Roger Lee Mooney, 72, of Blanchard, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, in Oklahoma City. The son of Milton Edward Mooney and Beulah Faye (Foley) Mooney, he was born on July 17, 1951, in Houston, Texas. Roger married Cynthia Ann Curry on August 10, 1974, in Arlington, Texas. In his early career, he served as a firefighter and paramedic with the Dallas Fire Department. Roger worked as the office manager for the Texas Workforce Commission for many years. After retirement, he and Cindy moved to Blanchard where he attended Blanchard Methodist Church. In his spare time, Roger enjoyed working on his farm, trimming trees, and reading. He had a "sweet tooth" and his favorite part of every meal was dessert. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Roger is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cindy Mooney of Blanchard; one son, Matt Mooney and his wife, Alyssa, of Garland, Texas; one daughter, Megan Beardsley and her husband, Glenn, of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, Marshall, Eve, Alice, and Elliot; one sister, Linda Mooney of Graham, Texas; and many other relatives and friends. Amanda Louise Miedel was born on June 22, 1988, in Altus, Oklahoma to David Miedel and Melinda Berry Miedel. She passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Amanda grew up in Granite, Oklahoma, and was a happy and kind soul growing up. She loved her children, and her parents were her best friends. The bond she had with her parents was so special. No one had a relationship with their parents as Amanda did. Amanda attended school in Granite, where she graduated from high school in 2006. Soon after she graduated from high school, she pursued a college degree. After she completed some college courses, she was blessed with the most amazing gift and the joy of her life, Serenity Danielle, and became a full-time mom. She loved being a mom and was an amazing mother to her children. In her spare time, Amanda enjoyed arts and crafts and was a Jack of all trades and a homemaker. She loved to be with her family and friends. On March 28, 2023, she was blessed with her second child, Trucker David, from the moment he was born he was a mama's boy and never left her side. Serenity was her best friend, and they were inseparable. They did everything together. Her babies were her whole world. Amanda loved spending time with her friends. She was kind, generous, loving, sweet, and loved the Lord. She would help anyone she could. Her very best friend was Janna Mills, they spent their lives as best friends and always stayed close and took care of each other. She will be greatly missed by all who know her. He was born on January 2, 1963 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to LaFaye (Mendenhall) Hatley and Larry Wayne Underwood, Sr. and passed away on December 1, 2023 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was married to Debroah Underwood. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Air Force and was very proud of his military service. He also worked as an Accountant for the United States Navy and Wilson Heat and Air. He was a true "Harley Man" and loved to ride on the open road. He loved his family and was very close to them. Survivors are wife, Debroah Underwood; one daughter, Laresa Underwood of California; one sister, Sherry Gotham and Jim of Sapulpa, OK; three brothers, Terry Underwood and Jeana of Sallisaw, OK, Bill Underwood and Jenie of Owasso, OK and Ronnie Hatley, Jr. and Becky of Dyer, AR; mother and step-father, LaFaye and Ronnie Hatley, Sr. of Fort Smith, AR; and other relatives and friends. Oklahoma City resident, Barry Benefield, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, in Oklahoma City. Barry, the son of Walter "Loyd" and Margaret (Weldon) Benefield, was born December 28, 1942. Barry graduated from NW Classen High School with the class of 1960. He then attended law school at the University of Oklahoma and became a member of the American Bar Association on August 15, 1967. After completing law school, he worked on a project in New Jersey, where he fought against discrimination for all individuals. He worked for the Oklahoma Indian Legal Services. His heart was with the Native American Center, helping Native Americans all over the world with legal matters. Barry was scheduled to be awarded this month, for having the longest active license within the Oklahoma BAR Association. He watched the news religiously, both state and national. He enjoyed collecting penquins and art deco, listening to blues music, and growing his hibiscus plants, and he truly loved being an attorney and helping people. "Fredric (Freddie) Luke Cozad, 47, was born January 20th, 1976 to Lewis and Mabel (Tsoodle) Cozad. He departed this life peacefully to join his Lord and Savior on November 29th, 2023 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As a young boy, Freddie received his Kiowa name, Koy-Hodle, which translates to \u0026quot;lungs. \u0026quot; He treasured his Kiowa name, as it was passed down to him by his maternal grandfather, Fred Tsoodle. His paternal grandparents are the late Leonard Cozad, Sr. and Eva (Ahhaitty) Cozad. His maternal grandparents are the late Fred and Peggy (Toyebo) Tsoodle. Freddie was an enrolled member of the Kiowa Tribe and doted to others about being full-blood. He was a faithful member of Rainy Mountain Kiowa Indian Baptist Church, where, as a young boy, he dedicated his life to the Lord in Christian baptism. His knowledge of kgoye-daw-k\u0027ya-daw-gya (Kiowa Church hymns) was instilled in him as a young boy and he carried this responsibility of song with him all of his days. He was treasured by the Rainy Mountain congregation as a Kiowa song leader and also by the Kiowa people. Through his singing of Kiowa hymns, he consoled countless grieving families and uplifted others in joyful prayer. Even at his youthful age of 47, he left a powerful legacy of song and knowledge to the next generation of Kiowa people. Freddie earned his high school diploma from Anadarko High School. After high school, he attended college at Oklahoma City University. Through his studies, he was able to express and develop his artistic talents in drawing and music. Freddie was a treasured teacher and song keeper in the Kiowa tribe\u0027s language and culture program. Freddie\u0027s earliest and fondest memories as a boy and young man were in the Kiowa Gourd Clan arena, where he later became a loyal member and advisor. Throughout his life, Freddie traveled extensively across the United States and Canada. While making his footprints across Indian country, he formed numerous lifelong kinships, of which he always revered. In the southern style, Freddie was a world champion singer with his family drum group, Cozad. As a true Kiowa, Freddie\u0027s favorite past time was playing handgame. He was a proud captain of the Camp 7 handgame team, whom he considers his family. The most recent highlight of his handgame experience, was receiving \u0026quot;Best Singing Team\u0026quot; while representing the Kiowa Tribe at the 2022 Crow Nation Sr. Handgames im Crow Agency, Montana. Survivors include his father, Lewis Cozad, his mother, Mabel (Tsoodle) Cozad, sisters, Leora Guerrero and husband, Julian Sr. , and Amelia Lew Koshiway, special nephews (sons), Julian Guerrero, Jr. , and Tristan Koshiway, special nieces (daughters), Julia Guerrero, Angel Koshiway, Aubree Koshiway, and his first grandbaby, Sophia Leona Naomi, whom he doted on. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and loved ones. "Jeffery Eric Giblet (1963-2023) Jeffery Eric Giblet was born December 8, 1963, in Rocky. He departed this world November 24, 2023, in Oklahoma City. He was 59. Jeff was the youngest of eight children born to Lenore and Myrl Giblet of Rocky. On September 5, 1983, Jeff married the love of his life and best friend, Bonnie Sutton, also of Rocky. Together, they had two children - their firstborn, Quinton, and daughter, Kassandra. Then, between 2014 and 2017, the couple adopted five more children - Jessiah, Miranda, Kaylee, Joshua, and Alex - who range in age from 10 to 17. Jeff is survived by his son Quinton, and wife, Jenna, of Rocky; daughter Kassandra Raleigh and husband, Brandon, of Cordell; children Jessiah, Miranda, Kaylee, Joshua, and Alex of the home in Rocky; brother Vance and wife, Rita, of Mustang; brother Doug and wife, Pam, of Greenbrier, Arkansas; brother Lawrence and wife, Shari, of Cordell; brother Michael and wife, Darla, of Rocky; sister Becky Tittle of Rocky; and 11 grandchildren.
