Harold Kurkowski, age 96, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Harold was born to Joseph and Elma Kurkowski on January 24, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan. He served in WW2 as Army Special Forces, will be remembered as the guy who would always lend a hand, and the best father figure to many. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings; and wife of 68 years, Betty Jean Milbank-Kurkowski. Harold is survived by: his daughter, Joy Kurkowski; sons, Ricky Kurkowski and Ronny Kurkowski; grandsons, Ellex Arnecke and Kenn Arnecke; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Blessed with 82 years of life, Terrell L. Veazey Sr. entered into his Heavenly home on November 29, 2023. He was born October 18, 1941, to Jim Patton Veazey and Ruby Louise (Hogue) Veazey in Carter, Mississippi. A beloved man with extraordinary qualities, Terrell was known by many for his innate zeal to serve others, a heart of gold, and acquiescent spirit willing to provide love, guidance, and solitude to those around him. After completing seminary at Gulf Coast Bible College, he pursued and practiced his call to pastor for over 25 years with the Pentecostal Church of God organization. It is here where he formed lifelong friendships, mentorships, and a community of those who would be present with him throughout his lifetime. Terrell was a humble and private man, unshakeable in his love for his family, a faithful shepherd to his congregation, a devoted and fervent man in his pursuit to lead others to Jesus Christ, and an avid lover of football and food. Genuine in the love he shared to others, he spoke to you with words of wisdom, love, discipline, and compassion that made you feel sincerely valued, unquestionably seen, and authentically heard. Terrell was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ruby Veazey; sons Mark Veazey and Terrell L. "Terry" Veazey Jr; and brothers Lewis Veazey and Charles G. "Jerry" Veazey. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Grace Veazey; his son, Carl Veazey; daughter, Tara (Joshua) Sherman; daughter, Melissa Pinter; son, Bobby (Jamie) Smith; daughter-in-law, Lisa Veazey; his grandchildren Trey (Jessica) Veazey, Joy Veazey and Ben (Kayla) Veazey, Brittany Veazey, Luke Sherman, Kirstie, Cody, and Colton Pinter; Cody Hembree, Dustin, Seth, and Ethan Smith; his brothers Jimmy and Robert Veazey; and his sister-in-law Shirley Veazey and Carolyn Veazey. Visitation will be Monday, December 4, from 4-7 p. m. at Lakeview Funeral Home. Doris G. Cornelson, 94, died on Thursday November 30, 2023 in Wichita, Kansas. She was born April 10, 1929 in Havelock Nebraska the daughter of Ivan L. and Mabel Elizabeth (Hunt) Armstrong. She married Raymond S. Cornelson on May 12, 1958 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2020. Doris attended Havelock Schools and graduated from Northeast High School, Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1947. She held many jobs in her life, including as a telephone operator in Lincoln, Nebraska and a school bus driver for USD 457, Garden City. Doris was the owner, operator of the snow-cone, cotton candy trailer for Cornelson's Big Valley Rides. She enjoyed reading, word find puzzles and knitting for her grandchildren. Doris was a member of the Garden City Chapter if the Kansas Good Sam's Camping Club and a life member of the Martha Washington Chapter of the Eastern Star of Lincoln Nebraska. Survivors include her three children-Cyndi Proffitt & spouse Ron of Garden City, Doug Cornelson of Wichita, Kansas, and Ramona "Rocky" of Wichita, Kansas; two daughters-in-law- Elaine Childers of Garden City and Pam Childers of Centerton, Arkansas; seven grandchildren- Justin (Hannah) Proffitt of Garden City, Lucas (Bethani) Proffitt of Lincoln, Nebraska, Brandon (Megan) Proffitt of Denver, Colorado, Michael (Courtney) Childers of Little Rock, Arkansas, Matthew (Angie) Childers of Bentonville, Arkansas, Sarah (Aaron) Phipps of Centerton, Arkansas and Tim Childers of Garden City, and sixteen great-grandchildren- Dominik Proffitt, Danika Proffitt, Marin Childers, Whit Childers, Libby Childers, Amelia Proffitt, Pierson Proffitt, Eleanor Proffitt, Landon Childers, Leyton Childers, Linley Childers, Elena Childers, Teagan Childers, Abigail Childers, Parker Phipps & Peyton Phipps. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her parents; two sons Stuart Childers and Ken Childers and two grandsons Bradley Ray Proffitt and Jacob Cornelson. Visitation will be held 12:00- 8:00 pm on Thursday December 7, 2023 and continue Friday December 8, 2023 from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm Funeral Service time, all at Garnand Funeral Home.
