Edward Heath

Age - 87

November 29, 2023

Edward Lee (Buddy) Heath passed away on November, 27th, at the age of 87 after a sudden illness with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave Heath and Deatrice Shields Heath, his brother Foy Heath and his oldest sister Dorothy Heath Clonts, and both brothers-in-law Eugene Clonts and Carlos Shaw. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gail Reynolds Heath, his daughter Karen (Todd) Entrekin and his son Shane (Kim) Heath, his sister Eva Shaw, his two Aunts Donaleen Shields Marbut and Catherine Shields Marbut, his grandchildren: Colee (Ryan) Hill, Mallori (Justin) Entrekin, Jacob (Hannah) Entrekin, Josh Heath and Jarett Heath and great grandchildren Avalyn Hill and Alethea Entrekin, and several nieces and nephews. Buddy was born November 18, 1936 and lived in Hokes Bluff his entire life. He graduated from Hokes Bluff High School in 1955 where he was selected for All County Football. He married the love of his life Gail Reynolds in 1960. Buddy served in the Alabama National Guard for 6 years. He retired from Goodyear in 1994 with 39 of years of service at the age of 58. He was a member of Hokes Bluff Methodist Church. Buddy Heath was beloved by his family and those who knew him. He was a kind, softspoken man of few words, a firm believer in live and let live. He loved his family and he showed it every day. He was a modern-day example that your actions speak much louder to who you are than your words. He was slow to anger, and quick to encourage in all situations. He seldom offered his opinion unless asked but rest assured you knew where he stood and when he saw a wrong, he would do his best to make it right. He loved a good practical joke and liked to laugh and have a good time. He had a lifelong love of fast cars and homemade ice cream. His success in life came from his Spartan like work ethic and his disciplined approach for all things to be done the right way. He will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held at Collier Butler Funeral Home on Thursday November 30th. Visitation will be from 9:30AM to 10:45AM. Chapel service will be at 11:00AM with a graveside service to follow at Youngs Chapel Cemetery. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the healthcare staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center as well as special thanks to Dr. Jarrod Warren, Dr. Andy Vann, Dr. Stephen Higgins, Dr. Layla Wrenn, Angel Giles, Robin Doss, and Dr. Vipul Amin.Show more
