"Lorene Grissom Rich was born January 25th 1955 in Barrow County, Georgia to the late Mr. Curtis Jake Grissom and Mrs. Winnie Lee Grissom Russell. She was the youngest of seven children born to this union. She departed this life Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Northside Medical Center, Lawrenceville, Georgia. She was a member of White Oak Springs Missionary Baptist Church until her health began to fail. Lorene attended Glenwood schools and enjoyed working construction and was last employed at John Mansville Inc. in Winder, Georgia. She loved to talk, laugh, and have fun and you could expect a daily call from her. When you saw Lorene you could count on her being in her heels, jewelry, and eyelashes. She was preceded in death by her father Curtis Jake Grissom; Mother, Winnie Lee Grissom Russell; sisters, Virginia Grissom Williams and Emma Grissom; and brother Buren Lee Russell. She leaves precious memories to her children Trina Grissom and Melitta Weaver; siblings, Mary Ann Grissom Price, Saralee Johnson,Jon (Cathy) Grissom, and La Trelle(Charles) Pate. Grand children; Shakari Grissom, Dante Weaver, Cameron Millsap, Aliyah Weaver and Taylor Millsap. 4 Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends."

She was 88yrs of age.Bessie Nell was born on January 27th, 1936, in Carthage, Ms. to J.C. and Jessie Crouther. She was the third of nine children. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age at Zion Hill AME church. She attended Wesley Chapel High School and graduated in 1955. Bessie Nell went on to study practical nursing at Mississippi Valley State and Natchez Charity Hospital. After graduating on September 19th, 1956, she started her first job as an LPN at Leake Memorial Hospital in Carthage on September 20th. She has the honor of being the first African American nurse to be hired by the hospital. She made it her mission to care for the sick and injured throughout her work at the hospital. She would retire from Leake Memorial in July of 1990, promising her co-workers that she would be back part time a her farewell party. True to her word, she continued working part time at both Leake Memorial and at Scott Regional Hospital in Morton, Mississippi. Finally, at the age of 75, her children convinced her to not renew her nursing license and finally retire for good.In 1957, she met the love her life, L.V. (Hambone) Jones and they wed on April 27th, 1958. Together raised 6 remarkable children. Desi, Debbie, Jeanette, Jerome, Laschelle, and Jason. Her children were her pride and joy. She excelled at motherhood and was the foundation of her family. She was a woman of strong faith, an she instilled in her children the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. As a mother, she was a true role model who we will always look up to. She moved her membership to Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church and remained a faithful member until she was called home.She also “loved” being a grandmother! She would travel all over the United States to make sure that she never missed any of their special dates. whether it was a birthday party, kindergarten graduation, sports event, dance recital, piano recital, choral concert, high school and college graduation programs, Grandma was going to be in attendance.Her passions were her family, he church, her Mississippi State Bulldogs, the Dallas Cowboys, and quilting. She loved to spend hours putting quilts together while watching her Bulldogs play on Saturday and while watching her “stories” during the week. Her family knew not to call her whenever the Young and The Restless or The Bold & The Beautiful were on the television, she would not answer.Bessie Nell was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Jessie; her husband L.V. (Hambone); two daughter, Jeanette Beatie and Debbie Jones; two sisters, Myrtle Bell Morton and Baby Ruth Crouther; and brother, Elvin Crouther.She is survived by her children; Desi Crouther (Marilyn); Jerome Jones (Joy); Laschelle Jones- Cooper (Desmond); and Jason Jones. Her sisters: Willie Bea Avant and Lillie Jackson. Her brothers: Albert Crouther (Jackie); Bobby Crouther (Robin); and Mitchell Crouther (Beverly). Her son-in-loves: Will Beatie (Sandy) and her daughter-in-loves: Tonya Stowers and Tammie Davis-Jones.Her grandchildren: Willie Beatie (Mindy); Jeffery Jones (Morgan); Kendall Crouther, Alex Jones, Myles Crouther, A.D. Beatie, Tevin Jones, Cameron Jones, Tyla Parks (Anderson); Sean Crouther, and her baby Averie Jones. Her great-grandchildren: Lenox and Roman Jones.Her bonus children, grand children and great-grandchildren: Ossie Whittington (Denise); Ellen Gray (Willie Earl); Lester Jones; Baraka Perez (Anthony); Deidre Lavine (Kevin); Patricia Santos; Pamela Santos; Kesha Pommier; Willie Earl Gray Jr.; Tamia Cavett; Simone Lassere; Chantae Davis; Darnell Payton; Jordan Whittington; Morgan Pommier; Allana Pommier; Miles Perez; Riley Perez; Zayden Johnson; and Royce Davis.Her “Adopted” family and grandchildren: Pat Stokes; Elaine Cleveland; Shalette Curry and Jaylen Banks, as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.Bessie Nell's life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, the lives she touched, and the love she shared. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will bloom eternally in the hearts of those she has left behind.

