Helen Irene Graef, 83, of Stanford, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023 in Lexington, Kentucky. Irene was born May 17, 1940, in JACKSON COUNTY, Kentucky, to the late Eugene Lane and Ruth (Allen / Lane) Marsee. She recently celebrated 60 years of marriage to her loving husband, Ronald Graef, whom she wed on July 20, 1963, in Newtown, Ohio. She served the Lord faithfully as a pastor's wife for 35 years at Evangel Baptist Church in Taylor, Michigan and also served previously at First Baptist Church in Stryker, Ohio; Tri-Lakes Baptist Church in Columbia City, Indiana; and also as interim at Bethesda Baptist Church in Brownsburg, Indiana; and Walnut Ridge Baptist Church in Waterloo, Iowa. She was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Stanford, Kentucky. She lived out the great commandment and the second commandment given by Jesus in Matthew 22 in her actions, her interactions and her prayers, extending God's love to her family, her church family, her friends and people she encountered around the world. She was devoted to her family, from caring for her husband and three sons to spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives. She held degrees from Sue Bennett College, Cedarville College, Central State University and Wayne State University, and she worked as a teacher and as a registered nurse. She was deeply interested in genealogy and enjoyed researching and learning about her family's history, and she had a keen interest in Civil War-era history. In addition to her husband, Irene is survived by her three sons, Steve (Lori) Graef of Toledo, Ohio; Tom (Gela) Graef of Stanford; and David (Monika) Graef of Kentwood, Michigan. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, David (Randie Megan) Graef of Waddy, Kentucky; Jessica Allen of Danville, Kentucky; Tyler (Ellen) Graef of Toledo, Ohio; Hannah Graef of Stanford; Aidan Graef of Stafford, Virginia; Abby Graef of Kentwood, Michigan; and Olivia Graef of Kentwood, Michigan; and five great-grandchildren, Ryenne, Aubrey, Primrose and Heath Graef, all of Waddy; and Annabella Allen of Danville. Irene is also survived by her brother, Mike (Wendy) Marsee of Junction City, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Millie Manuel, and her stepfather, Jack Marsee. Care Cremation and Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with final care.

Jane Roberts Libertoski, age 76, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on December 2, 2023, at CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, following a brief illness. She was surrounded by her devoted family during her final moments. Born on May 21, 1947, in Lexington to the late James Roberts and Emma (Jones) Roberts. Jane graduated from Bryan Station High School in 1964 and continued her education at the University of Kentucky, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She furthered her academic pursuits with a Master's Degree from Georgetown College. For 24 years, she dedicated herself to teaching and caring for children as a beloved school teacher at Southern Elementary, retiring in 2005. In 2004, Jane found companionship and love with Dennis Libertoski, whom she married after a joyful introduction by her best friend, Diana Cantrell. Together, Jane and Dennis created a warm and loving home that served as an inspiration to their children and grandchildren. Their life together epitomized true love. Jane, known for her exceptional hosting, cooking and baking, delighted friends and family with countless memorable meals. The couple enjoyed years as snowbirds in Venice, Florida, with Jane's favorite song, "Cheeseburger in Paradise," setting the soundtrack for each journey to their Florida home. Jane is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis, her son Kevin (Lashanda) Stewart, granddaughter Zaniyah, son Jamie Stewart, and brother Robert Dickson (RC). Jane's memory will be cherished by her numerous stepchildren and grandchildren, who affectionately hold "Gramma Jane" in their hearts, carrying her spirit with them throughout their lives. She will be deeply and eternally missed by all who were touched by her love and kindness. Benedict Joseph Hayden was born on April 2, 1940 and passed away on November 28, 2023 at the age of 83. Ben was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Dianne Edelen Hayden, his parents Mary Belle and James Mills Hayden, Sr. , and his sisters Mary Margaret Allen and Elizabeth Phelps. Ben is survived by his sisters Matilda Dillard, Patricia Ann Abel, and Eleanor Thomas, brother James Mills Hayden, Jr. , children Beth Browning (Bob), David Hayden (Amy) and Mary Queen (Micheal), grandchildren Jessica Hatton (Steven), Sara Lucas (Josh), Kayla Crask (Nick), Tyler Browning (Ellen), Sam Hayden, and Nicolas Hayden, and great-grandchildren Arwyn Hatton, Colt Lucas and Jack Browning. