Flo was born on May 24, 1937 in Abilene, TX to parents Vernis and Lorene Ohlhausen, the fifth child of seven.Flo had an outgoing, vibrant personality and enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. She was a loving and friendly individual with an infectious smile and a quick laugh. Flo was energetic, kind, and fiercely independent, often making her own home, car and electronic repairs. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, sometimes playing Barbies or basketball with her grandchildren, attending concerts put on by her middle daughter, or spending afternoons sightseeing and hiking with her other two daughters. Regardless of what she was doing, if she was with family, her smile never left her face.Flo graduated from Wylie High School in 1955 and worked for a short time afterwards as a secretary before meeting the man who would become her husband. They moved from Texas to Arizona where Flo was a dedicated parent and homemaker. Later, she took positions with the school district where she worked as an educational classroom aid and eventually as the executive assistant to the school superintendent. She was actively involved in all three of her daughters’ high school band activities and served on the Band Booster board for the Coronado Marching Band. Upon retiring, she and her husband moved to Payson, Arizona where they lived in the home of their dreams that Flo helped to both design and build. After retirement, she volunteered with the Payson Senior Center where she was able to continue helping others, finding fulfillment in giving her time and energy to her community and enriching people’s lives. She is preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Bird; her parents, Vernis and Lorene; her siblings Betty White, Dovie Bales, Velma Lewis, and David Ohlhausen. Thomas Allen Baker, age 66, of Chandler, Arizona passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Our deepest condolences to family and friends for their loss. In your time of sorrow, light a candle in remembrance of those no longer with us. Four Candles: The first candle represents our grief. The pain of losing you is intense. It reminds us of the depth of our love for you. This second candle represents our courage. To confront our sorrow, to comfort each other, to change our lives. This third candle we light in your memory. For the times we laughed, the times we cried, the times we were angry with each other, the silly things you did, the caring and joy you gave us.
