Charlene Yvonne Essary

Jun 16, 1972 - Jan 31, 2024

location-icon

Menifee, CA

It is with immense sorrow that we announce on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024, the world lost a beautiful soul. After a courageous and long battle with mental health, Charlene Yvonne Essary, beloved Daughter, Sister, Mother, and Grandmother, passed away unexpectedly and far too soon, in her home at 51 years young in Menifee, California. Charlene had a vivacious life, filled with a huge family that cherished every moment with her. She was born on June 16th, 1972 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was the protective, compassionate and brave mother of her three daughters, Cassey Walker, Christi Little and Chelsea Anderson, who will carry her memory with them each and every day, along with her six beautiful grandchildren, Sydney, James, Joseph, Chloe, Hayden and Jaxson. Charlene was the daughter of the late Johnny Spears, her loving mother, Lovella Cox-Adams and devoted step-father, Joe Adams. She is preceded in death by her brother, Ray Spears; her fur-babies, Bailey, Dixie and Molly; and her soulmate and husband, Joseph Truman Essary II. She is survived by her siblings, Wade, JoAnne, Jeannie and Rob; several nieces and nephews, and her dog, Sophia. Charlene was a homemaker for many years, being a sounding board, confidante and best friend to her children. She then embarked on a new journey for further education and completed her certification through technical trade school. Shortly after, she relocated to California where she dedicated a decade of her life as a Warranty Manager to Camping World and was able to see her first grandchildren grow into exceptional young men. Despite the darkness she faced in her life, Charlene was the brightest light to everyone that had the privilege to know her, to love her and to create memories with her. She had a vibrant personality, and while she was humble, she exuded confidence, beauty and grace with every step she took, every word she spoke and every choice she made in this life. Above all, Charlene valued family over everything. She was incredibly proud to see her daughters grow into the caring, nurturing, strong-willed women she taught them to be, just like her. She was a truly selfless, resilient woman with an amazing sense of humor and beautiful laugh. She brought an abundance of joy to those around her. She was always behind the camera, making sure to document moments that were so special to her, and shopping for anything and everything that would make her family and friends smile. Thanks to Charlene, her family will not need to purchase a bag for at least a few generations. Charlene leaves behind a void in our hearts that cannot possibly be filled, a yearning for one more talk, one more hug, and one more smile. We will carry her wisdom, her mindfulness and her strength in our hearts and pass it down to our children, and they will know who it came from. As we say goodbye to Charlene, we will treasure each moment we had and hold our breaths as we await the day we can see her, hold her and talk to her again. We push through the pain of her loss knowing she is at peace and with her love, Joseph again, watching over us and smiling as she always did. Charlene believed that this life is not the end for any of us. She believed that we will all be reunited one day in a place where there is no pain or suffering, no trauma or fear, only love and peace. That, we know in our hearts, she has found. Mama, We want you to know how much we value everything you did for us and taught us along the way. We hope you can see us now, coming together and leaning on each other like you would have wanted, laughing together and picking each other up like you would if you were here. We’re grateful for the strength you gave us and the confidence you had in us. We’ll carry you with us every day like you asked. You better save us some seats up there. We’re counting the moments until we can see you again. With all our love and adoration, Your girls.

Geraldine Scarbrough, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2024, in Menifee, California, at the age of 87. Born on April 12, 1936, in Harlen County, Kentucky, Geraldine lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her church, and her community. Geraldine, affectionately known by all who loved her as simply Gerry, was a woman whose presence was a source of warmth and kindness. She shared a beautiful journey of 72 years with her loving husband, Charles Edward Scarbrough Sr., a partnership that was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. Together, they built a family that included their cherished daughter, Carol Ann Scarbrough and son Charles Edward Scarbrough Jr, who is now deceased, two adored grandchildren, and a treasured great-grandchild who brought Gerry immense joy. Her professional life was spent serving others, first as a bank teller and later as a clerk for Alpha Beta Grocery Stores. Geraldine's work ethic and friendly demeanor made her a beloved figure among colleagues and customers alike. Her dedication to her roles was only surpassed by her commitment to her family and her faith. Gerry’s heart was most at home within the walls of her church. Her deep faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she expressed it through her involvement in various church activities. She sang with grace in the church choir, played the organ with passion, and was a driving force behind the establishment of the church's food pantry, ensuring that no one in her community went hungry. Gerry's work with World Ministries further exemplified her desire to serve and spread compassion beyond her immediate surroundings. Her talents extended beyond her church service, as Gerry found solace and joy in sewing. The garments and quilts she crafted were not just pieces of fabric stitched together but tangible expressions of her love and care. Her hands, always busy in service of others, were never idle. Those who knew Gerry would describe her as loving, kind, and faith-filled. She was a woman who practiced her beliefs and embraced everyone with an open heart. Her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered. Gerry's family was her pride and joy. She was a pillar of strength and support, always there with a listening ear and a comforting word. Her daughter, Carol Ann, benefited from her wisdom and grace, while her grandchildren and great-grandchild were the recipients of her boundless love and the stories she would share. She was a cherished sister to her brothers Ralph and Bobby, and a respected mother-in-law to Deborah Silber-Scarbrough. Each family member found in Gerry a guiding light and a source of unconditional love. Gerry's legacy is one of unwavering faith, selfless service, and an abundance of love. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched. Though she has departed from this earthly realm, the melody of her voice in the church choir and the warmth of her kindness will resonate forever. As we bid farewell to Gerry Scarbrough, also affectionately known as G-Maw, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that enriched the world. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she has found eternal peace and joy, leaving behind a trail of light for all to follow. Gerry will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love and faith will endure for generations to come.
