On the morning of November 16th, 2023, Neil Douglas "Doug" Priest stepped into his heavenly home. He was a native of Moore County, born on November 9, 1958 to the late Daniel Patrick and Hallie Gwyn Priest. Doug grew up on the family farm and learned a way of life that he grew to love. Seeing things grow brought him great joy. Doug was married to his lifelong sweetheart, Angela Womble Priest for 44 years. Together they built a loving home for their children, Aaron Priest (wife, Heidi) of Carthage, Mary Laura King (husband, Graylin) of Apex, Dawn Perry (husband, Danny) of Carthage, and Virginia Baker (husband, Krystofer) of Cameron. Doug shared his love of hard work, carpentry, woodworking, hunting, and fishing with his family and friends. He took pride in being able to help others, always jumping into action any time someone called for help. He has left his treasured handiwork in the homes and lives of many that he knew and loved. He instilled his Christian values in the lives of his grandchildren, along with a spark of mischievousness. Doug was quick to share a picture and a story about his recent adventures and accomplished moments centered around his grandkids. He was a proud "Papa" to Trevor, Mallory and Isabella King; Oliver, Harris and Case Perry; and Abner, Elijah, Abigail and Miriam Priest. Two more blessings are on the way. Doug was a loving brother to his siblings. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Patrick "Shorty" Priest, Jr. and Latham Gwyn. He is survived by Jean Priest Marsh (Bill) of Carthage and Mary Priest MacLean of South Port, Owen Priest (Christine) of Seagrove, and Huey Priest (Cindy) of Carthage. He spent countless hours with Jerry Waylon Boyd who was more than a brother to him. Their lifelong friendship created a relationship that ran like a well-oiled machine. You would often find Doug in his shop, working on a project for someone or tinkering on an idea that was waiting to be manifested. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and soaking in God's glory. The family is receiving friends and loved ones at their home in Carthage.
