Sharlett Gaynor McClara, passed away suddenly on February 28, 2024, at Cape Coral Hospital, Florida. She was born on January 26, 1938, in Coeburn, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents Ted Powers and Ruth Cornett. She is survived by her husband James Edward McClara for 22 years; children Gail C. Myers, Karen D. Keeney, Barry R. Keeney, Gary W. Keeney and Allen L. Hilton Jr.; stepson’s David McClara and Jimmy McClara. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She loved praising the Lord and singing in the choir in her earlier years. She also liked playing bingo with her friends, walking on the beach, and collecting shells. She will be cremated and brought to rest in Pennsylvania with her children. There will be a celebration of life at Faith Assembly of God Church, 6950 Bayshore Road, North Fort Myers, Florida on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 2:00 PM

"Pauline Moody departed her loving family on Saturday, February 17, 2024 in her own home in Cape Coral, Florida at the age of 91. Pauline was born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 29, 1933 to Earl Smith \u0026amp; Julia Palinchak-Gogatz. Pauline graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1951. Pauline was mother to Robin (Wayne) Caraway, Leslie (Kevin) McLain, Meghan (Gary) Willoughby. She raised her children with love and devotion in North Tonawanda, NY with her husband Robert L. Moody (deceased.) Pauline served as a Teacher’s Aide at Gulf Middle School with special needs children and helped in the library. Her hobbies included painting, gardening, sewing, and researching her family history. She was most proud of her volunteering with animal causes, coaching her church basketball team, delivering Meals on Wheels, and serving as a Girl Scout Troop leader for 10 years. She is survived by her three children, her granddaughter Brittanie Butler, and her step-grandsons Chris and Matthew McLain. A Memorial Service for Pauline will be celebrated by Pastor Graham A. Stein at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 1, 2024 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Guests are welcome to gather for a half-hour in advance of this service beginning at 10:30 AM also inside the funeral home chapel. Pauline will thereafter be laid to rest at a private ceremony alongside her dearly departed husband Robert at the Veteran\u0027s Wall of Honor inside the Chapel of Memories located on the grounds of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Byron J. Pateras, 83, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away after a brief illness on Monday, February 28, 2024 at Cape Coral Hospital. He was born September 25, 1940 in Athens, Greece to John and Despina (nee Papandreou) Pateras. Byron graduated from Engineering school in Athens, Greece. He served in the Greek Army, the maritime shipping and cruise ship industry, as a building engineer in the United States, and finished his career working for the U.S Department of State overseas in South America and Asia. He enjoyed the water, travel, and Disney World. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice Pateras, his sister Vera Stathes, his son Byron C. (Chris) Pateras; his daughter Susan N. Pateras; his grandchildren Sophia, Nicholas, and Alexandra Pateras, and Riley Mayberry. The family will have a private viewing with interment at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Maryland with a memorial service at Fort Lincoln cemetery at a later date. A heartfelt thank you to all the amazing ICU doctors, nurses and technicians Byron encountered in the ICU at Cape Coral hospital. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to St Peter The Apostle Orthodox Church, 7470 Hickory Drive, Fort Myers , Florida, 33967 in Byron’s memory. May the servant of God, Byron rest in peace and rise to glory. May his memory be eternal.

On February 14, 2024, a retired proud Air Force veteran, Master Sergeant James (Jim) Edwin Lora, loving husband, father, and brother passed away peacefully in Cape Coral, Florida. Jim was born in McComb, Ohio on May 22nd, 1943, to parents Robert Eugene and Loretta (Rigel) Lora. Jim grew up in Ohio and enlisted in the Air Force when he was 19. Jim graduated from McComb HS in Ohio in 1961. He served his country for 22 years and was stationed all over the world, including Japan and Holland. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Mable Lora. Survivors include two children from a previous marriage to Sharon (Bott) Lora, James Edwin Lora Jr of Ft. Myers, FL & Darlene Eades (Husband John Eades) of Buford, GA, four grandchildren Joshua Lora, Kari-lyn LeDrew (Husband Christopher LeDrew), Victoria Richardson (Husband Kincaid Richardson) and Ashley Eades, and four great-grandchildren who filled his heart with joy Aiden, Mackenzie, Isabella and Karina. He had 5 stepchildren, 5 step grandchildren, and 4 step great-grandchildren. Jim loved spending time with his nephew William Smith (wife Regina Smith) and loved Regina’s cooking. Jim traveled across the United States in his RV, played golf, and enjoyed family time in Florida. He loved his motorcycles and other off-road toys along the way. If you knew Jim, you would know how stubborn and hard-headed he was, but he had his soft spots as well. His granddaughter Kari-lyn spent the last two years making sure he had the best memories. Norman Robert Kurtycz, 85, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2011, formerly of Detroit, MI, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024 in Cape Coral, FL. He was born April 17, 1938 in Detroit, MI to Theodore and Katherine Kurtycz, now deceased. Norman was of the Baptist faith. He was born and raised on the West Side of Detroit, the youngest of nine children. He had a strong academic career, being the 1956 class Salutatorian at Chadsey High School in Detroit, Michigan. After winning a national academic contest (which paid for his post secondary schooling) he attended Wayne State University. He graduated from Wayne State first in his class in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He began his professional career working for Dupont Chemical Company in Delaware, but soon thereafter returning to Detroit and joining The Ford Motor Company until his retirement in 1999. Norman and Cathy were married in 1963 and had more than 60 years together. Most importantly, he was a wonderful husband, father, granddad and great-granddad. He had many nieces and nephews and was fortunate to see many of them for his and Catherine’s 60th wedding anniversary, which he really enjoyed. Norman also liked to take his family on vacations. They were able to attend the inaugural year of Walt Disney World in 1972. They were also fortunate to travel to the United Kingdom to visit Catherine’s relatives. Almost every Friday evening, he would gather the family for the weekly visit to Grandma Kurtycz’s where many great memories were created. He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Kurtycz; his children, Lorraine Barraco (Nick) of Cape Coral, FL, Steven Kurtycz (Michelle) of Shelby Township, MI, and Eric Kurtycz of Shelby Township, MI; eight grandchildren; as well as five great-grandchildren.
