Helen Catherine Lindhart, age 76, of North Branch, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at her home in North Branch, MN. Helen was born in Edzell, Scotland on April 23, 1947 to parents, Joseph and Catherine (Strachan) McCurrach. She met her future husband, John, while he was stationed overseas in the Navy. It wasn't long before the two fell in love and were married on October 3, 1964. Through this union, they were blessed with two children, Catherine and Kenneth. Helen loved being a mom, grandma and spending time with family and friends. She was an amazing cook and baker, everyone fought over the caramels she made every Christmas. She was a collector of the English royal family chinaware and enjoyed traveling back home to visit family in Montrose, Scotland. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth; and brother, George. She will remain in the hearts of her loving husband of 59 years, John Lindhart; daughter, Catherine Leslie; granddaughter, Emily Leslie; brother, Frank McCurrach; and many other extended family and friends. Memorial service for Helen will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch with a visitation one hour prior to service at church. Private burial to follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Legion Auxiliary.

Terrence (Terry) James Butler, age 87, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He is preceded in death by his wife June (Carlson) Butler, parents William and Florence (Peasley) Butler, brother, Thomas, son-in-law Thomas Pearson, and grandson Ryan Johnson. He is survived by his five children Julie (Thomas) Praus, Timothy (Susan), Mary Jo (Patrick) Johnson, Colleen (Kenneth) Adams, and Erin Pearson; by ten grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren and sisters, Bonnie (Arvid) Gutzwiller and Barbara (Dennis) Angland. Terry was born in Saint Paul, MN, attended elementary school in Minneapolis, and graduated from Minneapolis Vocational High School and Technical Institute in 1954. He enlisted in the US Naval Reserve three months before HS graduation and served for 10 years as a Reciprocating Engine Mechanic at the Naval Reserve Base in Minneapolis. In 1959, he participated in the search for the airplane crash site where Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, and the Big Bopper were killed. He married his first wife, Joan (Eaton) Butler, in 1957 and they lived in Crystal, MN, later moving to his beloved 40-acre farm in rural North Branch in 1968. Terry worked as a testing and repair mechanic and supervisor for the D. W. Onan Company in Fridley, MN for more than 35 years. Joan and Terry divorced in 1986 and Terry married June Carlson in 1997. Terry had a passion for old Ford cars and trucks, antique tractors, vintage "warbird" aircraft, the Green Bay Packers, and rural living. He loved the peace, solitude and wildlife found on the farm, and he could be found most days after retirement working in his shop and reading or watching old movies and TV shows with June in the evenings. His automotive pride and joys were the cars and tractors he restored in his garage and shop: a 1936 Ford Coupe, a 1956 T-Bird, a 1950 Mercury, a 1946 John Deere "B," and a 1945 Ford "N" tractor. He was a long-standing member of the Sno-Drifters Snowmobile Club, the Minnesota Street Rod Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and American Legion Post #85 in North Branch. Terry spent the final three years of his life at the Ecumen Care Center in North Branch, where he was visited every week by a variety of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was well-loved by the Ecumen community, and passed away as a gentle soul who will be greatly missed. The family commends the care and support provided by the Ecumen staff, Bluestone Physicians, and Saint Croix Hospice. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 3:00 p. m. at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A reception will follow the service at the North Branch American Legion Post #85. Wilbur (Bill) McGrorty of St Croix Falls Wisconsin, age 82, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023. Wilbur was born to Marcus and Phyllis McGrorty, in Minneapolis, on June 13th, 1941. He was very close to his brothers and sisters (Dorothy, Mary Lou, Mike, Mark) and talked often about growing on Ivy lane in Minneapolis. He joined the Marie Corp in 1959 and served in the Eastern part of the world. On May 25th, 1963, Wilbur married Kathy Draus and was blessed with 2 children, Vic and Kelly. Wilbur and Kathy owned multiple businesses throughout their lives: DX gas station, McGrorty's Auction Service, McGrorty's Flea Market, River Rats Discount Store. Wilbur also worked at Foley Food Mill, Chicago Northwestern Railway, Christ The King Church, Kroy/UFE at various points in his life. Wilbur loved to make people laugh and made countless friends. His hobbies included fishing, golf, cribbage, cards and visiting with friends and family. Wilbur's greatest achievements in life are 60 years of marriage and 50 years of sobriety and helping others. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, The American Legion, announcing car races in Centuria. AA Meetings and helping others achieve sobriety. Wilbur will be forever missed by his children; Vic and Kelly, his grandchildren; Collin, Cory, Andy, Grace, and great grandchildren; Frankie, Emmie, Finnegan, Josie and Ellie and his little buddy Irish (Golden retriever). Wilbur is now reunited in Heaven with his loving wife Kathy. A private celebration of life will be held at a later time.Show more
