Kenneth D. Bishop, 69Kenneth D. Bishop, 69, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday December 3, 2023, at his home. He was born April 29, 1954, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Jane (English) and Walter E. Bishop. On June 15, 1974, he married Shelly A. (Hilliard) Bishop, who survives. Ken was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church of Punxsutawney. He was very involved with Vacation Bible School, served on multiple church committees, and served as a groundskeeper performing many tasks inside and outside the church. He loved his family, grandchildren, the fire department, and sports. He was an avid Punxsutawney Sports supporter and helped run the chains during football games. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penn State Football. Ken worked for Thermal Guard for over thirty years and retired from Punxsutawney Borough as a public works employee. He served in the fire service for over fifty years. First with the Rossiter Fire Volunteer Fire Company and most recently serving as Vice President and Fire Police Captain of the Lindsey Fire Company. In addition to his wife Shelly, he is survived by two sons, Ben Bishop and wife Julia of Punxsutawney and Reggie Bishop and wife Carrie of Punxsutawney; two grandchildren, Chloe and Jude Bishop; two step-grandchildren, Santana Smith and fiance Tristan Acre and Cameron Smith; a brother Jeff Bishop of Sarasota, FL; three sisters, Becky Brickell of Rossiter, Kae Shiock and husband John of Indiana, and Kim Stiver and husband Doug of Punxsutawney; mother-in-law Alberta Hilliard of Punxsutawney; sisters-in-law, Mel London and husband Dave of Punxsutawney and Deb Hoffman and husband Larry of New Bethlehem; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Bobbie Ray Bishop, father-in-law Charles Hilliard, and brother-in-law Therman Brickell. Patrick J. Brown, 55Patrick J. Brown, 55, of Punxsutawney, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, December 1, 2023. He was born January 26, 1968, in Punxsutawney, the son of the late A. Clark Brown and Mary K. (Thomas) Brown. PJ was a lifetime member of SS Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School. PJ was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his brother, Thomas C. Brown and sister-in-law Mary Lou (Snyder) Brown. PJ is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Mary Anne Fedder and husband Mark of Punxsutawney; Dr. Dan Brown and wife Angela of Sharon; Beth Dereume and husband Ben of Pittsburgh; and Katie Irwin and husband Nick of Trade City, as well as many great nieces and nephews. In addition to his family, PJ dearly loved his caretakers and friends at his Arc Community Home in Reynoldsville in which he resided for the past eight years. He also enjoyed working with friends at the Goodwill of DuBois and the Indiana County Workshop in Indiana. PJ was a fan of rock music and loved attending concerts to listen to his favorite bands including KISS and Journey. Shirley (Stewart) King, 97, of Brookville PA, passed away during the morning hours of Thursday, November 30, 2023. Shirley was born on December 4, 1925, in Meadville PA, to the late Robert and Irene (Shellito) Stewart. Shirley attended Linesville High School and went on to attend Nursing School in Meadville PA. Shirley married Fred W. King in Linesville PA, on July 13, 1946; he was the love of her life, and she has missed him dearly since his passing on November 5, 2012. When her first child was born in 1947, she opted to leave her career and focus her attention on raising her family. In 1954, Shirley and Fred settled in Brookville PA. Her family was the most important part of her life; always coming first. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were so dear to her. Shirley has been a longtime member of the Brookville First Methodist Church in Brookville PA. She loved being involved with her church and the various groups associated with the church. She enjoyed gardening and was once named gardener of the month. She enjoyed baking and was famous for her caramel popcorn throughout the neighborhood. Shirley is survived by her four sons; Kenneth S. (Renee) King, of Brookville PA; Robert F. King of Mentor, OH; Ronald E. (Karyn) King of Brookville, PA; Alan E. (Chris) King of Brookville, PA; and her daughter, Linda King Grinder of Brookville, PA. Five