Harold R. Brown, age 92, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023, surrounded by his family at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He was born on August 9, 1931, in Fredericktown, Ohio, to the late Elliott and Mystle (Clawson) Brown. Harold graduated from Fredericktown High School in the class of 1949, before joining the United States Army and serving his country proudly during the Korean Conflict. He was a carpenter by trade, but Harold loved his memories of working on the farm. In his retirement he enjoyed woodworking, giving his projects to family, friends and his community. Most of all he loved being around his family and friends. Those that knew him loved him. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Brown; children, Steven (Alverta) Brown, Stanley Brown, Susan (Tim) Birie, Sheila (Steve) Zieg, Sandra Overholt; step-children, Mark (Theresa) Wilcox, Kathleen (Doug) Stewart; grandchildren, Christopher (Marianne) Birie, Elizabeth Birie, Matthew (Paula) Zieg, Jennifer Marcucci, Shannon (Mike) Donelson, Nathan (Dia) Overholt, Brendan (Sarah) Brown, Anya Brown; step-grandchildren, Erin (Malcom) Stokes, Joshua (Larissa) Stewart, Stephanie (Tony) Fickeisen; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Jones and Marie Grob. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 5-7 PM at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown; 33 E. College Street, Fredericktown, Ohio, 43019. A private graveside will take place at a later date. The Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Harold R. Brown.

Patricia H. Brown, age 76, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She was born on April 14, 1947, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to the late Jack and Dorothy (Barker) Harmon. Patty graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1965 and attended Ohio State University. She was an avid Ohio State fan and loved watching sporting events. Patty lived in Alaska, Ohio, and New York among other places and enjoyed going to the beach in Florida for vacations. Patty worked in the banking industry for several years before moving back to Mount Vernon to be closer to family. When Patty moved back to Mount Vernon, she worked at AMG Industries until she retired. She enjoyed traveling, quilting and bird watching, but most of all she loved being around family and friends. She is survived by her brothers, Jack (Pam) Harmon, David (Jan) Harmon; sister, Terri (Art) Mitchell; nieces, Niki (Brad) Snyder, Jennifer Harmon, Holly (Stacy) Evans, Melissa Harmon, Amber (Andrew) Hill; nephews, Todd (Barb) Harmon, Chad Harmon, Mike Harmon and Phillip Hill; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and Godchildren she loved very much. Along with her parents, Patty is preceded in death by her brother, Rick Harmon, and half sister, Dixie Corcoran Hill. She will be missed dearly, and the world will not be the same without her in it. Sandra L. Hatton, age 81, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Knox Community Hospital. She was born on September 12, 1942, in Utica, Ohio, the daughter of Eugene and Ruth (Williams) Dunlap. Sandra was a 1960 graduate of Utica High School and retired in 2007 after 30 years of employment as a truancy office with the Mount Vernon City Schools. She was a former member of Women of the Moose and enjoyed reading and watching television. Sandra is survived by her husband Larry Hatton, whom she married on April 2, 1960, two children, Candice (David) Gallagher of Fredericktown and Christopher (Patti) Hatton of Houston, Texas, four grandchildren, Mark (Beth) Gallagher, Jonathan (Samantha) Gallagher, Joseph (Karen) Hatton and Sarah (Jared) Smith, four great grandchildren, Ellie Jo Hatton, Barrett Hatton, June Hatton, Abner Smith, and a sister, Karen (Richard) Warner of Utica. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Dunlap. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, beginning at 1 p. m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. William (Bill) Henry Hickerson, 95, of Springfield, Ohio, died at home on Friday, November 3, 2023. He was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio in 1928 to Everett and Grace (Hoover) Hickerson, who raised their children on the outskirts of town on a farm. The Hickerson family were active members of the Church of Christ. William attended Mount Vernon High School before going to work at Pittsburgh Plate Glass and serving in the National Guard. He worked for PPG for 31 years before finishing his career as an electrician at American National Can. William met the love of his life, Christiene (Garner) in 1950 at a church fellowship after church services on Sunday. Their dates most often consisted of attending church service on Sunday and spending the day together. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married June 1, 1952, in Marion, Ohio. William will always be remembered for his faithful service to the Lord and the Lord's church, and the way that he loved his family. We, his children, will always remember seeing him studying the Bible in the early mornings and tucking us into bed while asking us Bible questions. We couldn't have asked for a better example of a faithful Christian father, and we will miss his presence every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him. William was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Hickerson and Grace Fern (Hoover) Hickerson, his wife of 61 years Christiene (Garner) Hickerson, his sisters, Ruth Patterson, Lillian Smith, June Hickerson, Mildred Mansell, his brother Ted Hickerson, and his daughter Deborah Suggs. William is survived by his children Peggy Hickerson, Timothy (Donna) Hickerson, Terry Hickerson and son-in-law Larry Suggs as well as six grandchildren Christopher (Stacey)Suggs, Kara (Suggs) Miller, Matt Hickerson, Clay (Shannon) Hickerson, Rachel (J. D. ) Sandoval, and Hannah (Dallas) Durham. He is survived by sister-in-law Marjean (Hickerson) Larcomb, sister-in-law Wilma (Garner) Phillips, brother-in-law Dick (Jan) Garner, sister-in-law Jeanne (Dray) Garner, brother-in-law Don (Pamela) Garner and many nieces and nephews. William also is survived by thirteen (and soon to be fourteen) great-grandchildren Aubree Suggs, Mia Suggs, Brynn Miller, Derek Miller, Gavin Miller, Ryder Miller, Elliott Hickerson, Harper Hickerson, Elijah Sandoval, Ivy Sandoval, Auburn Sandoval, Grace Durham, Colt Durham, Laura Durham and Baby Boy Durham. A Memorial service will be held on November 18, 2023, at the Mount Vernon Church of Christ, 1200 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio at 1:00 p. m. James Ross Deboard, age 85, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on March 26, 1938, in Delaware, Ohio, the son of Henry Marvin and Mary (Calvert) Deboard. James was a 1956 graduate of Amity High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962. James retired from TRW of Mount Vernon. He was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge, Fraternal order of Elks #140, the Eagles, and was a life-long member of Amvets Post #95. James was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed spending time with his family as he always cherished the family gatherings and following his boys in their activities over the years. He is survived by his two sons, James Deboard of Mount Vernon, and John (Eddie) Deboard of Columbus, a brother, Jerry Deboard of Mount Vernon, a sister, Joanne Deboard of Mount Vernon and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Jennifer "Jenny" Deboard, a sister, Janice Moreland and a brother, Jack Deboard. She was born in Nashua, NewHampshire on 13 Nov 1935 to Peter and Albina Jean. Claire is survived by three children, Scott (Kay) Boutin of Las Vegas, NV; Thomas(Theresa) Boutin of Leonardtown, MD; and Peter (Deb) Boutin of Mt Vernon, OH. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Lauren McGuire; Christopher McGuire;Lindsey McGuire; Brian Boutin, Chelsea Boutin; Tom Boutin Jr; Matthew (Megan)Boutin; Margaux Boutin; and great grandsons Liam Boutin and Bodie Boutin. Claire is welcomed into heaven by her husband Maurice Boutin; daughter Anne(Boutin) McGuire; parents Peter and Albina Jean; sister Rita (Jean) Simoneau;brother-in-law Noel Simoneau; sister-in-law Theresa Kiernan; brother-in-lawRichard Kiernan Sr; parents-in-law Albert and Irma Boutin; and daughter-in-lawCathy Boutin. John B. Jenkins Jr, age 85, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Grafton, West Virginia to the late John B. and Mildred (Moats) Jenkins Sr. John graduated from high school in Grafton West Virginia and earned a master's degree in counseling from Ohio University. He was a guidance counselor for many years, most recently in East Knox School District. He also was an Author and wrote the book " The Adventures of Bocho". John loved sports and was a respected Shot Put and Discus thrower in high school and college where he held many records. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Ohio, for over 30 years. John loved woodworking and sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, but most of all he loved being around his family. He is survived by his loving wife of over 63 years, Sally (Brooks) Jenkins; children, Scott (Lisa Shaw) Jenkins, Jamie Jenkins; grandchildren, Tanner, Tyler, Ally, Isabel, Olivia, Hallee, Annaliese and Kaitlyn; 2 great-grandchildren, Genevieve and Kayden; sisters, Dolores Baker and Sheryl Isner; a sister-in-law, Sebie Jenkins; numerous nieces and nephews. John P. Jurkowitz, age 79, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on August 29, 1944, in Middletown, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Mary Bartolic Jurkowitz. John worked many years as the Superintendent of Danville Schools and most previously served as the gifted coordinator at the Mount Vernon High School. He was also active with the Knox County Education Service Center and was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, walking, and spending time with his canine companions. John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ann (Ware) Jurkowitz, a daughter, Julie (Brian) Ramsay of Fort Myers, Florida, a grandson, Jackson Rine, a brother, Daniel (Ronnie) Jurkowitz of Cincinnati, and a sister, Mary Jo Smutny of Chicago. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Paul Jurkowitz.
