Funeral services for Mr. Carl Wayne Jones will be held at 2 p. m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, in the Hunt Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 10:30 a. m. until service time. Carl Wayne Jones of Bradford, TN left this earth unexpectedly on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the age of 69, at Henderson County Community Hospital. Wayne was born on March 13, 1954, as the middle of three children to Carl Eugene and Jeweldene Jones in Memphis, TN. He worked much of his life as a printer for CharCon, World Color, and eventually for himself as owner of Skullbone Printing in Bradford, TN. Later in life, he drove a school bus for Bradford Special School District, delivering kids to and from school and many extracurricular activities. He was a proud fan of Bradford basketball, Union University basketball, and Tennessee football, and he could often be found fishing, hunting, and camping with his friends, children, and grandchildren. He faithfully attended several churches over his life including Shiloh Baptist Church of Bradford, TN, Northside Baptist and New Haven Baptist Churches of Milan, TN, and, at the time of his passing, he enjoyed listening to sermons from Pathways Church in Sevierville, TN. Wayne loved to chat and talked to just about anyone about nearly anything. He enjoyed hearing jokes and loved telling them even more. He seemed to be an encyclopedia of funny stories. Conversations with him always began and ended with a laugh or smile. He never met a stranger and spent much of his free time helping friends and neighbors with odd jobs like fixing boats and working on houses. He would help in any situation and make time even when he didn’t have it. To know Wayne was to love him. He was comfortable to be around and genuinely desired to be present with those he loved. Those who remain to carry on his legacy and wisdom are his children David (Faine) Williams, Amanda (Joshua) Hall, Amy (Weston) Gentry, and Kaitlyn Jones, his grandchildren Hazel and Grayson Hall, Elijah and Carla Eve Gentry, his sisters Sherry Newsom and Debra Brown, and his loving partner Teresa Wilson. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Jeweldene Jones. Hunt Funeral Home is proud to serve the family of Carl Wayne Jones.Show more

Billy Herndon

Age - 80

July 6, 2023

Billy Howard Herndon was born on November 26, 1942, as the only child of the late J. B. Herndon and mother, Bertha Hickman-Herndon. He passed away on June 20, 2023, at his home where he was surrounded by his family, at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dean Herndon; one daughter, Carla Herndon-Hurst; one grandson, Ryan Hurst, and Joshua Hurst, who he considered to be a grandson; and an extensive family of spiritual brothers and sisters, many beloved friends, family members, and co-workers. Billy was born at home in the Idlewild community, where he remained all his life, caring for his family and the property that was passed down to him from his family 150 years earlier. With the birth of his daughter, Billy focused on providing stability for his family. He began a lifelong study of the Bible in 1969 and was baptized as one of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1972, serving faithfully for years until the end of his life. He began work at Foamex in 1969 and continued there for 35 years, providing for his family, and gathering many friends along the way. After retirement, he worked at Co-op where he was affectionately called "Billy Tank" because of the tanker equipment he drove. He was a humble man who gained the respect of all who knew him. His grandson, Ryan, was so precious to him. Billy spent many hours helping him appreciate the beauty of nature. Together, they fed the cows, rode the tractor, and topped it off with Billy’s favorite thing, eating ice cream after a hard day’s work. He truly loved his family, friends, and neighbors and will be deeply missed by all. Memorial services for Billy Howard Herndon will be held at 2:30 p. m. on Sunday July 9, 2023, at the Humboldt Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with David Gilliland officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 1:30 p. m. until service time. 3 Nicolas Rd. Humboldt, TN, 38343 Hunt Funeral Home is proud to serve the family of Billy Howard Herndon.
