Columbus Flack

December 5, 2023

In the early morning hours of November 29, 2023, Columbus Cornelius Flack, affectionately known to most as CC, got a new set of lungs as he transitioned into the everlasting arms of our Lord. Born on March 15, 1958, in Rutherfordton, NC, to Dennis Lee William Flack and Helen Eva Logan Flack, CC graduated from RS Central High School and served in the United States Army. He received an honorable discharge on March 24, 1983. Columbus was a Member of East White Oak Missionary Baptist Church. Dedicated and hard-working, CC worked for Proctor & Gamble for 34 years before retiring in 2015. There, he developed lifelong friendships and created an enduring brotherhood with many who remained a part of his daily life--his golf brothers. In 1983, CC met Donna Staley-Flack. On July 16, 1988, they set their love in stone--One Love shared by two. Married for over 35 years, CC and Donna created a spiritual foundation- a quiet and well-loved life of home and travel. Their love was uplifting and affirming. They were each other's biggest supporters. They shared a love admired by many. CC was an avid sports enthusiast, loving his daily dose of ESPN and seasons of football and basketball while his days and weekends were spent honing his golf game on the golf course. CC dedicated his entire life to family, friends, and especially his role as a father to his "best" son - Julian. His proudest moments were Julian's accomplishments from North Carolina A&T State University, then getting a Masters in Sports Management from Georgetown University, and landing his dream job supporting his passion for the business of basketball as General Manager for The CP3 Basketball Academy. CC's love for his sisters was endless, and he always looked forward to his daily calls with them. He was the ultimate "OG" uncle to his nephews, with regular phone calls to check in and drop wisdom. He greatly admired special close friends, golf buddies, and his grand dog "Sasha. " Columbus was preceded in death by his parents and three of his siblings: Brothers JC Flack and Robert Flack of Rutherfordton, NC; Sister Mildred Cannon (Lee) of Ellenboro, NC, who we are saddened that she passed four days before CC; and his mother-in-law, Sybil Staley of Greensboro, NC. CC is survived by his wife, Donna Staley-Flack of High Point, NC and his son, Julian Flack of Greensboro, NC; three sisters, Minnie Twitty (Eugene-Deceased) of Ellenboro, NC; Lois Staton of Biloxi, MS; Klonia Flack of Greensboro, NC; father-in-law, Hurley Staley of Greensboro, NC; brother-in-law, Hurley Staley, Jr. of Greensboro, NC; and sister-in-law, Angela Staley of Greensboro, NC. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A service honoring his life will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 12:30 pm at Locust Grove Baptist Church, Highway 150 Brown Summit, North Carolina. The visitation begins at noon. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 North O' Henry Blvd. Greensboro, NCShow more
