HAROLD P. HANSEN November 22, 1938 - September 7, 2023 Cornwall, NY Harold P. Hansen, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on September 7, 2023 at The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, NY. He was 84 years old. The son of the late Osvald T. Hansen and Agnes J. (Berntsen) Hansen, Harold was born on November 22, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY. Harold graduated from Fort Hamilton High School, Brooklyn, in 1956. He honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy from 1957 to 1963. While stationed in Argentia, Newfoundland, he served as a plane mechanic and even serviced Air Force One during the Eisenhower administration. After the Navy, he worked with Fishman and Schottenstein Corporation earning his way up the ladder as a store, district and regional manager of Value City Stores. After eleven different moves across the Great Lakes and East Coast, he opened Value City in Newburgh and settled in Cornwall in 1981. He retired in 2000 after a successful 37-year career. Harold met his wife Marilyn at the social club, Sons of Norway, when he was 20 years old. They were married in 1962. When asked, he always said he chose her because she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. They raised three amazing children and were married for 61 years. He was an active member of Storm King Golf Club, Cornwall Lions Club, Sons of Norway and King of King Lutheran Church. Harold was a kind-hearted, loving man always filled with jokes. Never one to shy away from helping a friend out. He will be missed greatly. Harold is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn (Abrahamsen) Hansen; his daughter: Loriane Hansen-Kuemper (Al) of Alexandria, VA; his son: Robert Hansen (Olivia) of Norwalk, CT; his daughter-in-law Lynda Hansen of NC; his grandchildren: Lauren Stacey (Shane) of Cornwall, Erica Clemente (Eric) of FL, Christopher Hansen of ME, Samantha Hansen (Nick) of Beacon, Calli Hansen-Anderson (Kris) of ME, Lt. Peter Loiacono of TX, Matthew Loiacono of GA, and Victoria Hansen (Justin) of Manhattan; and his 6 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his son: Kenneth Hansen. CHEN WEN LEE September 19, 1927 - November 21, 2023 Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY Dr. Chen Wen Lee of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY entered into eternal rest on November 21, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was 96 years old. As a pediatrician, Dr. Lee was dedicated to his patients and their families, beginning in Taipei, Taiwan and continuing at New York University and then in practice in Port Jarvis, NY. He was remembered with appreciation long after his retirement. After his retirement his biggest concern was that each of his grandchildren should live a "happy life". He will be missed greatly. Dr. Chen Wen Lee was preceded in death by his wife Cheng Wei in 2021. He is survived by his sons: Dr. William Lee of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY, James Lee of Gaithersburg, MD and Dr. David Lee of Upper Saddle River, NJ; and his 7 grandchildren. SUSAN BAXTER BRYDE January 4, 1942 - November 19, 2023 Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY Susan Baxter Bryde, daughter of the late Lynn and Isabel Baxter, passed away on November 19, 2023 at home surrounded by her husband, Carl and son Donald. Susan was born on January 4, 1942 in Watertown, NY. She moved to Saranac Lake, NY in 1945 and attended Saranac Lake High School where she graduated in 1960. She attended Mount Ida college and graduated in 1962. Susan worked in Potsdam in the summer of 1965 where she met her future husband, Carl W Bryde Jr. They married on October 9, 1965 and moved to Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. Susan worked in the Army Football Office at USMA, West Point. She was the secretary of the defensive coaching staff. She worked for great coaches like Bill Parcells. She was a Co-Director of the St. John's nursery school. She worked at the village nursery school as a teacher and also the Cornwall library. Susan was known as "Mrs. B" by her students. She loved to go camping with family and was looking forward to a new season. Susan is survived by her husband: Carl; sons: Donald and Jonathan and his wife Tracy; her grandchildren: Camdin, Caiden, Victoria and Caisyn; her sisters: Ann White and Carolyn Manhey; and several nieces and nephews. WILLIAM "BILL" E. HALL March 7, 1953 - November 18, 2023 Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY William "Bill" Hall was born on March 7th, 1953 in Manhattan to his parents William Joseph Hall & Catherine (Hart) Hall. He was raised in Brooklyn, lived in Queens and loved his 40 years in Cornwall-on-Hudson. On November 18, 2023 Bill entered into eternal rest in his home. He was predeceased by his