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. Ben grew up in Lebanon, KY where he attended school at St. Augustine. After graduating from high school, Ben proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. In 1958 he met his wife Dianne Edelen, at a drive-in restaurant in Lebanon, KY where they had a chocolate milkshake. They were married in 1961. Ben worked in banking for over 50 years. In his free time, he loved watching Western movies and the Kentucky Wildcats. He always appreciated a good Bourbon, and a good batch of spaghetti and meatballs. He also enjoyed completing his cross word puzzles and sudoko. Ben greatly enjoyed wood working and making things for his family and friends. He loved making people think, and loved making them laugh even more with his jokes and pranks. Our family is grateful to know that he is reunited with his beloved Dianne, and he is now at peace. Susan Elaine Scott Funeral Time: Wednesday, December 6th at 1:00PM Obituary for Susan Elaine Scott Susan Elaine Scott entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 26, 2023, in her sleep at home after a short battle with cancer. Susan was the daughter of Joan Kruthoffer and the late Doddridge Scott. Susan was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on January 6, 1960, and lived her entire adult life in Lexington, Kentucky. She graduated with honors from Russell High School in 1978 and Transylvania University in 1982 with a degree in history and went on to become the Office Manager for Kruthoffer Planning and Service Company for several decades, from where she eventually retired. She had a sharp mind and loved all things involving history and was known for being the "family historian. " Although small in stature, she was mighty for standing up for the principles that she believed in; a trait that began as a child. She had a strong love for her God, family, friends, and our country. She especially loved reading her Bible and watching Christian TV shows with her mother. Susan loved all animals and enjoyed the company of her sweet dogs, Ike, and Anna Belle. Susan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Burris Bryan, Jr. ("Bill B. ") who she enjoyed 30+ wonderful years with. Although they never had children, they shared a deep love for their many nieces and nephews, their fur babies, UK sports, and riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle together. They were known for their indelible kindness and kindred spirit. Susan is survived by her mother Joan Kruthoffer, brother, Bob (Caroline) Scott , brother Mark Kruthoffer and brother, Jay Kruthoffer, devoted sister-in-law, Bonnie (Steve) Thornton and Aimee (David) Severson; nieces, Kristin Ramey, Katie (Stu) Gardner, Mandy (Michael) Evans and Emilie Kruthoffer; nephews, Dodd Kinder, Luke Scott, Zach Scott, Sawyer Scott, Larkin Kruthoffer, Mitchell (Sarah) Thornton, David T (Laura) Severson, Talbot Severson, Todd Severson and Dylan (Robbie) Severson; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Susan was also preceded in death by her sister Debbie Kinder, brother-in-law, Robert Kinder, her brother, David Scott and her stepfather, Robert Kruthoffer. Cora Sue Robertson, known affectionately to friends and family as Sue, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2023, at the age of 90 in Lexington, Kentucky. Born on November 10, 1933, in Ulvah, Kentucky, Sue was a beacon of kindness and selflessness, touching the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Sue was predeceased by her loving husband, Hugh L. Robertson, Jr. , her parents, Calvin and Stella Brown Collins, and her siblings Otis Collins, Amos Collins, Shirley Dean Silvey, Lois Jean Sexton, and Joyce Foley Roberts. She is survived by her brother Onis Collins, and sisters Mavis Ruth (Bruce) Steinbicker and Jo Ann Dixon. Sue's legacy continues through her devoted son Steve Robertson, her caring daughter-in-law Kathryn Robertson, and her cherished grandchildren Keelin Alannah, Benjamin Crain, and Vivienne Monroe Robertson. A lifelong resident of Kentucky, Sue's warm spirit and down-to-earth demeanor were hallmarks of her personality, making her a beloved figure in her community. For 48 years, she dedicated herself to her work as a cosmetologist, where she not only catered to the needs of her clients but also formed lasting friendships with many of them. Sue's life was