Obituary of Helen E. Jarvis Helen E. Jarvis, 92, of Holden Avenue, Peru and formerly longtime resident of the Jarvis Road, died Monday, April 22, 2019 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Peru, December 28, 1926, the daughter of John and Alice (Allen) Boswell. She grew up in Peru and graduated from Peru Central School in 1944. Helen and husband Bernard were high school sweethearts and king and queen of their Junior Prom. Separated by WWII, Helen moved to Rochester, NY where she worked as a telephone operator for NY Tel during the War. Following WWII, Bernard followed her to Rochester, securing a position with Kodak and Underwood Typewriter Company. The couple were married in Rochester on January 25, 1947. Returning to Peru, Bernard secured work at G.W. Parker's Ford Car Garage before starting Peru Farm Center in 1954. At this time, with a growing family, and a new business, Bernard found the time to build a family home on the Arthur Jarvis farm on Jarvis Road in 1956. Bernard predeceased Helen on September 29, 2008. Helen was a homemaker while her 4 children were at home, but as a co-owner of Peru Farm Center, she later acquired on the job skills to become the bookkeeper in the business until she and Bernard retired in 1990. Left to cherish the memory of Helen are, her loving children, Barbara Bungo and Joanne Jarvis, both of Houston, TX, Mark Jarvis and Amanda Hapeman, Thomas Jarvis and wife Nanci, and loving daughter in law Mary Jarvis, all of Peru. Grandchildren include Brent Jarvis, wife Amanda and great grandson, Ayden. Lauren Jarvis, husband Rocco Roselli and great grandchildren, Caden, Gianna, and Dante. Elise Bungo, husband Eric Rodriguez, and great grandson Lucas; Jonathan Bungo, wife Kara Bentley and great granddaughter Paige, Benjamin Jarvis and great grandson Jake; Karri Carrasquillo husband David and great granddaughters Jordan and Zoe; as well as Ryan Hapeman and wife Samantha. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Harrison, Patrick and Ray Boswell as well as her beloved sister Phyllis McCormick, as well as in-laws Margaret Jarvis Murphy, Arthur Jarvis, and Catherine Jarvis Thompson and her dearly beloved grandson, Adam Jarvis who died on December 23, 2006, and several nieces and nephews. Helen's family will greet relatives and friends, Friday, April 26, 2019 from 10 to 11 AM at St. Augustine's Church in Peru. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM with Rev. Alan D. Shnob, parish priest, celebrating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of her grandson to The Foundation of CVPH for The Adam Jarvis Scholarship Fund at UVM Health Network CVPH, 75 Beekman Street, Plattsburgh 12901.
