HAROLD P. HANSEN November 22, 1938 - September 7, 2023 Cornwall, NY Harold P. Hansen, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on September 7, 2023 at The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, NY. He was 84 years old. The son of the late Osvald T. Hansen and Agnes J. (Berntsen) Hansen, Harold was born on November 22, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY. Harold graduated from Fort Hamilton High School, Brooklyn, in 1956. He honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy from 1957 to 1963. While stationed in Argentia, Newfoundland, he served as a plane mechanic and even serviced Air Force One during the Eisenhower administration. After the Navy, he worked with Fishman and Schottenstein Corporation earning his way up the ladder as a store, district and regional manager of Value City Stores. After eleven different moves across the Great Lakes and East Coast, he opened Value City in Newburgh and settled in Cornwall in 1981. He retired in 2000 after a successful 37-year career. Harold met his wife Marilyn at the social club, Sons of Norway, when he was 20 years old. They were married in 1962. When asked, he always said he chose her because she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. They raised three amazing children and were married for 61 years. He was an active member of Storm King Golf Club, Cornwall Lions Club, Sons of Norway and King of King Lutheran Church. Harold was a kind-hearted, loving man always filled with jokes. Never one to shy away from helping a friend out. He will be missed greatly. Harold is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn (Abrahamsen) Hansen; his daughter: Loriane Hansen-Kuemper (Al) of Alexandria, VA; his son: Robert Hansen (Olivia) of Norwalk, CT; his daughter-in-law Lynda Hansen of NC; his grandchildren: Lauren Stacey (Shane) of Cornwall, Erica Clemente (Eric) of FL, Christopher Hansen of ME, Samantha Hansen (Nick) of Beacon, Calli Hansen-Anderson (Kris) of ME, Lt. Peter Loiacono of TX, Matthew Loiacono of GA, and Victoria Hansen (Justin) of Manhattan; and his 6 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his son: Kenneth Hansen. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. and 6:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. on Wednesday, September 13th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc. , 337 Hudson Street Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Thursday, September 14th at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 543 Union Avenue, New Windsor, NY. Interment with Military Honors will follow the Service at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
