Heidi Marie Walcott of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at her residence surrounded by her loved ones at 6:41 a. m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the age of 58. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and insisted that life go on as normal. Cancer wasn't going to interfere with all of the precious time she was able to spend with her family. Those that knew Heidi, understood that she would never let this illness or her enduring pain get in her way even throughout her treatment. Her lovely smile and big heart kept her going. She was born on February 22, 1965, in Goshen, Indiana to Helen D. (Lange) Troyer and Donald Allen Troyer. Heidi grew up in Goshen and was a 1983 graduate of Fairfield High School. On April 27, 1985, she married the love of her life and best friend, Daniel A. Walcott. They shared 38 wonderful years together before Heidi passed away. Heidi served alongside her husband, Dan, in their family business as the vice-president of Eagle Outdoor Advertising in Warsaw which they founded in 1985. Her family stated that Heidi was the glue that kept the company heading in a positive path, she was the voice of reason. Heidi was the one who was always organized. She attended Bethany Community Church in New Paris. Heidi was an absolute inspiration to everyone who knew her, had a great sense of humor, and dearly loved being Mom and Grandma! She always had enough time and love for family, especially spoiling her grandchildren. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister who will be dearly missed. She leaves behind her husband, Daniel Walcott (Warsaw, IN); two sons, Darren Walcott, Brandt (Lindsay) Walcott (both of Warsaw, IN); and her beloved three grandchildren, Marlie, Addie and Myles Walcott. Also surviving are her parents, Parents, Donald and Helen Troyer; and two sisters, Tammy (Joe) Sparklin and Laura (Jim) Magnus (all of Millersburg, IN) Heidi's life will be celebrated privately by her family, thoughts and prayers are appreciated. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana. Memorial donations may be directed to Fair Haven at Ada's Place, 1702 W 16th St, Indianapolis, IN 46202. Fair Haven lifts a burden for families while in Indianapolis by providing them with a home-away-from-home. Their mission is sharing the love of Christ through gracious hospitality and compassionate support. Having a convenient and comfortable place to stay near the hospital means that seriously-ill patients can get the life-saving care they need, and it means that families can be together when they need each other most.

Reese Edwin "Ed" Toole, 89, of Goshen, died Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at The Laurels of Goshen. He was born May 9, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to Winfred Reese and Margaret Toole. He grew up in Chicago's Canaryville and graduated from Tilden High School. While living in Chicago, he became involved with Moody Bible Institute's grade school ministry, eventually being baptized and becoming an active member in this church. In the late 1950's, he volunteered at Evanson Hospital. During this time, he met his wife, Shirley Amstutz. They married August 19, 1961 in Kidron, Ohio. She died October 19, 2017. Ed was a graduate of Allied Institute of Technology, where he earned an Engineering degree. For over 30 years, he worked as a draftsman at various companies, including; Chicago Faucet, Dresser Industries, and Lab Line Instruments. He started his working career delivering telegrams to Chicago office buildings. Ed and Shirley settled in Elmhurst, Illinois, where they lived almost 30 years. Upon retirement, they moved to Kidron, and then to Goshen to be near family. Over the years, he enjoyed working on cars and home construction projects; rebuilding engines, adding room additions, or finishing basements were all projects he took on. He is survived by two sons, Kendall R. (Barb) Toole of Goshen, and Harley (Roselin) Toole of Bourbonnais, Illinois; five grandchildren, Hannah (Jami) Mitcham, Kirsten (fiance Tim Penick) Toole, Benjamin Toole, Sarah Toole, and Catherine Toole; a step-grandson, Andrew (Alexia) Branum; and a step-great-granddaughter; a sister, Margaret Hollandsworth of Ellenboro, North Carolina and four brothers, Frank Toole of Crandall, Indiana, Bill (Carol) Toole of Burbank, Illinois, Richard (Linda) Toole of Downers Grove, Illinois, and Robert (Sue) Toole of Spring Hill, Florida. According to his wishes, there will be no public services. Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory. A private service will take place at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Effie Troyer, 96, a longtime resident of Greencroft, Goshen, passed away Saturday, November 11 at her daughter's home in Milford where she had moved to shortly before her death. She was born May 24, 1927 in LaGrange to Tobias and Ada (Mast) Yoder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Perry Troyer on May 15, 1978; a daughter, Barbara Troyer on November 14, 2014; five brothers Ervin, Amos, Raymond, Dan and Levi Yoder and four sisters, Susie Lehman, Mary Troyer, Anna Yoder and Alice Yoder. Effie is survived by two sons Marvin (Quoda) Troyer of New Paris and Mike Troyer of Elkhart; a daughter, Brenda (Terry) Zimmerman of Milford; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers Clarence (Ideana) Yoder, of Goshen and Ernest (Edna) Yoder of Shipshewana and three sisters, Ida Beachy of LaGrange, Ada Mae Yoder of Shipshewana and Esther Miller of LaGrange. A 10 a. m. graveside service will be held Thursday, November 16, at Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana with an 11 a. m. memorial service to follow at Shore Church. Her pastor Rev. Phil Jerome will officiate. Effie and her husband owned Troyer's Restaurant in Shipshewana for 11 years beginning in 1969. Later, Effie, co-owned Linway Family Restaurant in Goshen for five years. At various times Effie also worked as a cook for Greencroft and Goshen Hospital in The Pantry and kitchen. During her last working