Harvey C. Frier Jr passed away peacefully at Palm Gardens Nursing Home on September 2, 2023, in Tampa FL at the age of 91. Harvey was born on January 31, 1932, in Tampa FL to Harvey Frier Sr. and Marie Frier. He graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1949 and later in life attended Hillsborough Community College where he obtained a real estate license. After high school, Harvey began a career with the Atlantic Coastline Railroad. In 1951, he married Shirley Barnett, who was introduced to him by his younger sister Joyce. Over the next 14 years, Harvey and Shirley welcomed their 3 sons into their home. Although times were tough, Harvey would work multiple jobs to provide for his family so that Shirley could stay home with their children. After retiring from the Railroad in 1970, Harvey began a second career as a Buyer for Ralston Purina. In 1993, after two retirements, Harvey and Shirley would spend their time at their cabin in Franklin, North Carolina enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery. Over the years they lived in several Florida locations, eventually settling in Tampa. For the past 20 years they lived in Temple Terrace and since 2005 have been faithful members of the University church of Christ in Tampa. Harvey is survived by his wife of 72 years Shirley; 3 sons - Ken of Cornelia GA, Steve of Middleburg FL, and Chris of Magnolia TX; sisters - Joyce Finch of Dowling Park, FL, and Jewel Moore of Sebring FL. He has 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey C. Frier Sr and Marie Frier of Tampa. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday September 8, 2023, at University church of Christ on Bruce B Downs in Tampa with a graveside service to follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery. Minister Josh Creel will officiate. The building will open at 9:30 AM for those wishing to pay their respects and speak with the family. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Harvey's life. Frier Jr. The family extends special thanks to the elders and members of the University church of Christ for their selfless support of Harvey and Shirley over the years. Their embodiment of Philippians 2:4, to look out for the interests of others, and 1 John 4:7, Beloved let us love one another, has been a true blessing for which the family is sincerely grateful.
