Gordon Eddy Obituary

Age - 96
May 9, 2023
Plymouth, MI
"Gordon G. Eddy passed into eternal life on Friday, May 6, 2023, by the grace of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Just one day prior he had suffered a debilitating stroke which left him unable to speak and most sadly, unable to hold a pencil. Even in this condition his love overflowed. Gordon was born on January 24, 1927 in Detroit, MI, the younger of two children. He had passion for both music and art from an early age. He took up violin in primary school. When he was in third grade his mother received a letter from his elementary school principal that praised his violin ability and humble spirit. As he grew he decided to pursue art for his career path. He attended Cass Tech High, served a short while in the Army during WW2, and married in 1948. He met his wife, Pat, through a blind date and took her to the play 'Oklahoma'. Gordon and his wife Pat moved to Plymouth in 1962 where they had a home built which he helped design that featured beautiful picture windows. They loved this new community where they settled in and raised six children, Janet, Mike, Caron, Nancy, Scott and Brook. Often you would see him out walking swiftly through the neighborhood in his identifying canary yellow Eddie Bauer jacket. He was a model dad with a great sense of humor, full of faith, love and zest for life. He faithfully attended Risen Christ Lutheran Church and served many years there as an elder. It was here that he and his wife developed their closest relationships. Gordon was employed by Campbell Ewald advertising agency for thirty years, retiring in 1985 as an Art Director. At a young 58, he created Plymouth Art Studio, a new business to continue using his talents. Many families asked to have him paint a water color of their home and his business boomed. He was one of the first artists to be called to participate in Art in the Park, where he would perform quick portraits. However, if you were to ask him, his all-time claim to fame was creating the logo for Horton Plumbing. Once the love of his life passed away, at 94 years old, he decided to move to Texas where he would be close to his great grandchildren and able to enjoy a warmer climate. While living at the Delaney senior care facility, he continued to share his gift of art with all the residents there, keeping his sketch book in hand, capturing all the live resident \u0027models\u0027 every waking moment. Gordon was dearly loved by all who knew him. He leaves behind three remaining children, Nancy (husband Jerry Vorva), Scott (wife Sandy) and Brook, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Visitation Sunday May 21st from 5 PM until the 6 PM Memorial Service at Risen Christ Lutheran Church, 46250 Ann Arbor Road West, Plymouth, Michigan 48170. Mr. Eddy's cremains will be interred in Riverside Cemetery next to his dear deceased wife, Patricia. Memorial Contributions may be made to the church.
