Funeral service for Mr. Guy Lyndon Shew 80, of Jacksonville, will be held at 3:00 p. m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel with Rev. David Bryant and Miss Taylor Griffin officiating the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p. m. until 3:00 p. m. Burial will follow the service in Mt. View Cemetery. Mr. Shew entered his Heavenly home on Saturday, June 18, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, R. C. and Vera Shew. Left to cherish the memory of Mr. Shew are his wife of 64 years, Julia Ann Shew; his daughter, Kerri Griffin (Rob), his son, Guy Lyndon Shew Jr. (Tracy), his grandchildren Garrett Shew, Zachary Weible, Taylor Griffin, Gavin Griffin, brother, Richard Shew (Martha), sister, Judy Bowden; and special friend and sister-in-law, Judith Thornton, and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Aubrey Thornton, Rob Griffin, Lynn Shew, Jerry Thornton, Clint Shew, Cory Shew, Jimmy Thornton and Steve Burnett. Mr. Shew was a follower of Christ and a true Christian example. He worked at Reads Lumber Company, Union Foundry in Anniston, and retired from Goodyear after 32 years. Mr. Shew was a member of Websters Chapel United Methodist Church and also was a founding member of Websters Chapel Fire Department. Mr. Shew served as a trustee for Mt. View Cemetery. Mr. Shew's hobbies and activities included basket weaving, gardening, NASCAR, hunting, and fishing. His favorite activity was watching his grandchildren play sports. To know Mr. Shew was to love him and he will be greatly missed. The family would like to give a special thank you to Amedysis Hospice.