parents, William & Catherine Hall and his brother Daniel Hall. Bill is survived by his son Willie Hall and his wife Kristine and their four children: Sarah, Joey, Taylor and Allison. They were his world and his joy. Bill is survived by his daughter Mary Hall of Colorado who he treasured and loved deeply. . . and lived vicariously through her photos & adventures. Bill is survived by his three sisters - Cathy, Maureen, Mary Hall - as well as wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was blessed with two step sons, Erik & Ed Poje. Erik and his wife Kim have a daughter Juliana. Ed and his wife Dawn have children Nora and Matthew. Bill's former wife, Alice Hall, will miss him dearly. Bill graduated Brooklyn College with a degree in fine arts. He was an artist first and foremost and completed a career as a Parole Officer for the NYS Division of Parole in NYC. Bill was a man of many talents and many loves. He loved flowers, plants and animals of all kinds especially dogs (Apple, Nelly, Gus, Blondie, Howard, Buddy, Phoebe, Luke, etc. ). Bill loved his home, his Village and his Hudson River. Bill loved St John, USVI which he visited there countless times and was a property owner for decades. Bill always chose to put others first, before his own needs, and knew how to make an occasion complete with his amazing cooking. He was a gentle person who valued tradition, faith in God and his community. He was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Newburgh. Most of all, he loved his children and grandchildren. Life will not be the same without him and he will live forever in all of our hearts. NITA JOY KLEIN March 12, 1937 - November 9, 2023 Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY Nita Joy Klein, of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY entered into eternal rest on November 9, 2023 at Taconic at Beacon Nursing & Rehabilitation in Beacon, NY. She was 86 years old. Nita was a prolific artist who found abundant inspiration in the natural beauty of the Hudson Highlands. Her original pastels, watercolors, and acrylic paintings have been exhibited in a wide range of venues both local and national. She resided in Cornwall-on-Hudson with her devoted husband, Larry, where she painted everyday looking out into a deer filled yard, offering seasonal variations such as November's lingering yellow leaves. Nita was born in Highland Falls, then moved to Peekskill, eventually leaving the area to attend the University of Vermont, where she met and fell in love with Larry. She relocated to New York City, where she attended Parsons School of Design, studying fashion design. "I must have driven my teacher crazy," she recalled, "sewing sleeves together when I was supposed to sew buttons on. " She quickly changed her focus to drawing, painting, and pastels. After graduation, she got a job in the art department of one of Manhattan's biggest advertising agencies, Young & Rubican. She had a two-hour lunch and during her breaks she painted and sold her work to the art directors. Within a couple of years, she had sold enough of her art at lunchtime to make it feasible not to work. She sold her work at Bloomingdales and had a commission for a hotel in Manhattan where every single room featured an original Nita Klein work. Today, her work hangs in homes, restaurants and establishments throughout the Hudson Valley. Nita and Larry were inseparable. They were fixtures at many local restaurants and Nita loved the Cornwall Public Library. When Nita had to go to the nursing home because of a fall, Larry visited each day, all day. When he then had a stroke, they shared a room at the facility until he passed away from Covid. Nita enjoyed being alone with Larry in their home, painting, soaking up the quiet and the view out her window. FORDRUNG August 9, 1933 - November 11, 2023 Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY Claire was born on August 9, 1933 as the first child of Fred and Louise Fordrung and grew up in Crestwood NY; she was privileged to attend the old and wonderful P. S. 15 from K-8th grade. Her education continued at St. Gabriel High School and the College of New Rochelle (Class of '55), and furthered her education at Dominican College and Lehman College in New York; St. Joseph's in Rensselaer, Indiana; Siena Heights in Adrian, Michigan. Using the gifts freely given to her by God, nourished within the Christian Community and deepened within the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, she gave her life in service to others, especially those whose lives were touched by cancer as hers was. She was blessed with the gift of love of music and of proclaiming God's Word. It gave her great joy to serve as lector at Mass and also to assist in training others called to this Ministry. She was blessed, also, with many faithful and loving friends who helped her walk life's journey and supported her by their prayers, especially Helen and Harry Tucker of Cocoa Beach, FL. On November 11, 2023, she entered into the fullness of life and healing after a long and difficult journey. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Noel. She is survived by her sister Jean M. Stellato of New Windsor, NY; nephew Mark (Virginia) Stellato of Valley Cottage, NY and their children Martin Stellato of Reston, VA; Austin Stellato of New Rochelle, NY; and Marissa Stellato of Valley Cottage, NY; niece Mary Clare (David) Eyler of Media, PA; and niece Nancy Esposito of Central Valley, NY. MARGARET M. SATTERLY June 24, 1925 - November 6, 2023 Cornwall, NY Margaret M. Satterly, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on November 6, 2023 at her home with her devoted daughter by her side. She was 98 years old. The daughter of the late James Michael McCarthy and Julia (Prause) McCarthy, Margaret was born on June 24, 1925 in Newburgh, NY. Margaret graduated from Cornwall schools as salutatorian of her high school class. After graduation from New Paltz college she started her teaching career in Newburgh schools. In 1960 she began teaching in Cornwall where she is remembered by many as their favorite kindergarten teacher. Margaret was an active member of Meals on Wheels, Hudson Valley Honor Flight, Fact and Fancy and the Horse Thieves Society. She volunteered with Hospice, taught Sunday School and served as advisor for the Cornwall cheerleaders. Margaret was an avid tennis player with the Cornwall School League and a member of the Tusculum Tennis Team and Swims team. At New Paltz, where she graduated Magna Cum Laud, she was a member of the Arethusa Sorority and Secretary of State Chapter of Arethusa Sorority, New Paltz Teachers Honor Society for Educators and NYS Honor Society for Educators as well as a Teaching Demonstrator for college teaching students and taught summer sessions as demonstration. She and her daughter Susan have hosted and sponsored many West Point Cadets who along with their families became lifelong friends. Margaret loved entertaining family and friends and was a great storyteller. Even at 98, she could remember details of her many friends and students and experiences growing up in Cornwall. Anyone who has met her has heard many of these stories. She will be missed greatly. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Charles S. Satterly. She is survived by her loving daughter: Susan Satterly at home; and by her granddaughter: Leslie Limoges and her many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. Curtis H. Kay, born in Cornwall, New York to Philip and Mary Ann Walls Kay passed away on November 7, 2023 from health complications. He was a loyal, trusting and genuine son, husband, father grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He leaves behind his wife and partner of 40 years, Corlie Tames Kay, a son Justin and wife Sasha, a daughter Ariana; members of his family include his mother Mary Ann Roberts, stepmother Diane Kay, brothers Raymond Kay, Antonio Lesavage, Ramon Lesavage, step-brother Robert Wilkens, sisters Barbara Richards and Linda Ketcham. He had many nieces, nephews, and cousins. All were loved deeply and returned that love. KEVIN M. HURLEY August 18, 1969 - November 8, 2023 Cornwall, NY Kevin M. Hurley, 54 of Cornwall, NY passed away on November 8, 2023 after a 14-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He died at home surrounded by the love of his family. Kevin was born on August 18, 1969 to John and Elizabeth Hurley in Bronx, NY. After graduation from Washingtonville High School, he went on to graduate from Manhattan College in 1991. After graduation, he started his first job at Fairchild Publishing in 1992 and continued for the next 31 years to move up in the field of magazine publishing with the likes of ABC, Disney, Conde Nast and at the time of his passing with Penske Media Corp (PMC) where he was the Senior Production Director. Kevin met his wife Liz at Manhattan College. Married for 26 years they resided in the Bronx for over 16 years before buying a home in Cornwall 18 years ago. Kevin and Liz have two incredible boys, Owen - 20 years old and Andrew -11 years old. The family also welcomed a very large fluffy Great Pyrenees, named Zoey almost two years ago. Kevin is survived by his sisters: Kerry Dineen (Patrick) and Deirdre Ennis; Father-in-law: Alfred Wassler (Patti); brothers-in-law: Kevin Wassler (Carrie), Tim Wassler (Dana); and sister-in-law: Emily Wassler. