September 18, 2023
John Everett White walked into the arms of his Lord and Savior on September 15, 2023, at the age of 65. John was born on February 26, 1958 in Camden, New Jersey. He was the youngest child of Roland Jack White and Dorothy Wild White. John moved frequently as a child, living in New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, and Maryland. He graduated with honors from Severna Park High School in 1976. During high school, John attended the Billy Graham movie "A Time to Run" with his good friend, Dave. Following the movie, Dave prayed with John as he accepted Christ as his Savior. This began John's lifelong journey of growing in his relationship with Christ; a relationship that would be his greatest hope, strength, and purpose throughout his life but particularly in his last months on earth. John attended college at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and was a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon (Math Honor Society). He graduated Magna Cum Laude in May of 1980 with a double major in Applied Math and Computer Science. Around the time of graduation John met his wife, Mary. John and Mary were married July 24th, 1982 at College Hill Reformed Presbyterian Church in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. They enjoyed an extended honeymoon, touring England and Wales. This was the first of many trips they enjoyed together as a couple over their 41 years of marriage. They settled in Maryland, where their eldest child, Laura, was born in July 1985 and their son, Matthew, was born in July 1988. Throughout their 30 years in Maryland, John was blessed with many wonderful, lasting friendships with neighbors, church members, work colleagues, and old friends from high school. John and Mary attended Glen Burnie Evangelical Presbyterian Church and later Bay Area Community Church. John had a successful career in the field of software engineering and project management in several different companies including IIT Research Institute, Roadnet/UPS, Raytheon/Orbital TMS, and Verint Video Solutions. His career afforded him frequent opportunities to travel around the United States and occasionally internationally to several countries including Korea, Singapore, and Germany. Even more than traveling for work though, John reveled in sharing his love of travel with his family. This passion took them to Cape Cod yearly, and on multiple summer vacations including to New Hampshire, North Carolina, Florida, large portions of the western United States, Turks and Caicos, California, and Indonesia. Several of the family's favorite trips were exploring National Parks including Zion, Bryce, Arches, the Grand Canyon, and Yosemite, among others. In 2009, John started his own company, Transit Solutions, LLC. , providing video surveillance equipment to public transportation agencies. His son began working for him in 2010. The opportunity to share his career with his son brought him great joy, and he ultimately began transferring the business to Matthew in 2019. John and Mary moved to Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania in 2012 to be closer to Laura and Matt's families. They enjoyed frequent trips to visit Laura in Cattaraugus, NY and were able to see Matt's family on a weekly basis. As his family expanded to include grandchildren, John continued to share his love of travel with them. They explored South Carolina, Emerald Isle, NC, and Deep Creek Lake with the grandchildren. After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July of 2022, one of John's final desires was to travel with Mary and his children and grandchildren with the time that he had remaining. He and Mary were able to make trips to Arizona, Maryland and Delaware, South Carolina, Ashville, and the Cayman Islands. The family was able to make a return trip to Emerald Isle, NC just a month before he passed away, creating many final, wonderful, lasting memories. During these trips he was also able to visit with many dear friends, and he cherished these times immensely. John embraced life - whether it was spending time with those he loved, exploring the wonders of God's creation on his many travels, working diligently in his career, giving generously of his resources to others, or simply enjoying a quiet night on his patio listening to music with his bride. He also learned to embrace death - sharing Christ with those who cared for him in the hospital, writing to those he loved with frequent email updates on his journey through cancer, and taking the time to slow down and spend time in God's word as his cancer progressed. He lived the essence of Psalm 90:12 to those around him, "Teach us, Lord, to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. "John is survived by his wonderful wife, Mary Mitchell White; his children: Laura (Jacob) Alianello of Cattaraugus, NY and Matthew (Jessica) White of Harmony, PA; and 6 grandchildren: Mackenzie White, Evelyn Alianello, Zoey Alianello, Owen White, Addison White, and Sadie White; a brother, Lee (Chris) White of Montgomery Village, MD; a sister, Janice Carman of Murrells Inlet, SC; five brother-in-laws: Steven (Kathy) Mitchell, Stanely Mitchell, James Mitchell, Thomas (Carol) Mitchell, and David Mitchell; a sister-in-law, Ann Mitchell; and numerous nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Bill Carman. A visitation will be held at Boylan-Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 130 Wisconsin Avenue, Cranberry Township, PA 16066 on September 22, 2023 from 10am-11am with the memorial service immediately following. The family wishes memorial contributions be made to Bay Area Community Church, 884 Chesterfield Road, Annapolis, Maryland 21401.Show more
