Theresa Palmer

Theresa “Teri” Palmer, 68 Born in Butte in May 1955 to James and Julia Winston, the oldest of four children, Teri was ever Butte proud. She received an all Catholic education culminating with a Butte Central High School graduation. She stayed in close contact with many friends from her grade school days. She "officially" met the love of her life, Bill Palmer, at a friend's wedding....although she does tell family that she would look for any opportunity go to the grocery store he worked at to see (stalk) him. Teri started her higher education at St. Mary's College, which she affectionally referred to the second prison in Kansas. Thankfully she had her Great Aunt Sister Virginia to watch over her. She completed her undergrad at Eastern Montana College and began a teaching career at Ramsey Montana. Later, she completed her Master's Degree which she was very proud of. In the 30 plus years of her career, she taught 4th grade, junior high, and ended as the Director of Bridge Academy. She attempted to retire twice before the final success. In the first attempts, she taught at the juvenile detention center and worked as a case manager helping low income families. When nominated for teacher of the year colleagues described her unique ability to reach kids & help them see their potential. Over the years she had multiple students seek her out in gratitude. Teri and Bill married in 1977 and moved to Kalispell in 1983 where they raised three amazing daughters. We always laughed that the four girls taught Bill everything he ever wanted to know about being surrounded by strong women. Teri & Bill are honored by the many friendships who are loved as family. Teri was famous for inviting strangers, who were always treated like family, to dinner. She could be heard saying, "it's just one more potato" while Bill could be heard reminding her that the rest of the family should know their name before they attend Sunday dinner. Teri's faith held a significant place in her heart as did music. She loved playing the piano and teaching her granddaughters the same. She also loved knitting & sewing. The family has many fond memories of traveling for sports & activities for the kids/grandkids and spending summers camping. Teri was very proud of her rose garden and the memories that came with each plant. Teri is preceded in death by her father, James Winston; in-laws: Maddie and Larry Palmer; brothers-in-law: Danny Palmer and Ray Pascoe; nephew, Vincent Giamona; niece, Brooke Buhl; many loved aunts and uncles. Teri is survived by her loving husband, Bill; daughters: Angie (Trevor) Wickersham, Lissy (Sam) Boar, and Kristen; grandchildren: Brody and Madalynn, Ben and Grace; loving mother, Julia Ann Winston; siblings: Julie (Hal) Hubber, Ginger (Tommy) Gothro, and John (Cindy) Winston; in-laws: Ken (Micki) Palmer, Kathy Pascoe, George (Laurie) Palmer, Larriann (Mike) Murphy, Dave (Betsy) Palmer, Keith (Detta) Palmer, Peggy (Jim) Prendergast, Mary Palmer, Lynnette (Randy) Williams; aunts: Midge Rivenes and Peggy Flanick; uncle, Tom Holter. Teri was blessed by numerous nieces and nephews (including great) on both sides. A rosary will be held at St. Matthew's Church in Kalispell on March 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00am. A memorial service will be held in Butte later this spring. To send a flower arrangement or to plant trees in memory of Theresa "Teri" Palmer, please click here to visit our Sympathy Store.

Caroline Frances Decker

Caroline Frances Decker was born on May 14, 1941 in Libby, Montana. The first child born to Ned and Maybelle Decker. At the time the family was living in a logging camp on Dunn Creek for the J. Neils Timber Company. Soon the family moved to Rexford, Montana and added three more children, Kathy, Gene and Jeannette.Caroline attended grade school in Rexford and graduated high school from Lincoln County High School in 1959. Caroline started dating Ronnie St. Onge her senior year of high school. Their courtship culminated with marriage on April 23, 1960. Ronnie and Caroline moved into a small house in Stryker, Montana and soon added their first child, DeAnna. The family moved to Whitefish and continued to grow with the addition of three sons, Robert, Brian and Kevin. Life was very busy with four young children. Ron and Caroline purchased their first home in Kalispell and lived there for over 10 years. During that time, Caroline attended classes at Flathead Valley Community College and obtained an associates degree in Accounting. By then, Ron had started his own logging business and Caroline when not chasing around four busy children, did the books for the business. The family moved to Ferndale in 1974, purchasing a home from Clarence and Betty Gembala. Caroline gardened, canned and always had some type of needlework in her hands whether it was knitting, crocheting, sewing – she did it all. After the kids had graduated from high school, Caroline took the plunge with her business partner Barb Stewart and opened a ceramic shop in Bigfork called the Bigfork Clay Shoppe. Caroline spent many happy years at the shop and eventually bought out Barb’s interest. Many lifelong friendships were developed at the ceramic shop – the coffee pot was always on and the business was full of good cheer. Caroline’s friendship with Debbie Thompson started at the shop and when Caroline decided to retire, Debbie continued her love for ceramics.Upon retirement, Ron and Caroline started traveling to Arizona during the winter months. Eventually they purchased a park home in Casa Grande. Over the years, the date they would depart for Arizona would become earlier and earlier but they always made a point of coming back to Montana in time for Easter. In 2020, when returning from Arizona, Ron and Caroline were in a horrific accident in the pickup and toy hauler. The family made the choice to sell the Arizona property at that time and sold their Ferndale home two years later moving back to Kalispell into the Buffalo Hill Terrace facility.Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, Ned and Maybelle Decker, her brother Gene Decker and her granddaughter Veronica Rose St. Onge. Caroline is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ron St. Onge and two sisters, Kathy (Wes) Mapston and Jeannette (Arnold) Hansen. She is also survived by her children, DeAnna (Pat) Eisenman, Robert St. Onge, Brian (Laura) St. Onge and Kevin St. Onge. There are 9 grandchildren, Jason (Laura) Stahlberg, Rebecca Eisenman, Baylee Eisenman, Skyler (Colby) Robbins, Shane (Carly) St. Onge, Sheena St. Onge, Carrie (David) DeCamilla, Courtney (Josh) Billings and Jessica St. Onge. There are also 5 great-grandchildren, Emily, Logan, Jack and Katie Stahlberg and Owen DeCamilla. Several other close family members include Lorraine Decker, Ed and Ginger St. Onge and Lowell and Betty McKee along with several nieces and nephews.
