In Loving Memory of Gloria Semedo Gloria Semedo, age 93, formerly a resident of Port Charlotte, Florida, and most recently residing in Katy, Texas, peacefully departed this world on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023. Gloria came into this world on November 14th, 1929, in Kingston, Jamaica, the beloved daughter of John and Mariam Brown. She was the youngest daughter of their ten children, sharing her journey with her siblings Kenneth, Frank, Victor, David, Noel, Arthur, Olga, Eric, and John Jr. She embarked on her American adventure, which included stops in Great Britain and Canada, eventually settling in Randolph, Massachusetts, where she encountered and married the love of her life, Robert L Semedo, on September 4th, 1976. She dedicated over two decades of her life to serving the United States Federal Government's Boston Field Office in various capacities, contributing her unwavering commitment and expertise. Gloria later embraced retirement in 1989. Gloria was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert, as well as her son, Robert (Bobby) Jr. , and daughter, Chery Reid. She leaves behind cherished memories with her daughters: Sandra Kouyate (Makan), Juanita Semedo, and Patricia Ochogu (Lenny). Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren: Vonnessa Goode-Knight, Maddrey Goode, Tanika Williams (David), William Jackson (Sarah), and Lynisha Ochogu, as well as her ten great-grandchildren: Mercedes, Kobe, Naomi, Mya, Jeremiah, Sophia, David Jr. , Kyrie, Alana, and Mckenna. Gloria also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom hold her in their hearts and will dearly miss her. Services to honor Gloria's life will take place at the Robert J Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, located at 1803 Centre St, West Roxbury, MA 02132, on Monday September 18th, 2023, at 11:00 am. Following the service, she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Robert, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Helen Ann Pivirotto, 64, of Katy, Texas peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on December 6, 2023. Helen showed remarkable strength and courage throughout her brave journey with cancer. Helen was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on January 25, 1959 to John and Maria Maslo. Her calling for serving others with a heart of compassion placed her in the healthcare setting at the early age of 16, where she met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Pivirotto. She continued her passion of service and graduated from Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing in 1981, becoming a registered nurse. She worked the entirety of her 36 year career in the emergency department. Often neglecting the needs of herself for the needs and well-being of her many friends and family, she was unselfish to a fault. Helen was a very special mother to her two daughters, and was an outstanding example of a true matriarch. She was blessed with a green thumb, and took great pride in gardening, but her greatest joy was her beloved grandson, Michael, whom she adored. To say that her family and friends will miss her is an understatement. Between the many patients she unconditionally cared for, fellow nurses (especially her good friends), and the doctors she worked with, Helen was a well-respected and cherished colleague. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maria Maslo, and her husband of 34 years, Robert "Bob" Pivirotto. She leaves behind daughter, Christina Pivirotto and husband, Justin of Houston, Texas; daughter, Katherine Pivirotto and husband, Amani of Houston, Texas; grandson, Michael; sister, Nina Ready of Mystic, Connecticut; brother, Basil Maslo of Trumbull, Connecticut; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Faith Pivirotto of Franklin, Vermont; brother-in-law, Ed Pivirotto of Gainesville, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Arnie Bohanon of Radford, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Judy Pivirotto of Bristol, Virginia; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Paul Douglas Taylor, 81, lifelong resident of Sweetwater, TX,recently relocated to Katy, Texas, passed away on December 6, 2023. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A. M. Monday, December 11, 2023 at Highland Heights United Methodist Church in Sweetwater with Rev. Larry Holder officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery directed by McCoy Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday, December 10, from 5 to 7 P. M. at McCoy Funeral Home. Doug was born on February 21, 1942 to Bryant and Aetna (McGlothlin) Taylor, in Sweetwater, TX. He grew up in Sweetwater, graduating from Sweetwater High School in 1960. He attended McMurry University for a short time. He married Evelyn Jenene Headstream on July 20, 1963 in Sweetwater. Doug was a lifelong member of Highland Heights United Methodist Church, serving on various church committees throughout the years. He spent most of his life in the retail tire business, most recently owning and operating Taylor Tire and Appliance until retirement. He loved woodworking and always had a project going on, including building furniture, and in his retirement, habitats for birds, cats, dogs, and even an owl, by special request. Together with his brothers, they designed and built each of their family homes. Doug was known for his work serving others: building wheelchair ramps with Texas Ramp Project, providing tax services through AARP, PCJC meal delivery, and up until his recent hospitalization, building and selling birdhouses to support local ministries. He is survived by his wife Jenene Taylor of Katy TX, daughters, Carolyn Walker (Brent) of Katy, TX, Jennifer Bird (Cecil) of