Haven A. (Jack) Dempsey, 73, of Stoney Point, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. Born July 11, 1945 in Dubois, PA, he was the son of the late William B. Dempsey and Myrtle Freedline Dempsey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Dempsey; 2 brothers and a sister. Jack was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force after 23 years and served during the Vietnam War. He worked on jet engines and loved taking apart engines of all types and building them to run better. His main enjoyment was his family and he would do anything to help any of them. He is survived by his wife, Robin Howard Dempsey of the home; three sons: Kevin Dempsey and wife Melanie, Brian Dempsey and wife Tarlanda, James Dempsey and wife Heather; a daughter, Heather Mullins; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A private celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Bass-Smith Funeral Home is serving the family of Haven A. (Jack) Dempsey.
