Guadalupe G. Gutierrez Jr. , age 71, of San Antonio, Texas passed away October 3rd, 2023. He was born on June 29th, 1952 to Guadalupe Gutierrez and Angelita Gutierrez in Sinton, Texas. He was very proud of his athletic accomplishments at Mary Carroll High School. He participated in football and track. He was all district quarterback in 1970. He still holds Top 10 Records for passing and running yards. He also played football at Cisco Jr. College and McMurray University. He graduated from McMurray University with a BS in Education/Health and Mathematics. He also graduated from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi with a Master of Science in Education and Administration. He taught and coached in Corpus Christi ISD, as well as San Antonio ISD, serving communities for over 35 years. He and his wife enjoyed dancing, gardening, visiting wineries, watching Oscar nominated movies, watching the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros, hosting Super Bowl parties, traveling and going to Broadway plays. He also had a passion for golf and loved playing with his lifetime friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe Gutierrez and Angelita Gutierrez. Guadalupe leaves behind loving memories to his wife Josephine Yvette Pena Gutierrez; daughters, Lori Denise Gutierrez, (Ida Pacheco), Lyndi DeVon Gutierrez (Michael Fuentes); grandchildren, Jordan Michael Fuentes, Madison Fuentes, Joshua Matthew Chapa, Victoria Katherine Chapa; sister Lucinda Miller; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

"David Lee Uhl went to be with the Lord on November 29,2023 in Adkins, Texas. He was born August 24, 1930, in San Antonio Texas to his parents Gilford and Urcie (LaRo) Uhl He learned to drive a tractor at a very young age and helped his father in the fields. He was in the first graduating class at La Vernia high school and graduated at the age of 16 . He went into the Army . He worked for SAWS for 35 years. He would go to work all day and then come home and work in the fields or ride his horses. He was a very kind and gentle man. If there was a get together he would be there. He would be the first one to help anyone in need. He had a love for horses like no other. He loved to go on trail rides , show horses and raced them. . He loved traveling in the mountains or really anywhere anyone wanted to go. You would frequently find him at the casino. He never met a stranger. A beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend , his passing has left a void in the hearts of those that were blessed enough to have him in their lives. The legacy and memories he created over 93 years of life will live on through his family and friends. David is survived by his children : Linda Mcfarland , and husband David , David Uhl Jr , and his wife Keara , and Charlene Uhl . Maynette L. Anderson peacefully passed away the afternoon of November 29, 2023, at the age of 87 in the Haven Oaks Assisted Living in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on September 9, 1936 to Henry Humphries and Nora Armstrong Humphries in Oakville, Texas. She was the middle child with an older sister and younger brother. Growing up, Maynette's dream was to always be a wife and mother. She achieved that dream at 17 years old when she married Sonny Hahn. They were blessed with 5 children which they loved and raised to be successful, compassionate, loving adults who have become parents and grandparents. Maynette was a devoted mother and was a homemaker until 1977 when she entered the workforce being employed at the Mockingbird Motel and Greyhound Bus Station. She always enjoyed talking to people whether they were friends or strangers especially if they had a baby or small children. All ages were drawn to her warm, loving smile. Her longest employment started in 1981 at Karnes Land Title Company where she liked the challenge of researching titles and documents. In her free time, Maynette also worked at Wal-Mart part-time and was an expert seamstress who could sew just about anything from barbie doll clothes to baby blankets to formal gowns. She worked here until she met and then married Bill Anderson on March 3, 2001. Maynette and Bill enjoyed a full life of family, retirement, community service, and church membership until Bill's death in 2008. Maynette never waivered in her love for her Lord and children especially her own family including her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and all their families. Her greatest pride and joy came from being a caretaker of others. Maynette is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Anderson, her parents, Charles Henry and Nora Armstrong Humphries as well as her sister, Geraldyne Edna Spencer and her brother, Charles Preston "Punch" Humphries. Maynette is survived by her children, Teresa (Bill) Hyde of Amarillo, TX; Ronny (Debra) Hahn of Kenedy, TX; Jeff (Rhonda) Hahn of Rockport, TX; Kenny (Shari) Hahn of Boerne, TX; Suzy (Joel) Ponton, of San Antonio, TX; twelve grandchildren: James (Tara) Hyde, Julie (Jason) Smith, Austen Hahn, Tabitha (Garrett) Schulz, Clifford (Nicole) Dial, Shannon (Dusty) Burks, Katie (Justin) Ripple, Matthew (Alyce) Hahn, Robert Ruybal, Levi Rogers, Brian Hartman, and Savannah Hartman. Maynette also boasted of 6 great grandchildren along with nieces and nephews; and their spouses. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 5PM to 7PM in the Eckols Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 4, 2023 at 10AM in the Eckols Chapel with Rev. Wally Schievebein and Paster Walter Hill, III officiating. Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery in Kenedy, TX. Demosthenes C. Bitsis, age 89, San Antonio, Texas, passed away on November 27, 2023. D. C. was born on February 14, 1934 to Christ and Geneva Carellas Bitsis in Nowata, Oklahoma. D. C. graduated from Jefferson High School in San Antonio, Texas in 1953. Upon completion of high school, he served in the United States Army. Once D. C. had completed his military service, he married the love of his life, Mary Margaret Fendley. They had two children - Diana Kay Bitsis and Daniel Christopher Bitsis. D. C. obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from St. Mary’s University in 1960 and earned a Master of Education Degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1976. He spent his career as a public-school teacher. He loved teaching and was always the first person on campus each morning. In 1993, D. C. retired from teaching but missed being with students. He returned to campus tutoring students in the mornings for 13 years. He continued to be the first staff member at school into his seventies! After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Mary Margaret Fendley Bitsis, his parents Christ and Geneva Bitsis, his brothers Nickolaos and Socrates Bitsis, and his sister Sparta Bitsis Nigrelli. Demosthenes is survived by his two children, Diana (husband Rodney), Daniel Bitsis (wife Diane), his grandchildren – Craig Gagne (wife Audrey), Christine Espinoza (husband Michael), Stefanie McCarty (Husband Matt), Daniel Christopher Bitsis Jr. (wife Kristin), Thomas Bitsis (wife Cristen), and Johnathan Bitsis. He is survived by eight great-grandchildren – Ruth Gagne, Luke Gagne, Nora Gagne, Evelyn Bitsis, Margaret Bitsis, Olivia Bitsis, Emma Espinoza, and Cameron Espinoza. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a charitable donation to the St. Vincent De Paul Society at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Seton Home of San Antonio, or St. Jude’s Children Hospital. A Visitation will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. Hector Hugo Vasquez was a loving father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, friend and pastor. He was born on February 27, 1943 and passed away on November 26, 2023 at home surrounded by his wife and children. Hector's passion was his family and serving the Lord. He loved gardening, cooking, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Hector dedicated his entire life to serving others, as this was his calling. He was a Pastor to various Lutheran missions and congregations across Guatemala and Panama during the earlier part of his career. Hector also served as the Director of a Lutheran boarding school in Zacapa, Guatemala where he helped, nurtured, taught and preached hundreds of youth that had been displaced from their families. In Texas, Hector dedicated 25 years of his calling as a Lutheran Pastor with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) by opening Hispanic ministries in Corpus Christi, TX, Laredo, TX, El Cenizo, TX, Piedras Negras, MX and in Eagle Pass, TX where he retired at the age of 67. God blessed Hector's faithful work with every place he went. He committed himself to a gospel of good news and in serving the poor and impoverished. Hector leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Mirtha Vasquez, his four children, Hector H. Vasquez, Karen J. Vasquez, Cristian E. Vasquez and Cindy A. Alvarado. He leaves four grandchildren, Alex Vasquez, Amy Vasquez, Sofia Alvarado and Rudy Alvarado, Jr. , his daughters-in-law, Araceli Vasquez, Regina Vasquez and sons-in-law, Rudy Alvarado, and Antonio Hugo Calderon. Hector also leaves his beloved and trusted companion, his family dog, Bluey. Ervey Flores Alvizo went to be with the Lord on November 23, 2023 in the comfort of his home in San Antonio, Texas. He was surrounded by his beautiful family and so much love. He was born on January 07, 1944 in Mexico to Antonio Flores Munoz and Maria De Los Angeles Alvizo Flores. He is survived by his children: San Juanita Flores and partner Steve, Nancy Flores and husband Ariel, Erubey Flores and wife Aracely. Juan Flores and wife Maria Cristina, Maria De Los Angeles Flores and husband Vicente, Nelson Diaz and Wife Soraida. As well as many other loving family and friends. Ervey was a devoted father, a loving grandfather, great grandfather, and was recently made a great great grandfather. Ervey loved the outdoors and spent his time caring for his plants, trees and anything related to gardening. He was known to have a great sense of humor, enjoyed reading, and loved to watch classic comedy movies and series. Ervey will be missed by all his friends and family.