years, she stayed with elderly people in their homes, caring for their needs. In Effie's later years, she volunteered at Goshen Hospital in the gift shop and knitting baby hats and at Faith Mission, teaching sewing classes. An active member of Prairieview Missionary Church, she helped with funeral dinners. Effie was a talented seamstress and enjoyed knitting and handwork. Gerald L. Straw, 73, of Goshen died Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Elkhart General Hospital after two months of declining health. He was born November 25, 1949 in Goshen to Harold Straw and Elsie (Harshberger) Straw. A 1968 Goshen High School graduate, he married Carol Welsh in Goshen on October 4, 1970. She survives along with a son, Darby (Kim) Straw of Valparaiso; a daughter, Susan (Todd) Shidler of New Paris; and four granddaughters, Brooklyn, Adysen, Kinzie and Torrence. He is also survived by five siblings, Phillip (Ellen) Straw of Goshen, Duane Straw of Greenwood, Marilyn Keck of New Paris, Doris McFarren of Elkhart, and Lowell (Susan) Straw of West Lafayette. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by infant brothers, Ronald and Roger Straw, and a sister, Sharon Straw. Mr. Straw started Charger R. V. in 1989. He owned and operated the business until it was sold in 2019. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Goshen and Concord Rotary. Gerald enjoyed "competitive" grilling and woodworking. He and Carol enjoyed travelling together, especially when the weather turns cold and they become "snowbirds". Visitation will be Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p. m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 S. Main St. , Goshen. Jack Charles Kraus, known affectionately as Jack, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023, in Goshen, Indiana. Born on June 16, 1947, in La Porte, Indiana, to Charles and Rose (Comforte) Kraus, Jack was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His life was marked by dedication to his family, friends, his work, and his country. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie "Rose" (Levendoski) Kraus, whom he married on September 28, 1996. Their union brought together a beautiful blended family, including children Jennifer (John) Grant of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada, and Ryan (Brittany) Kraus of Anderson, Indiana, as well as stepchildren Michael Frederick and Christopher Frederick of La Porte. Jack was a proud grandfather to Ash, Hayden, Cayce, and Logan. He is also survived by his brothers, Jerry (Faith) Kraus of Greenwood, Indiana, and Tom (Nancy) Kraus of Fort Myers, Florida. Jack was a proud graduate of Purdue North Central, where he earned his bachelor's degree. He carried the same dedication and commitment to his professional life. Jack worked as a supervisor with NIPSCO for many years, demonstrating his leadership and commitment to his team. Later, he transitioned into a successful career as a real estate appraiser, where his keen eye for detail and understanding of the market were highly valued. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jack was a man of service. He served his country as a United States Marine, a role he was incredibly proud of. His commitment to his fellow servicemen and women extended beyond his active duty, as he was a member of the Marine Corps League in Michigan City and the Military Order of the Devil Dogs. His patriotism and dedication to service were an inspiration to all who knew him. Jack was also a member of the Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Church in La Porte. Jack Charles Kraus, a man of honor and integrity, who always lived his life to the fullest will be deeply missed. Services are pending at this time with Frank L. Gwin Meade, 85, of Goshen, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Strawberry House of The Laurels of Goshen. He was born December 12, 1937, in Pikeville, Kentucky to Willard and Maxie Meade. He was the second son of nine children. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Joe Meade. He is survived by his wife Judy; two children Stacy (Steve) Curtis and Tim (Kay) Meade; two step-daughters Debbie (Rich) Jones and Becky (Brent) Ragsdale; five grandchildren, Mike, Shelbie, Kyle, Scott and Stephanie; six great grandchildren, three brothers, Clinton (Pat) Meade, Ira Meade, Jackie (Trina) Meade; and sisters, Helen (Bill) Scholly, Lila (John) Blosser, Brenda (Craig) Crisp and Kathy (Danny) Collins. Gwin was employed by Conn Selmer, Elkhart for 38 years in supervision. He wintered for 18 years Sebring, Florida and enjoyed cruising with friends. He was a University of Kentucky fan and attended all of grandson, Mike's Concord High School football games. A US Army veteran, Gwin enjoyed puttering around his pole barn, going to garage sales, gardening and collecting and recycling aluminum cans. Vaughn Leedy, age 63, of Goshen, IN passed away at 12:00 a. m. , Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Waterford Crossings. He was born September 2, 1960 in Peru, IN to Roger Louis and Janet Rosemary (Annis) Leedy. Vaughn was a 1978 graduate of North Miami High School. On June 28, 1986 he married Sara Mast at Dunlap United Methodist Church. Vaughn had worked for Dynamic Metal Forming in Elkhart. He was a member of the Dunlap United Methodist Church. Vaughn loved old cars and Harley Davidson, Rock and Roll music, his dogs and enjoyed camping. His dad was an engineer on the railroad when he was growing up and loved to ride the train with his dad. His family also traveled a lot as a child and he had many childhood memories. He was very family oriented and loved his many nieces and nephews as if they were his own children. Surviving is his wife, Sara, Goshen; brother, Jim (Ellen) Leedy, Peru, IN; sisters, Kathy (Larry) Frank, Macy, IN, Sharon Riley, Mexico, IN; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10 a. m. - Noon, Friday, October 27, 2023 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee followed by a Noon funeral service also at the funeral home. Rev.