Cleburne, TX, Paula Schubert of Missouri; 12 grandchildren: Stephen Walker (Heather), Justin Walker (Christie), Taylor Houy (Mike), all of Katy, TX, Kyle Schubert (Andrea) of Luray, MO, Kase Schubert (Cheyenne) of Mammoth Springs, AR, Lendi, Lacey and Wes Schubert of Missouri, Christa Moore of Tumwater, WA, Mikala Moore of Huntsville, TX, Justin Bird of Sweetwater, TX, and Kassidy Bird of Little Elm, TX, 21 great-grandchildren, and several beloved nieces and nephews. Carlos Eugenio Bullos Tutsnak Carlos Eugenio Bullos Tutsnak, born on September 24, 1938, in Caracas, Venezuela, to Carlos Miguel Bullos Beltran and Clara Ana Tutsnak Schwartner, peacefully departed this world on December 1, 2023, surrounded by family. He spent his formative years in Caracas, La Guaira, Anaco in Venezuela, New York, and eventually settled in Dallas, Texas in his later years. Educated at The Peddie School in Highstown, NJ, Carlos graduated in 1956 and continued his academic journey at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, earning a B. A. in Finance in 1960. Renowned for his love of reading across various subjects, he earned a reputation as a walking encyclopedia. Carlos's passion extended to researching his family's genealogy, allowing him to trace his roots back to the early 1700s and 1800s. A meticulous planner, he ensured perfection in every travel moment for his family, using these opportunities to connect with friends and relatives worldwide. A captivating storyteller and historian, Carlos was deeply devoted to his community and dedicated himself to helping those in need. He was a natural connector, consistently bringing people together. On December 22, 1968, Carlos married Mercedes San Roman de Bullos in New York City, NY, and together, they built a beautiful family with their four children: Carlos G. Bullos, Juan D. Bullos, Mercedes E. Cabanilla, and Atilano J. Bullos. Throughout his distinguished career, Carlos left an indelible mark on various industries. From his work with Mobil Oil in Venezuela (1960-1968) to roles at Mobil Latam in New York (1969-1970), Occidental Petroleum Venezuela (1974-1977), Maxecon Management Consulting (1977-1984), Republic Bank Dallas (1981-1989), Centro Venezolano Americano (1990-1992), Banco Union as a director (1979-2001), and Marroco Consulting (2001-2010), Carlos demonstrated unwavering commitment to his professional endeavors. As one of the founders and later the President of Goodwill Industries Venezuela (2001-2023) and a key figure in Queremos Graduarnos (2015-2023), Carlos actively contributed to the betterment of society, particularly by assisting those facing disabilities and economic hardships. He also devoted numerous years to the service of Rotary International, having served as the President of Rotary Club Chacao and as the Governor for District 4370 (1999-2000). A generous soul, he never turned away anyone in need of his help and support. He firmly believed that meaningful change could only be achieved through hard work, selfless dedication, and a commitment to others. Brian Arnold Mitchell, Sr. , age 78, passed away on December 1, 2023, in Katy, Texas. Brian was born on November 5, 1945, in Houston, Texas, as the third child of Preston and Mildred Mitchell. He joined the Air Force in 1964 and was stationed at Brooks AFB School of Aerospace Medicine in San Antonio, TX where he met his wife, Sylvia. They were married in 1966 and had three children. He received his Bachelor of Business degree from St. Mary's University and went on to have a successful career in Oil and Gas Accounting where he traveled extensively. He was a history buff and participated in his children and grandchildren's soccer activities as a coach, referee, and spectator. He enjoyed playing Disney Bingo and Fun Friday trips with his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Carl Mitchell; his sister, Mary Ellen Dickerson, and his granddaughter Callie Marie Mitchell. Helen Depew Stockwell, resident of Katy, Texas, graduated to Heaven on December 1, 2023 at the age of 96. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Stockwell Prescott (Tony), and by her sons, David Stockwell (Amy), Tom Stockwell, and Mick Stockwell (Dalese); 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, William, Sr. and Hilda Scheel Depew; husband and father to her children, Vernon Ray Stockwell, Sr. ; son Vernon Stockwell, Jr. ; great grandson, Bridger Stockwell; and sisters Marie Purcell Parrish; Louise DeYoung Vesper; brothers John, Leslie, Warren, and William Depew, Jr. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Born and reared in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she married the love of her life, Vernon Stockwell, in 1946. Together, they reared their five children while Mr. Stockwell served as principal of Glen Oaks High School. The Stockwells were faithful members of Lanier Baptist Church for many years. She was a secretary at Hollywood Elementary and Park Forest Elementary in Baton Rouge for ten years. Helen enjoyed reading scripture, praying, singing hymns and spiritual songs, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Helen was involved in the praise and dance ministry of her local messianic Jewish congregation in Fort Worth, Texas for thirty years. She was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church Houston for the past nine years. Her contagious smile, joyful expressions, testimony of God's grace, and example of perseverance will be remembered and missed by all who knew her. When asked how she was doing, she always responded, "I am blessed!" A Celebration Service honoring Mrs. Stockwell's life will be held December 9, 2023, at 2:00 pm, at Westland Baptist Church, 1407 West Grand Parkway South, Katy, Texas, in the Chapel.