Mr. Thurston “Pinky” Gerald Estes, age 79 of E. Tugalo Street, Toccoa passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 at Northside Hospital Gwinnett.A son of the late Walter and Evelyn Moore Estes, he was born June 13, 1944 in Toccoa, Georgia having lived the greater part of his life in Toccoa. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Marketing and was retired from Coca Cola. He served on the Historic Preservation Commission and Ethics Committee for the City of Toccoa. He was a member of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed camping, fishing and refinishing furniture.He was preceded in death by his parents and by an infant son, William Estes.Survivors include his wife of the home, Diane Harrison Estes; son, Rusty Estes of Watkinsville, Georgia and grandsons, Anderson and Daxton who were the light of his life.His wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Thurston “Pinky” Estes.

Virginia R. Witte Virginia Rose Witte, 76, passed away on February 8, 2024 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Ginger was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 5, 1947. She is survived by her three daughters Gwendelyn (Mike) Volpe, Melissa (Mike) Wegman , and Jennifer (Cor) Hagen; ten grandchildren, Brittany (Ryan) Armstrong, Colton Volpe, Michael Wegman, Tanner Volpe, Brody Volpe, Sebastiaan Hagen, Sam (Rylie) Byse, Zachary Wegman, Jack Byse, and Max Byse; four great-grandchildren Maisley Armstrong, Emery Armstrong, Josie Armstrong, and Baby Byse coming in September; and her beloved dogs Sugar, Belle, and Titan. Ginger was the daughter of Betty Luckey; sister of Frank (Mary) Luckey, aunt of Richard (Kayla) Luckey, and Christopher (Jenny) Luckey. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Luckey and niece, Holly Popp. Ginger was devoted to her community throughout her life, volunteering for a variety of organizations and causes. She graduated from Mount Saint Joseph College with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and went on to earn her Master's Degree decades later. She loved being involved with the Girl Scouts of America and was elected and served as the first female Delhi Township trustee. She was a great friend and Grammie to many. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Ginger’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing. All are welcome to join us to celebrate Ginger’s life. Visitation will be held on March 14, 2024 in Cincinnati, Ohio at Vitt, Stermer, Anderson Funeral Home Delhi from 8:30am-10:30am followed by a funeral mass at St. William Church at 11:00am. Mass will be live streamed on the St. William Church Cincinnati YouTube channel for those who cannot attend in person. Calvin "Cal" Warlick age 83 of Lawrenceville GA; passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Cal had a lifelong career as an artist & illustrator beginning out of high school in 1959. Cal started his career at the Atlanta Journal & Constitution in the art department, doing ads for the newspaper for eight years. Cal then went to work at Channel 5 in Atlanta doing various programs, and courtroom sketches. Later in his career, he worked as the art director for the Gwinnett Daily News. When the newspaper closed, he started freelancing doing illustrations for magazines, etc. Cal enjoyed doing drawings of Collegiate football mascot prints and sharing them with others. Cal was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Lawrenceville GA. Cal was preceded in death by his parents Charles & Myrtis Taylor Warlick, daughters Debra Warlick and Laurie Warlick, brothers, Charlie Warlick and Ralph Warlick. Cal is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Sue Warlick, grandson Alex Rohrer (Alyna), sister Sarah & (Don) Hall, sisters-in-law June Warlick, and Joanne Warlick. A Celebration Life Service will be held on Saturday February 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Byrd & Flanigan Funeral Service, Lawrenceville GA with Pastor James Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations may be made to Creative Enterprises 701 Hi Hope Lane, Lawrenceville, GA 30043.

Ronald Eugene Ramos, age 62, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024 and transitioned to his heavenly home. He came to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, faithfully studying Scripture and the Serenity Prayer had special meaning to him. He was the son of mother, Evellin Reynolds and late father, Gilberto Ramos. Over his lifetime, he lived in Indiana, Florida and Georgia and worked in carpentry and landscaping. He attended Edison Sr. High in Lake Station, IN and graduated in 1980 from Hillsborough High School in Tampa, FL. He also served in the Navy and enjoyed interests in music and fishing. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
