Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM on Friday, November 17, 2023, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 17, 2023, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Keith Warburg officiating. Interment will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Keith Warburg, Clark Crosby, Rex Patterson, Brian Amory, James Emory, and William Dalton. Honorary pallbearers will be Robbie Faircloth, Ray Nicholson, and Thomas Hurst. Born November 29, 1939, near Dothan, Alabama, Elizabeth was one of eight children. She married Lavon Patterson in 1962 and raised 6 children as a homemaker on their family dairy farm. Elizabeth loved gardening, cooking, canning vegetables, and more than anything else, she loved fishing. No matter how long it took, she would wait patiently for hours waiting for the perfect catfish, bringing home enough to feed the whole family, which was no small feat. Her children and grandchildren fondly remember her home-cooked meals - always from scratch, always more than was needed, so that everyone had enough and no one went hungry. She passed these skills onto her children and grandchildren, teaching them to value hard work, self-reliance, and how to take care of their own families. She spoiled her grandchildren with a never-ending supply of ice cream but also made sure they knew how to respect others. They will remember her most for her slow, sweet speech, her tight hugs, and the constant reminders that she loved them very much. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Malvia Powell; siblings Lester Powell, Jr. , Pete Powell, Donnie Trim, Joyce Kirkland, Annette Boutwell, Lessie Smith, Faye Bateman; son Wayne Patterson and son-in-law David Warburg, Jr. Mrs. Patterson is survived by her husband of 62 years, Annon Lavon Patterson; her sister, Martha Robbins; her children, Ricky Patterson (Michelle), Roy Patterson (Cathy), Theresa Warburg, Flora Ann Patterson Cook, and Wanda Williams (Jeff); her grandchildren, Jessica Patterson, Keith Warburg (Jami Lyn), Allison Amory (Brian), Clark Crosby (Taylor), Regan Dalton (Will), Angela Emory (Jamie), and Christy Mathis; and great-grandchildren Bailey and Kailey Emory, Matthew Phillips, Emi Lou and Graham Warburg, Thomas and Winston and Ellie Dalton, Saya and London Amory, Madison Losee, Amelia and Ava and Marshall Crosby, and Isabella Mathis.
