"\u0026#65279;Hailey Katlyn Cavin, 28, passed away on Thursday Aug 17, 2023, unexpectedly in her home located in Falls Church, Virginia. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Wendy and Tony DiCola, and father and stepmother, Jason and Jennifer Cavin. She had very close bonds with her siblings, Nico and Gianna Dicola and her stepbrother, Elijah Layton, who adored their big sister. She is also survived by her many close relatives who include - Tom and Jackie Musselman, her maternal grandparents, Jim and Judy Cavin, her paternal grandparents, and Nancy and Jay McFarland, her grandparents in kind. In addition, her aunts and uncles Debby and Bruce Smith, Sheri and Scott Sheaffer, Mark and Karen Musselman, Heather Tullis and Jerah DiCola. . . as well as many cousins - Shane, Wyatt and Jessie Smith, Nykki Stapleton, Scottie and Casey Sheaffer, Paige Musselman, Regan and Patrick Tullis, and Jerah DiCola, Jr. , will all miss her dearly. Her infectious smile, laughter, and light beamed on everyone she knew. She had a strong dedication to animal rescue and animal rehabilitation, and worked as a manager at Last Chance Animal Rescue in Waldorf, Maryland, for many years. Her giving nature, vibrant spirit and kind heart will be eternally missed by everyone she knew. Her family will be welcoming all who share in their love of Hailey this Sunday, August 27th, 2-5pm, for a Celebration of Life Open House. In keeping form to Hailey's free spirit, we are keeping this a casual event. We encourage everyone to wear Dallas Cowboy\u0027s colors in honor of Hailey (blue, white, silver). Thelma Rosenberg, 94, of McLean, Virginia, died November 30, 2023, at Sunrise of McLean. Thelma was born and raised in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, where she and beloved husband Norman were married in 1950. Their careers took them to Castleton-on-Hudson, NY; Broomall, PA; Silver Spring, MD; Reston, VA; and McLean, VA. Together, Thelma and Norman owned the first franchise of Dunhill Professional Search for executive, sales, engineering and administrative placement in Washington, DC, in 1966. Thelma later opened her own branch office in McLean, one of eight branches, to great success. She and Norman were the original owners of their condominium at the Rotonda when it opened in 1978. Blessed with a long life, Thelma had many cherished friends and hobbies, including the McLean Newcomers Club, serving on the Board of Directors and many committees for her condominium, as well as hosting many lively groups for mahjong and card games. She took great pleasure in teaching others and was quite a skilled player herself. She had a curious mind and loved learning, reading, and listening to music. She and Norman traveled the world over and never met a stranger. Thelma was predeceased by husband Norman, infant son Jonathan, brother Manny Reich, and parents Rose and Morris Reich. She is survived by daughter Vicki Rosenberg, Bethesda, MD; son David and wife Doris, Harrisonburg, VA; and daughter Marta Wiseman, Frederick, MD. She was affectionately Bubba to grandchildren Aaron Rosenberg and wife Kimberly Vu, Fairfax Station, VA; Tyler Rosenberg, Arlington, VA; Kimberly Rosenberg, Manassas, VA; Brandon Wiseman, Westchester, NY; and great grandchildren Ava and Aiden Rosenberg, Fairfax Station, VA. Services will be Monday, December 4, at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA, beginning at 11:30 AM, followed by burial at King David Memorial Gardens and Celebration of Life at National Funeral Home. Our beautiful mother, Nelina Ladia, was received into Heaven by our Almighty Father on the morning of November 22, 2023. She was welcomed there by her husband Diosdado, her son Danny, her beloved parents, and some of her siblings. Nelina was just 90 years of age. Nelina was born in Bataan, Philippines, in 1933. She was 1 of 7 children. She is survived by 2 siblings: brother Crisanto and sister Rizalina. Nelina met and married her beloved husband Diosdado in 1960, and they raised 4 children - 3 sons Tony, Danny, and Darius, and 1 daughter Dinah. Diosdado was taken from them in 2017, and they lost Danny earlier this year. Nelina also is survived by 6 grandchildren - Katherine, Shawn, Jared, Shelby, Elyse, and Remi - and 6 great-grandchildren - Anna, Aubrey, Emme, Madilyn, Ronnie, and Owen. Nelina was a devout Catholic, and she raised her children accordingly. She was a devoted wife and mother, and a dedicated member of the Filipino community. She also was the BEST COOK EVER! She retired as a librarian from Norfolk Southern but then went on to volunteer with the local VITA office for several years. Nelina was taken suddenly and unexpectedly from this world, but she was surrounded by her children during her final moments. Nelina will be laid to rest beside her husband on December 1, 2023, in National Memorial Park, which is located on Lee Highway in Falls Church, VA. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM ET and be followed by a short, non-denominational service at 11 AM ET. Interment will take place promptly at 12 PM ET.Show more

Dr. William David Dwyer (Bill), of Falls Church, Virginia, passed away on November 22, 2023. Bill was born in Trenton, New Jersey on April 15, 1939 to John and Helen Dwyer and was raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey, with three brothers and a sister. Bill studied at the University of Pennsylvania where he was a letterman goalie for the university soccer team. An ROTC member at Penn, he then served four years in the United States Navy. While stationed in Virginia Beach, he met the love of his life, Elizabeth, whom he married in 1966. Bill returned to Penn to complete dental school and the couple moved their growing family back to Virginia Beach. He practiced dentistry in the Kempsville area of Virgina Beach for more than thirty years. He was past president of the Tidewater Dental Study Club, member of the Norfolk Sports Club and attended Holy Family Catholic Church. After retiring he and Liz moved first to Delray Beach, Florida, then more recently to Northern Virginia, where Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren's soccer games. He will be fondly remembered for many things, including his encyclopedic knowledge of sports mascots, coaches, and players; many turns of phrases that still bring wry smiles to the family and his sincere pleasure for the successes of his children and grandchildren. Bill is survived by his wife Liz, their children Bill Jr. , Susan, and Robin and grandchildren Alec, Zach, Sophie, Will, Sean, Ewan and Rhys, and his brother Bob. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jack and Jim and his sister Bunny. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Falls Church with interment at Quantico National Cemetery.Show more

Crystal was born and raised in Manila, Philippines to Leo Quinte Francisco and Hermita Ramirez Francisco. After finishing high school, she got her first job at Greenwich Pizza while going to college, but later started a band with some friends and became their lead singer. They ended up getting a long-running gig playing at the Mustang Club on Osan Air Base, South Korea, where she caught the eye of an Air Force 2nd Lieutenant who fell madly in love with her. Their whirlwind romance lasted five months before they got married before the justice of the peace in Seoul, South Korea, and later moved on to his next assignment in Hawaii. There she continued her college, and followed then-Captain Syphrit to their home in Alexandria, Virginia. She was able to complete her Associate of Science in Information Technology in December 2008, graduating magna cum laude and as a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She continued with her studies at George Mason University until one of the happiest moments of her life, the birth of her daughter Catherine in early 2011, followed by the birth of her son John in early 2013. Taking time to be a full-time mom to two young children, she waited until Catherine was in kindergarten and John was in preschool to begin teaching preschool at Mount Vernon Weekday School, where she stood up a new program for the youngest age group (24 months and older). After COVID, Crystal worked for Fort Belvoir's Child Youth Services for a year before finding the job where she was truly happy: Bush Hill Elementary working with Special Needs children. Crystal was an outstanding mother, wife, friend, daughter, and sister, and she did her best to support everyone around her. Crystal was the most thoughtful, kind, and selfless person. She will be missed for her beautiful smile, her wit, her intelligence, her amazing singing voice, her graceful dancing, her tasty cooking, and the cute way she snorted when she laughed.