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Connor, Rory and Brogan Dineen, Meaghan and Mackenzie Ennis, Kaitlyn, Sarah and Jack Wassler, Reese Wassler; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Kevin will be remembered by his very large group of friends and co-workers, who provided unwavering support and strength during his courageous battle. He was predeceased by his parents: John and Elizabeth; his mother-in-law: Mary Wassler; and his brother-in-law: James Ennis. Thinking of all the things Kevin enjoyed doing is easy. He loved the outdoors: hiking, kayaking, geo-cashing and long walks with Zoey. He took great pride in landscaping his home and his ability to fix anything; cars, computers or things around the house. A lifelong Yankee fan, he shared that love with family and friends. He logged more hours than anybody watching Motor Trend channel and loved old cars. He told the best or worst Dad jokes depending on who you asked. Kevin was your man if you needed anything researched. He was always a phone call away if anyone needed anything, our personal phone a friend. We know that is how he would want to be remembered. Miguel Bejarano

MIGUEL BEJARANO August 9, 1946 - November 5, 2023 On November 5, 2023, after a long illness and a life full of great adventures, Miguel Bejarano passed away at the age of 77 in Cortlandt, NY. He was a long-time resident of Cornwall, NY. The son of the late Miguel Eugenio Bejarano and Celeste Edna (Fowler) Bejarano, Miguel was born on August 9, 1946 in Fort Bragg, NC. He grew up in Lynbrook, NY, with his parents and with King (a St. Bernard), and Freckles (a Dalmatian). He attended college in Florida before he was drafted in 1966 to serve in Vietnam. After discharge in 1968, Miguel worked as a photographer in New York City; he had studios on 19th Street near Union Square and on Broome Street, where Bozo and Vixen (black Irish setters), were the shop dogs. Ad campaigns, annual reports, and head shots paid the bills, but Miguel never went anywhere without a Nikon and at least three lenses and captured his friends and aspects of the city from a unique perspective. At one show of his work, a photographer buddy said with awe, "These are incredible. No one can print like Miguel," to a companion. In later years, Miguel formed Storm King Woodworks. The furniture, cabinetry, and other objects he created are treasured for their simple, clean lines that let the beauty of the wood's grain capture the eye. Miguel was a raconteur of the first degree. His stories were legendary, in no small part because he never let the facts get in the way of a good tale. He was known for his skewed sense of humor, his love of dancing, and for embodying Andrew Jackson's statement "it's a damn poor mind that can only think of one way to spell a word. " Before introducing himself to Martha, the love of his life, at a bar in 1988, he told a friend, "That's the girl I'm going to marry. " Martha eventually realized that no one had made her laugh as hard and in 1989 they tied the knot. Raymond, their son and the light of their lives, was born in 1993. Although Miguel was an only child and had little experience with babies or kids, he loved Raymond almost more than life itself. While Martha commuted into the city, Miguel, Raymond, and Charlie (a standard poodle) had countless adventures, tailgate parties, and rocket-building and -launching escapades. Miguel was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved Charlie. He is survived by his wife, Martha Schueneman, of Cornwall, NY, and his son Raymond, of Gaithersburg, MD. They would like to thank the staff at the New York State Veterans Home in Montrose for the seven years of superlative care and kindness they showed Miguel. DOROTHY HAZEL NEVLING January 19, 1936 - October 27, 2023 Highland Falls, NY Dorothy Hazel Nevling of Highland Falls, NY passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the age of 87. Known to those who loved her as "Mom," "Nanny", "Grandma Mazie", "Dottie", "Mazie" and "Aunt Dot", her faith, sense of humor and fiercely independent spirit carried her through life's ups and downs with a sassy smirk on her face. Born January 19, 1936 in Warren, Rhode Island, she was preceded in death by her parents: Mary Tavares and Ira B. Nevling; her first husband: Louis Nicoletti; second husband: Norman Robert "Bobby" Tompkins; sister: Sandra Markham; brother: Arthur "Artie" Nevling Sr. ; niece: Geraldine Nevling; and nephew: Arthur "Artie" Nevling Jr. She was also predeceased by her loving kitty, Tinkerbell, whom she, wholeheartedly, adored and cherished. In addition to raising her family fulltime, Dorothy worked part time as a Banquet Hostess for Scivoletto Catering in Peekskill, NY and for the Cortland Colonial Restaurant and Ballroom in Cortlandt, NY. She was a past member of the women's auxiliary for the Fort Montgomery NY, Cortlandt NY, and Buchanan NY Fire Departments. Dorothy was an avid New York Yankees fan. She thoroughly enjoyed her many Christian retreats with De Colores in Ossining, NY. She loved to garden and took great pleasure in her many beautiful house plants.
