Gloria Lucille Saunders, 86, of Yorktown, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Morrison Woods Health Campus following a lengthy illness. Gloria was born on December 12, 1936, in Evansville, to the late Carl and Minnie Burgdorf. She was a 1954 graduate of Reitz High School and worked as a property manager. Gloria had been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a member of the Elk's Country Club, Elk's Ladies Golf Assoc. , the Eagles Lodge, and the Moose Lodge. She was an avid golfer and had 7 holes in one. She enjoyed many sports including bowling and biking. She liked to exercise and was known as the "godmother" of her spinning group. One of her favorite places in the world was her condo in Fort Myers, Florida at Kelly Greens. Gloria is survived by five children, Toni Estep (husband Jim) of Yorktown, Scott Saunders (wife Kerry) of Colorado Springs, CO, Karen Grimes (husband Steve) of Maineville, OH, Randy Saunders (wife Kera) of Muncie, and Ryan Saunders (wife Amy) of Indianapolis; sister, Joyce Vaught of Evansville; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a niece; and two nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Kenneth Saunders; an infant son, Michael Saunders; brother, Wayne Burgdorf; and her mother-in-law, Melinda Murphy. A funeral service to celebrate Gloria's life will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Gant Funeral Homes - Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. , in Yorktown. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Wednesday at Gant Funeral Homes - Yorktown Chapel. Eric G. Boothby, 60, of Yorktown, Indiana, passed away September 3, 2023, at home. He was born January 15, 1963, in Monticello, Indiana, to G. Eugene Boothby and Barbara J. (Bielfeldt) Boothby. He graduated from Twin Lakes High School and Ball State University with an associate degree and a bachelor's degree receiving a Magna Cum Laude diploma. He received several academic honors including the Outstanding Senior Academic in Sociology Award. Eric was a musician and manager in several Muncie and Indianapolis area bands including "Touch of Brass. " He enjoyed playing the drums, other instruments and providing vocals. Eric will always be remembered for his loving personality especially with grandchildren. Eric is preceded in death by his mother, father and brother Robert J. Templeton. He is survived by his soulmate and partner of thirty-three years Cheryl (McCarthy) Schut. Eric will be greatly missed by Cheryl's mother (Donna McCarthy), daughter Angela Schut and her three granddaughters, three grandsons, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson all of Yorktown, Indiana. Also surviving Eric is his brother Bill L. (Sue) Templeton of Chocowinity, North Carolina, sister-in-law Sandy Templeton of Paris, Illinois, four nieces, two nephews, six great-nieces and five great-nephews. Eric Bruce Schleicher, 68, of Yorktown, IN passed away on July 9, 2023, at IU Health hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Eric was born on May 29, 1955. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Julia Schleicher, and his wife Holly. He is survived by his daughter Haley Schleicher (wife Sophie), his sisters Karla Rinehart (Jeff), Gretchen Owens (Frank), and his brother Roland (Rosemary), and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Eric graduated from Carmel H. S. and continued his education at Purdue where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy. Upon graduation, Purdue hired him to take care of their athletic fields. He left Purdue to be a greenskeeper. His career which spanned several golf courses eventually led him to the Crestview Golf Club in Muncie, IN. Eric's wealth of knowledge about groundskeeping and care for the golf courses he worked at will be irreplaceable. While working at Purdue, Eric met Holly Kimbrell, the love of his life. They married in 1986 and welcomed their daughter, Haley, in 1993. Eric was a very dedicated husband and father. Eric loved living life and always saw the best in any situation. There was not a person or animal he couldn't befriend. During his time at Crestview, he made a special group of friends that became family. He will be missed sorely by his family and many good friends. "YORKTOWN, INDIANA - Lillian May Garner, 97, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023 after a short illness. She was born January 9, 1926, in Cudahy, Wisconsin, the oldest daughter of Joel William Irwin and Mildred Orvella (Ellis) Irwin. Lillian married Robert C. Garner on September 1, 1946, and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2002. Mrs. Garner was a homemaker, raising three children and babysat for several families. She also worked at Cooper's Sport Bowl in Anderson for over 20 years. Survivors include her three children: Gail (Wayne) Tuckerman, Coker, Alabama; Mark (Deborah Faye) Garner, Middletown, Indiana and Deborah Kay Garner, Yorktown, Indiana, with whom she lived and who was her caregiver; six grandchildren: Kristy Abbett, Middletown, Indiana; Courtney (Chris) Wilkinson, Cadiz, Indiana; Benjamin Tuckerman, Cleveland, Tennessee; Sara Fielder, Cleveland, Tennessee; Jonathan Tuckerman, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and Brittany (Justin) Helman, Middletown, Indiana; 14 great-grandchildren; and 5 great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Eva Ruth Huntzinger, Middletown, Indiana; several nieces, nephews; special friend Rhonda (Mark) Campbell; and her fur-baby Niles. Besides her husband Robert, she is preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law Herman C. (Vashti) Garner; brother-in-law Rolland Huntzinger; sister and brother-in-law Fern (Dale) Kingery; brother and sister-in-law Milton (Dorothea) Garner; and several nieces and nephews. Cedar Rapids- Dean Allan Lake was born November 22, 1937, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Neville and Mildred (Thomas) Lake. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1955. Dean was united in marriage to Connie Jones on April 8, 1982, in Cedar Rapids. They were blessed with 40 year together. He worked for Quaker Oats for 45 years as a head roll operator in the Oatmeal Department. Dean grew up in Winfield then moved to Cedar Rapids after graduating, where he lived full time, until retiring in 2001. Dean and Connie spent their winters enjoying retirement in Texas. Dean passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023, at home in Yorktown, Indiana, with his family and dogs at his side. He was 85 years old. Dean is survived by his daughter, Tina Triggiani (Steven) Smith of Yorktown, IN; 2 grandchildren, Jacob (Elizabeth) Smith of Plainfield, IN and Jessica Smith (Zach Cramer), of Lawrence, IN; brother-in-law Kenton (Tracy) Jones of Parnell, and 2 nephews; Kyle Jones of Parnell and Trent Jones of Earlville. Ora "Bud" Loveless, 89, of Yorktown, Indiana passed away on May 10, 2022. Ora was born in Frankfort, Indiana on February 2, 1933. Ora called the Yorktown area his home from his early teens until the end of his life. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1951 an served in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955. Ora married Janet Marie Rees in July of 1956. They are parents to two daughters, Connie and Karen. Ora's love of building things culminated in three homes for his family, a pontoon boat, a pop-up camper, and a swimming pool for the backyard. Ora also loved to farm, and he and Janet took pride in their 22 acre property northwest of Yorktown. Ora's enjoyment of seeing new places took him to all 50 states in the U. S. , Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Ora retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 28 years of service. Previously he worked for Delco Remy, Warner Gear, Bacon American Corporation, and CIT Credit. Ora is survived by his wife Janet, and his daughters, Karen Musick and Connie Loveless. Ora is also survived by his bother Marvin Loveless (wife Deloris), granddaughter Kitra Musick, grandson Jacob Musick, and great-granddaughter Rachel Baker. Ora is preceded in death by his parents Lorna and Helen Loveless, and his brothers David Loveless and James Ferguson. William E. McCully, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at his home. Bill was born on January 8, 1926, in Clarence, MO to the late Roy and Elva (Herrin) McCully. Bill was a 1944 graduate of Atlanta High School in Atlanta, MO. He was a WWII United States Army Veteran serving in Germany from 1944 - 1947. After returning from the war, Bill married Beulah Mae Appel on February 22, 1948. Bill was a Horologist who worked on clocks and watches. He attended and graduated from the Midwest School of Horology in Albany, MO in 1949. Bill moved to Chesterfield in 1952 and worked in Anderson at Hardin and Sons for many years. He later worked for Nicholson File Shop and also worked with his wife in direct sales for Golden Pride - Rawleigh Products. Bill loved the art and science of clocks and watches, dealing in restoration and repair his entire life. Bill was the last surviving founder and charter member of the Hoosier Model T Ford Club established in 1956. He was also a member of the Indiana Model A Restorers Club and the Central Indiana Old Car Club. He was one of the founders of the Linden Lane Church of God and later attended the North Anderson Church of God. Bill is survived by five children, Dixie McCready (Bill), Donald McCully, Darrell McCully (Jamie May, Denise Dudley, and Darren "Woody" McCully (Patti); ten grandchildren, Stephanie Smith (Mike), Mike McCully (Amy), Lyndsay McCully (Brian), Patrick McCully (Michelle), Ava Rose, Ryan McCully (Bridgett), Bryson Dudley (Leighanne), Colin Dudley (Lacey), Ryan McCready (Linda), and Bill McCready; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Beulah Mae Appel in 2017; four sisters, Edith McCully, Louise Ventola, Virginia Garnett, and Helen McCully; a brother, John McCully (Laura); and daughter-in-law, Jill McCully. Reverend Alvis Arie Sewell 96, of Yorktown Indiana, passed away at 4:30 am on January 8, 2021. He has gone to home to be with the Lord. Alvis was born on November 2,1924 to James Elzy and Kizzie Jane Garrett Sewell in the Mt. Helen Community in Fentress County Tennessee. On April 15, 1948 he married Amaryllis Nancy Terry Sewell who shortly passed after then celebrated their 70th anniversary. Rev. Sewell was most recently pastor at Glory Land United Baptist Church in Muncie, Indiana, and formerly pastored a church in Winchester Indiana, Fort Wayne United Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Fountain City Indiana Baptist Church, he has held numerous revivals over the years in Indiana, Tennessee and Kentucky where he saw several persons accept the Lord as their savior. In 1971 he retired from Warner Gear C. Borg after 33 years of service. After retiring he had his own upholstery shop, and worked for Yorktown Community Schools as a bus driver and janitor as well as his work in the ministry. He is also a 70 years Mason.