a testament to the power of love and dependability. Everyone who knew her was touched by her selfless nature. Sue was never one to ask for help if she could avoid it, but the first to offer it when needed. She had a strong and faithful relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ and practiced His teachings in her everyday life. Her family was the center of Sue's world. She was a loving wife, a nurturing mother, and an adoring grandmother. Sue's grandchildren meant the world to her and her creative ways of doting on the children have become traditions incorporated into their families. Sue's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, but her spirit will continue to inspire us. Her life was a beautiful example of compassion in action, and her memory will be a treasure held dear by all who were fortunate enough to be part of her life. As we say goodbye to Sue, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, friendship, and service to others. She will be deeply missed, but the memories of her kindness and her enduring smile will remain with us always. A service to honor Sue's life will be held by the family. Ida Wellwood Black, 96, went home to be with Jesus and her family on November 29, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents and four siblings Ralph, Edna, Francis and Ernie; her husband, Harold Roy Black, and her children Fredrick Carl Black, Cynthia Louise Black, and Bruce Harold Black. She is survived by granddaughter Rachel Allison Black, Fred's beloved wife Sandra Suhren Hamblin, and her children, Pierce Walker Hamblin and Rebekah Hamblin Mikec (Ryan), as well as close friends and caretakers Shelley Baker and Allison Bowman. She is also survived by daughter Bonnie Black Adams, and grandchildren Heather Adams Olvera (Skylar), and Joshawa Hunter Adams. Ida was born in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba on May 20, 1927, the youngest child of Laverne and Clarence Wellwood. Mrs. Black was a graduate of Bradenton High School in Florida and moved to Kentucky in 1947 to attend the University of Kentucky where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She met Harold Black at First United Methodist Church in Lexington, where they were later married in 1950. They lived in Cooperstown while at UK, and later in Oak Ridge, TN, and Elizabethtown, KY before settling back in Lexington. She was a member of Park United Methodist Church, Trinity Hill United Methodist Church, and most recently was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class at Centenary United Methodist Church. An avid gardener, she was an active member of the Hoe 'n Hope Garden Club and could be seen every evening with a water hose in hand, tending to her sprawling gardens. She loved to cook and crochet for her friends and family. Her houseboat, "Black's Idaway," on Herrington Lake hosted generations of guests for over 30 years. Although allergic to horses, she was an excellent rider and she and Harold were enthusiastic members of the Elkhorn Saddle Club and the Indiana Trail Riders Association. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 4th from 10:00-12:00 am with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 pm at Milward Funeral Home on Southland Drive. David Zaner Schumacher passed away of natural causes on November 28, 2023, in Lexington, KY. Born on April 9, 1952, in Lansing, MI. Dave graduated from Waverly High School, setting a good example for his siblings. A career pathway that led to being a hard-working Shift Supervisor at Awrey Bakery in Livonia, MI. Known for his quick thinking and bravery, Dave once saved the life of a colleague, an act that spoke volumes about his character. Beyond his professional life, Dave was a man of many interests. He was an avid poker player, he loved classic cars especially during Woodward Dream Cruise, watching documentaries of military and world history, and watching University of Michigan football. Dave cherished each one of his pets throughout his life. He was a frequent donor of his rare O-negative blood type which showed his selfless willingness to help others. Predeceased by his father, Frances Zavier Schumacher and his mother Geraldine Dorothy Brown, as well as his siblings Duane Schumacher, Elizabeth Chrispell, and Donnie Martz. Dave is survived by his brothers, Roland, Dennis, and Jeff, his sisters Patty Parish and Carol Zisa. His wife, Kay Schumacher, stood by him through every chapter of their life together. Dave's legacy will also live on through his sons, Bryce and Kirk Schumacher, who will continue the life lessons their father imparted upon them.
