mifflinburg. Pat enjoyed baking for family and friends. She was a former member of Mifflinburg Moose. Surviving is one son and daughter-in-law, William F. and Brianna Mitch of Millmont, one daughter and son-in-law, Brandi and Doug Miller of Millmont, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Frederick Sherck and Robert Sherck, a sister-in-law, Susie Roadarmel of Mifflinburg, one sister, Becky Starkloff of Florida. He was born March 30, 1932, in Millmont, a son of the late Rollin Charles and Helen Edna (Grove) Emery. On February 23, 1952, in Winfield, he married the former Virginia May Schreck, who preceded him in death in 1990. Robert attended Mifflinburg Area High School. He served in the Air force from June 1951 until his honorable discharge May 9, 1955. Robert was employed at American Home Foods, Milton, for over 40 years. He was a member of the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410. Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching, gardening, and especially spending time with his family. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Patty Emery of Mifflinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and William Reed of Mifflinburg; five grandchildren, William Reed of Mifflinburg, Wendy and her husband Wayne Doebler of Mifflinburg, Stacey and her husband Michael Campbell of Mechanicsburg, Krista Emery and her husband Leonardo Olvera of Toronto, and Ryan and his wife Amy Emery of South Berwick, Maine; 11 great grandchildren; and one sister, Fae Hanselman of Mifflinburg. Ellen M. Pursley, 59, of 215 Glen Iron Road, Millmont passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023 of Evangelical Community Hospital due to a short battle with cancer. She was born in Lewisburg, PA, on January 15, 1964 a daughter of the late Elwood and Eleanor (Lamey) Pursley. She was a 1981 graduate of Mifflinburg High School and SUN Area Technical School of New Berlin. Ellen was employed at Spectro Knit Sewing Factory as a teenager and worked there many years. She also worked at Laurel Market in Laurelton and Boomerangs. Ellen enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, her (lil monkey), hanging out with friends, the Eagles, and mountain rides. Surviving is her daughter and greatest love Megan Shawver and her granddaughter, Aubrae Mullany both of Glen Iron, her partner and great love Doug Epley of Weikert, three sisters, Clara (Dennis) Kuhns of Middleburg, Harriet (David) Boop of Glen Iron, Crystal (Travis) Boop of Laurel Park, one brother, Elwood Pursley Jr. of Forest Hill. Also survived by numerous nieces and a nephew and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her first child (stillborn) Andrea Pursley. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Veronica (Atkinson) Hyatt, 83 on September 28th surrounded by her loving husband. She was born in Liverpool, England on June 3, 1940, to David Atkinson and Elizabeth (Frazier) Atkinson, the youngest daughter of seven children. She was predeceased by her siblings, Bernard Garrity, Frank Atkinson, Margaret McCoy, Brian Atkinson, and Ronald Atkinson. Veronica was best known for her signature hair bun and English accent. Coming to the United States March 5, 1960, at the age of 20, as an au pair, she soon after met the love of her life. According to her, Kenneth left a smile on her heart the first time they met. On May 12, 1962, the two exchanged their vows at St. Mary's Church and promised each other a lifetime of love and happiness. The two established their first home that was built from scratch by her love in Silvermine, CT. A proud Brit and a proud American, she represented her love for both countries by displaying her collection of horse brass around her house and an American flag pinned on every blouse. Most days you could find Veronica reading books by her favorite author, Danielle Steele with a nice hot cup of tea or watching the Hallmark channel as she was a hopeless romantic. As a creative outlet, Veronica would demonstrate her painting skills by painting handsaws and milk cans with beautiful country landscapes. As she was a beautiful artist, she also was an even greater baker. Her cakes were as lovely on the eyes as they were on the palate. One of the biggest traits that Veronica was known for was her giving heart. Always putting people before herself made her one of the most selfless people. And if she did not have a gift to give, she always gave the gift of laughter. Her sense of humor was undeniable. Constantly making jokes, she would get everyone laughing so hard that she would even start to cry. Veronica is survived by her husband, Kenneth Hyatt, her daughter and son-in-law Heather and Joseph Carusone and their two children Michelle Frayne (Chris) and Peter Carusone. She was also survived by her son and daughter-in-law Kenneth Jr. and Jane Hyatt and their two children Kristen Benitez (Zachary McEwan) and William Benitez (Brittany Boudreau). Additionally, she was survived by her brother, David Atkinson of Washington state as well as several nieces and nephews. The entire Hyatt family will be forever grateful to the loving caregivers and friends that helped her throughout the years. Their smiles, humor and genuine compassion to our beloved Veronica will never be forgotten. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Dominick T.
