Leonard Paul "Todda" Hein,77, passed away peacefully at home on November 10, 2023, surrounded by his family & close friends. Leonard was born July 9,1946, in Rosenberg, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, EP and Evelyn Hein, brother Wilbur Hein, sister-in-law Frances Hein, and nephew Joshua Cotton. Leonard was a proud graduate from Lamar Consolidated High School Class of 1965. He made lifelong friends there. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Sam Houston State University in 1974 and made lifelong friends as well. Leonard was a Veteran and was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1967. He served from January 1967 - January 1969, where he earned the rank of Sergeant during that time, and received an Honorable Discharge from the military. Leonard played Little League baseball for the Rotarian Braves as a child and wanted to grow up to be a Rotarian. He attained that goal and was on the Board of Directors of LaPorte Rotary Club and earned seven Paul Harris awards. He attained the position of Vice President, President, and First President of the LaPorte Rotary Club. Leonard served on the Board of Directors for the LaPorte Chamber of Commerce, the LaPorte Boys & Girls Club, LaPorte Education Foundation and the Seafarers Center at Morgan's Point. While serving with the Angleton Chamber of Commerce, he earned the Ambassador of the Year Award. He also set a goal of becoming president of a bank. Leonard started that goal in Finance/Banking in 1973 with GE Credit. He worked as a Loan Officer/Commercial Lender for 1st National Bank of Lake Jackson, 1st National Bank of Angleton, Pasadena State Bank, LaPorte State Bank, Baytown State Bank, Southwest Bank of Texas, Amegy Bank, and Moody National Bank. He ended his 50-year career in banking with Trustmark National Bank as President of the Southeast Harris County market. Leonard was an active member in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rosenberg. While living in Angleton, he was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church Angleton, where he served as President and Treasurer of the Church Council. Leonard is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Jan Hein of Rosenberg, son Matthew Hein, son-in-law Jeremy Watkins, granddaughters Audrey and Annabel all of Dallas, brother-in-law Kevin Cotton and wife Kasi of Pearland, sister-in-law Deana Turner and husband Chris of Vidor; nephews Paul Hein & wife Sandra of Rosenberg, Greg Hein & wife Joy of Brenham, Jacob Cotton & wife Annissa of Spring, niece Jessica White & husband Jon of Lufkin; great nephew Sean Hein & wife Candace, great nieces Kaylie Herrera & husband Scooter, Morgan Hein; great nephew Nick Hein & wife Brittany, great niece Noelle & husband Art Hernandez, great nephew Brady White; great-great nephews & nieces Brooks Herrera, Carson Herrera, Christopher Hein, Lance Limos, Carlee Hein, Scarlett Hein, Cash Hein, and Parker Hein. Leonard loved God, his family, his friends and being a banker. He was loved and respected by all who knew him or had business with him. We will miss him greatly. The family wishes to thank The Grace Home Health Care Agency, Ola Odusanya, Samson Adebisi, Traditions Health Hospice Care, and Nicole, Edith, and Mary, the caregivers who were so kind to Leonard during his transition. Serving as Pallbearers will be Paul Hein, Greg Hein, Sean Hein, Nicholas Hein, Scooter Herrera, and Art Hernandez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Maurice Cook, Jacob Cotton, Carl Hardin, Raymond Hein, and the Lamar Consolidated Class of 1965. Visitation will be 9:30 - 10:00 AM Saturday, November 18, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1208 5th Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471, with the Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 AM. Interment with family and close friends will be held Saturday 2:00 PM at Zion Cemetery, CR 108, Iola, TX 77861.
