Griselda Delgado Zuniga (Gracie), 72 of Slidell, Texas. The wife of the late Jose Ma. Zuniga and wife of Benjamin Alvarez, mother of Isaac Teran, Myrna Teran, Jose (Joe) Zuniga, Mayra Zuniga, Juan (Johnny) Zuniga, Noel Zuniga, Rosa Helfand and Marlyn Zuniga, went to sleep on September 9, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. Gracie worked as a C. N. A. for over 35 years. She was an amazing cook, her favorite was making tamales during the holidays. Even after her accident she was still making them and everything had to be handmade and fresh. Gracie would love it when family and friends would come over and just eat or drink a Dr. Pepper with her. Even though she was in a wheelchair she was like a private investigator. She could tell you who came down the street, what they looked like and what they drove. Then she would call one of her children and asked them to write down just incase. Gracie loved her family, friends and the Slidell (East Slidell as she would call it) Community. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite game was Mexican Lortria and she always won with "La Dama", as she was one with style just like her. She would always say she was deaf and blind, but some how she could play 15 cards with all the kids yelling and would still win. She is survived by her husband Ben, eight children, 31 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren with one on the way and eleven brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death by her husband Jose M. Zuniga, son Alvaro (Javier) Teran, grandson, Ricardo Chali, mother Maria Luisa Garcia Luna and father Manuel Delgado. Visitation will be Tuesday September 12, 2023 at DeBerry Funeral Home from 12 to 2pm. Funeral will be at 2pm with graveside service at 3 pm at Slidell Cemetery, Slidell TX. LaVerne Johnson Gee Rose passed on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. On September 2, 1928, in a two-story house on Main Street in Prosper, Texas, Mary Anna Settle Johnson gave birth to me. My daddy, Jerry Bright Johnson, and my mother, Mary Anna Settle Johnson were wonderful parents to me and my Brother, Pat Settle Johnson, (2 years older than me) . . . very proud of my brother. They both were wonderful Grandparents to my four daughters. When I was 3 years old, my Daddy purchased Navo Cash Grocery Store in the Navo Community . . . 5 miles west of Prosper, Texas and 15 miles east of Denton. In those days, it was far from being "CASH" as Daddy carried almost all the farmers in the community on "credit" from one crop to the next. It was tough, but we all made it. Most of the people in the community were wonderful, Godly folks and were at the Elm Ridge Methodist Church when the doors opened. I was 10 years old when I realized I was blessed with God's salvation and became a member of the Church. My mother played the piano for Church. And, after growing up some and taking piano lessons, if for some reason my mother couldn't be there, I filled in as the pianist; and also led the Choir when the choir leader, Hylson Star, was absent. I also sang with two of my daddy's sisters, Lois & Odessa, at Community Singings & special occasions. The Elm Ridge Elementary School was established in the late 1800's and all the kids in the community went there through the fifth grade. After graduating fifth grade, I went to Denton Junior High School and then Denton Senior High School on Congress Street. Also went one year to North Texas State Teachers College, Denton, Texas, now UNT. In 1946 I married Benny Wayne Gee from the Navo Community, originally from Howe, TX, and had four beautiful, lovely daughters. Divorced in 1968. Prior to 1946, I worked for Clyde Harper in his grocery store in downtown Prosper, Texas. In 1948 and 1949, worked for Employers Casualty Company, downtown Dallas; 1950-1954, worked for Oil Well Supply, downtown Dallas; April 1959, worked for Newt Seagraves, Denton County Tax Assessor and Collector, during Vehicle Registration "RUSH". Back then, registering vehicles had different rules . . . all vehicles had to be registered by the end of May. In May 1959, I began my career with Moore Business Forms Southern Division, Denton, Texas. I was an Administrative Assistant most of my 32 + years. I had wonderful bosses and my job was a challenge each and every day . . . loved it. I retired July 1, 1991. Prior to my retirement, an old acquaintance, Matlock Rose, and I began a companion relationship. We grew up in joining communities. Married October 13, 2000, and were very, very happy being together, going to Cutting Horse Events as Matlock had trained horses all his life with many, many champions in almost all class events in the American Quarter Horse Association and National Cutting Horse Association. Matlock passed January 5, 2008, and is a legend in the Quarter Horse Industry, as well as a Hall of Fame Member in AQHA, NCHA, and Cowboy Hall of Fame. My oldest daughter, Jana Lynn Gee Williamson, met our Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ, in 1977 as well as my Father in 1990, my Mother in 2000, and my Brother in 2010. I am proud to be an American & a Texan from Denton, Texas USA & almost all of my survivors are also: Daughters . . . Warren Nystrom

