Siempre te recordaremos Ella me preparaba el mejor cheesecake! Grandma was the best, always did her best at taking care of us. She loved her orange soda and her sweet bread. I always remembered her making me weird sandwiches, like once she made me a mustard sandwich. For as long as I remember, my Grandma showed us unconditional love. She was always there for us, helped raise us, and above all else showed us how far she would go for her family. Her sense of humor would light up the room even 'til her last words. In a way, her love was like a fortress/ safe haven. She would take anyone in & showed them shelter, protection, compassion, and most importantly, she would feed them non-stop delicious food good for the heart & soul. To me, personally, I will always remember her for her love above all else. She helped raise me & I will always be grateful even for the little things she did for me. All the horse-play we did, the jokes and sayings told, even the nice talks we would have over a nice cup of coffee & bread. I love you Grandma and I will always remember you. Thank you, my sweet angel. What I most liked about my grandma was her love, strength, and determination. She was the strongest woman you could ever know. Doesn't matter who it was, she was always there for everyone. She loved her family, and she always knew just what to say. Her love will forever carry on. Mami, te amo con todo mi corazon hasta el infinito y mas alla. Madre, siempre recordare la fortaleza que tuviste para sacarnos adelante. Te amo y te recordare siempre.Show more

Barbara Kunec

Barbara Kunec

Age - 93

December 9, 2023

Barbara Louise Disser Kunec, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and lifelong Catholic, joined her Heavenly Father on November 23, 2023. Barbara was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 16, 1930, the eldest daughter of Milton and Vivian Disser, and sister of Milton, Jr. , and Vivian Anne. She lived in Lexington, Michigan, where she grew up. After graduating from Our Lady of Mercy High School, in Farmington, Barbara attended business school, and then worked with her father, joined later by her sister. She met her husband, Joseph, and was happily married, eventually having seven children who were her greatest blessings. Barbara's family was of the utmost importance to her, and she had an abundance of love for her children and grandchildren. She had a true mother's heart, full of generosity and kindness, which she shared with everyone around her. Her sweet personality naturally drew people to her, and they were better for having met her. Barbara was loving and nurturing, and drew happiness from taking care of others. Her children spent their entire lives hearing how much everyone loved their mom, and the pride and joy it brought them was boundless. Barbara never met a stranger, because a friendship was only a hug, a kiss on the cheek, or a fist bump away. She spent her life loving others, asking God "help us to help others" at the end of every blessing. She was always focused on making sure everyone around her felt special and worthy and loved, and she was loved abundantly in return. The family is especially thankful to all of the friends and staff at Parkway Place, who loved our mother like she was their own. We appreciate all of you more than you know. Thanks for making a new environment feel like a second home. Barbara is survived by six of her seven children: Theresa Milcik and husband, Paul, of Fulshear; Patricia Boushka and husband, Jim, of Austin; Kevin Kunec and Laura Manion, of Houston; Bridget Riha and husband, Stephen, of Houston; Sean Kunec and wife, Amber, of Pearland; and Brian Kunec and wife, Terrie, of Hanalei, Hawaii.
