Harvey Swearingen Jr Obituary

Harvey Swearingen Jr. , 82, formerly of Parke County, passed away, May 4, 2023, at Riverside Healthcare Center in Dayton, Ohio. He was born April 25, 1941, in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, the son of Harvey T. Swearingen and Delia B. McRory. Harvey attended Mecca High School and served in the U. S. Army. His work included cutting firewood and working around Parke County on several farms and sawmills. He attended various churches in Parke County. He was a member of American Legion Post #290 in Rosedale and VFW Paul Taylor Post #1752 in Rockville. Harvey enjoyed talking to people and writing poetry. He is survived by a stepbrother, Roy Marlin of Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Cliff Rivers; 2 sisters, Patty and Betty; 3 Brothers, Melvin, Floyd, and Asbury Swearingen; and stepsister, Beverly June Bacon. Funeral Services will be on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 2:00 p. m. , at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home, 111 East High Street, Rockville, Indiana. Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 p. m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville, Indiana, with military graveside rites. Memorial contributions may be made to a Veterans organization of one's choice.
