"Elinor R. McManus, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep December 2, 2023 in Jupiter, Florida with family at her side. Elinor was sustained throughout her life by an unfaltering devotion to her family and her faith, and her family was devoted to her in return. She was a kind, caring wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She always had a smile, a kind word and a great sense of humor, a competitive sporting spirit, and great optimism. She encouraged everyone to do the best they could. She was born in North Plainfield, New Jersey on May 29, 1930 to Carl and Eleanor Teschemacher and grew up in Westfield, New Jersey. She attended Mount Saint Mary Academy for high school and received her BA from Rosemont College in Pennsylvania. Upon graduation, she taught the fifth grade and instilled in her own children a love of learning, and a mother's encouragement to do their homework. She is survived by six children, Ed, of Austin, Texas, Eleanor (Gary) Moffat, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary McManus Wolf, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Carl, of Merritt Island, Florida, John (Suzanne), of Barton Creek, Texas, and Matthew, of Alexandria, Virginia, eleven grandchildren, Gary, Stephen, Ned, Meghan, Carl Edwin, Kalie, Jack, Conor, Maryclaire, Michael and Madelyn, seven great grandchildren, Theo, Tripp, Clark, Isabel, Lily, Alex, Mac, and her brother Carl Teschemacher of Morristown, New Jersey. She is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Edwin C. McManus, her grandson Tommy Wolf and her brother Frederick Teschemacher. With her husband, she raised her six children in La Jolla, California, Short Hills, New Jersey and Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania. In 1984, they retired to Jonathan's Landing in Jupiter and were blessed by a wonderful circle of close relatives and great friends. She joined with them at joyous annual Christmas gatherings that included many generations. With her husband she was an avid traveler, boater, golfer and bridge player. She had a hole-in-one, won the Captain's Cup at Jonathan's Landing, and led the Sunbirds league for many years. She shared the love of golf and competition with her children and grandchildren, hosting annual family golf and tennis tournaments. She and her husband were active at Valley Brook CC in Pennsylvania, where she also coached the Junior Golf team. She attended her children's basketball, soccer, swim meets and tennis tournaments. She volunteered as a CCD religious education teacher, at the Jupiter Hospital Auxiliary and was active in sewing groups. Visitation will be held December 13 from 5 to 7 p. m. at Taylor \u0026amp; Modeen Funeral Home in Jupiter, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on December 14 at 10 a. m. at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 204 N U. S. Highway 1, Tequesta, FL. Elinor will be laid to rest alongside her husband Edwin at South Florida VA National Cemetery in Lake, Worth, FL.