grandchildren; Brian G. King, Kayla Griffiths, Jenna Grinder, Brandon King, and Kaitlyn King. Five great-grandchildren; Donovan Griffiths, Jaedyn Griffiths, Brooklyn Griffiths, Reagan Griffiths, and Kentley McGhee. Shirley is also survived by her sister; Jane Stewart McDermott, and her brother, Fred Stewart, both of Linesville, PA. In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley is preceded in passing by her brother James R. Stewart; her sister Sue Mika; and her daughter-in-law; Linda G. King. Shirley's family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital and the Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor, and especially the staff of the Penn Highlands Jefferson Court for the many years they cared for their mother. She was born October 16, 1930, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Rhoda (Luce) and Jacob E. Lydick. On April 2, 1949, she married Delbert P. Reitz, who preceded her in death on January 2, 2022. Shirley was a graduate of the Punxsutawney High School Class of 1948 and was involved in organizing class reunions for many years. She was a very active member of the First English Lutheran Church of Punxsutawney. Shirley was community minded and supported various events and activities around Punxsutawney. She enjoyed her friends, baking, cooking, and crafts. She was a caregiver to her family and her late husband Delbert. Shirley is survived by two sons, Bill Reitz and wife Alyson of Glen Campbell and Dan Reitz and wife Kelly of Punxsutawney; three grandchildren, Renee Albert and husband Jamie, Danielle Lundy and husband Jay and Josh Reitz; four great-grandchildren, Dan Albert and wife Breanna, Hunter Albert and Patrick and Hazel Lundy. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Betty Baroni. She was born on September 22, 1937, to the late Newell C. and Beatrice (Fye) Sprague in Reynoldsville. Peg married the love of her life, John Whipple, on August 31, 1963, in Sykesville, PA; John preceded her in passing. Peg was a secretary for the Jefferson County Sherriff's Department and also worked for Soldier Christian Academy. Peg was a member of the Light and Life Free Methodist Church in Dubois. She enjoyed playing piano for nursing homes and church services. Peg also like to spend her time coloring, working with ceramics, and crafts. She also loved to travel, shopping, and going out to eat. Peg is survived by two children; Candace (Ron) Rucinski; Mark Whipple; one brother; Newell "Fuzz" Sprague; and five grandchildren; Jonathon, Kari, and Noelle Rucinski; Ashley Leonard; and Alyssa Whipple. Debra "Debi" Marie Britton, 60, of Knoxdale, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, while a patient at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Debi was born on September 25, 1963, to the late Ara Charles and Mary Anne (Livitski) Britton in Pittsburgh. Debi achieved a degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Edinboro University with the class of 1984. She was a member of Holy Ghost Orthodox Church in Ambridge, PA, and Living Church International in Summerville, PA. Debi loved arts and crafts of multiple media's, her favorites were painting, drawing, crocheting, sewing, and tailoring as well as designing floral arrangements. She enjoyed using her talents to bring others joy and to teach children and younger generations her skills. She was known for her cookie trays at Christmas time and loved trying new recipes. She didn't know a stranger and would make friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed volunteering, especially for the toy drives during the holidays, though in recent years she hadn't been able to. She was happiest at home with her son Nathan and beloved pets, especially her dog, Bo, who preceded her in death and her young dog Artemis who is lost without her. She adored her grandkids and the joy they brought her, even from a distance she was a still a powerful force in their lives and she will be greatly missed by them. In addition to Artemis, Debi is survived by two children; Nathan Thomas Britton; Nadine Aran (Anthony) Masucci; two siblings; Thomas (Carol) Britton; Ruth Ann (Robert) Messenger; and two grandchildren; Nicolai Ara-Miah Masucci; and Michail Charles-Stephen Masucci. In addition to her beloved dog Bo and her parents, Debi was preceded in passing by one aunt; Annie Hudichek; two uncles; Stephen Livitski; William Livitski; one brother; Charles Stephen Britton; and one brother in law; Nicholas Tita. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Punxsutawney and the Hannah Esther Circle at Church, and the Pocahontas Club. She enjoyed her family, traveling, cleaning and the flowers around her home. Merenia worked for Sylvania, Loree Footwear, Sportswear, and did home cleaning and was a caregiver. She is survived by one brother, Donald Schrock and wife Janet of Jay, ME; several nieces and nephews, Linda Smith and Husband Vern of Punxsutawney, Roxanne Gillies of TX, Jim Schrock and wife Luann of Punxsutawney, Terri Jean Schrock of ME, Charles Schrock and wife Paula of Punxsutawney, and Darlene Schrock of NY; and several great nieces and nephews. She was born on March 15, 1958, to the late Walter Kenneth and Johanna E. (Spinek) Davies in East Hampton, MA. She graduated from East Hampton High School with the class of 1976. She went on to receive an Associate's Degree in Computer Science from Holyoke Community College before achieving her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from American International College. Cindy worked for major utility suppliers in the area around her hometown for many years. Cindy married the love of her life, Jeffrey "Jeff" Blake Bryan, on October 9, 2006, in Las Vegas, NV; Jeff survives her. She was an auxiliary member of the Reynoldsville American Legion. Cindy was an extremely artistic person with a natural affinity for any craft she tried. She was an adept seamstress who became practiced in things like scrapbooking and decorating. She was also an experienced traveler who loved organizing and traveling with her family. Cindy was a loving mother and wife who will be missed dearly. In addition to her husband, Cindy is survived by two children; Tiffany Kozash; Zachary Kozash; and four siblings; Marcia Price; Nancy Nickerson; Leatrice "Lea" Archbald; and Lorelei Riley. Roger Glenn Reinard, 68, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, with his dear wife by his side. He was born in Indiana on April 08, 1955, a son of the late Burton Charles Reinard and Helen Pearl (Johnston) Reinard. He was Presbyterian by faith. After spending nearly thirty years together, he married the love of his life, Audrey Jean Manners on March 11, 2020. The two were inseparable from the moment they met. Roger worked for Ray Winters & Sons Construction for many years. He also worked for Dave's Metal Roofing. He was a quiet, gentle, caring and loving man. He never uttered a mean word about anyone, it just wasn't part of who he was. Going to camp in Pottersdale was one of his favorite things, he looked forward to bear camp and spending time with his camp buddies. He was a member of the Sinnemahoning Sportsman Club and the Mosquito Creek Sportsman Association. He and his wife enjoyed going on motorcycle poker runs and fund-raising events in support of others. They just enjoyed riding all over to take in the sights and spend time together. In addition to Audrey, he is survived by a step-son, Randy (fiance Jennifer Brown) Fetterman of Punxsutawney; two brothers, Ralph Reinard of Maine and Kenneth Reinard of Homer City; one sister, Wilma Miller of Blairsville. Kathryn Ann "Kate" Shumaker, 92, of Punxsutawney, passed away at the home of her daughter on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023. She was born in Snyderville, Armstrong County, on Jan. 26, 1931, a daughter of the late George William Walker and Laura Elizabeth (Zimmerman) Walker. On Jan. 26, 1951, she married Fred Pritner Shumaker. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2015. Kate will be remembered for always putting others before herself. She was loving, generous, kind and always had a gentle smile. She was a hard worker and could be feisty when provoked. She was a loving mother and grandmother. The last precious days of her life were spent surrounded by those who loved her dearly. She is survived by four children, Fred David (Suzanne) Shumaker of Rossiter, Randal M. (Kim) Shumaker of Florida, Susan (Larry Butler) Shumaker of Punxsutawney, and Robb Scott (Brooke) Shumaker of Punxsutawney; 11 grandchildren, Kelly Scott Smith, Shawn Allen Smith, Shannon Smith, Shane Smith, Tonya Milton, Tenelle Dienes, Dr. Kelly Smith, Jodi Presloid, Jackie Rosian, Tiffany Yount and Alex Shumaker; and numerous great-grandchildren.
