Grace Savage Obituary

Grace Savage, age 95, died peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Elison in Marietta, Ohio, after an over 12 year affliction with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Gustave A. and Lena Monzo Meyer on October 12, 1927. She attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Michigan State College (now University) in 1949 with a degree in Business Administration. While attending college she met the love of her life, George E. ("Doc") Savage. They were married October 6. 1951. After marriage they moved to Flint, Michigan. While in Flint (and later Flushing) Grace was active at her church (Trinity United Methodist, Flushing United Methodist Church), Flint Chapter 138 OES (past WM), Ladies Oriental Shrine, AAUW, as well as being roped into volunteering at numerous school related activities her daughter would manage to get involved in. After moving to Marietta, she became a member of Christ United Methodist Church as well as numerous bridge clubs. Grace is survived by her daughter Carol A. Savage-Thomson, granddaughters, Karen A. (Scott) Landrum, Jane A. (Tyler) Thomson-Timko, and Rebecca A. (Robert Stegbauer) Thomson and great-granddaughters Eden G. Wagner and Murphy M. Timko. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Henry G. Meyer, 2 infants, and her husband, George. The family would like to that Elison (and its previous iterations back through Emeritus, Brookdale, and Elmcroft) staff for their compassionate care of Grace through her journey these past nearly 9 years, and the wonderful staff at Amedisys Hospice during her final months. There will be no visitation or services. Interment will be in Flint at the convenience of the family.