Warren Nystrom

Age - 90

November 28, 2023

On Sunday morning, November 26th, 2023, Warren Reuben Nystrom finished his earthly race and entered Christ's rest, joining his wife, Ina, in the presence of His Lord and Savior forever and ever. Warren was born on February 17th, 1933 in Worthington, Minnesota. He grew up on his family's farm near Worthington. He loved to share stories and memories of his boyhood with his family, bringing them much joy. As a young boy, he helped the local veterinarian care for his family's farm animals. This job sparked a love for animals and a desire to be a veterinarian himself. Warren graduated from Worthington High School and later the University of Minnesota, where he completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. During his time at U of M, Warren met Gary Sheldon through Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. They became fast friends, and Warren soon met Gary's sister, Ina, on the steps outside of a church. Their relationship blossomed, and they were married on September 18th, 1959. God gave them 61 years together. Their marriage was characterized by great love and steadfast commitment to each other, and still stands as a godly example worth emulating for their family and all who witnessed it. Following his graduation from veterinary school, Warren joined the Air Force. He served as a veterinarian on bases in Reno, Nevada and Fukuoka, Japan. It was during his time in the Air Force that Warren's two children, Brenda and Brian, were born. Warren went on to serve for 20 years in the Air Force Reserves, retiring with the rank of Major. Upon being discharged from the military, Warren began working for the USDA in Minnesota. The family lived there until he was transferred to Denton, TX in 1970. In Denton, Warren was a member and deacon at Hillcrest Baptist Church and later a member and elder at Denton Bible Church. Through Denton Bible, he traveled on mission trips to several countries, including Russia and Venezuela. He and Ina faithfully served the church body by leading Bible studies, discipling and counseling married couples, and mentoring folks one-to-one. The Lord used Warren's faith, along with that of Ina's, to help and encourage many others and deepen their love for Him. Following Ina's death, Warren moved closer to his family in Granbury, TX in 2022. As a young boy, Warren came to faith in Christ after a visiting pastor challenged him and some other young men to believe in Jesus. Warren's trust in and obedience to Christ characterized his life. He lived as a man devoted to Jesus and the knowledge of God's Word, becoming a faithful teacher, disciplemaker, and evangelist. He continued in these roles until the end of his life. Warren enjoyed the world God made. He especially loved to fish, work in his yard, and spend time on the lake. In addition, he enjoyed working with his hands through hobbies like drawing and wood-working. He had a wonderful sense of humor, cracking many a joke and telling many a story. He was a light, and brought laughter and joy to all around him. Warren is survived by his daughter Brenda Warren (married to Greg) and his son Brian Nystrom (married to Gay). In addition, he is survived by seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Warren faithfully taught each one of them the Gospel: that man is hopelessly sinful, but Jesus Christ, the perfect Son of God, came to earth as God incarnate. He lived a sinless life and was crucified on our behalf. He was buried, and raised on the third day, ascending into heaven having conquered sin and death. He now sits at the right hand of God his Father, interceding on behalf of those who have been saved by grace through faith in Him. This Gospel was Warren's hope, and he would urge all to place their faith in it as well. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Denton Bible Church, 2300 E. University Dr. , Denton. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will be at a later date at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, TX.Show more
