Traci Hood

Traci Hood

Age - 57

November 9, 2023

Traci Renee Hood, 57, went to be with Jesus in the early hours of Wednesday, November 8, 2023 surrounded by family at home in Surgoinsville, TN due to complications from breast cancer. Traci was born Monday, March 14, 1966, in Kingsport, TN to parents Phil Crawford and Carolyn Hobbs. A graduate of Sullivan North High School in 1984, Traci began a successful career at Eastman Chemical Company before turning eighteen years of age. Her career would span 15 years until 1998, when she retired to focus on what mattered to her most: her family. Traci married husband Ronnie Hood on August 4, 1992 after a short courtship. They went on to a loving 31-year marriage. Upon marrying, they became a family of five as she welcomed Brandi, Kelli, and Ashley as her daughters. The family grew to six when she gave birth to son Sean-Thomas Hood in February 1994. She was faithful and constant as a mother, and she made sure her children knew to put each other first as a family. Even in the midst of uncertainty and adversity, she was a rock; always there for those fortunate enough to call her wife, daughter, sister, mom, and Grandmomma. She loved her eight grandchildren immensely. Some of her favorite times of her life were spent keeping them. Traci was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She gave her life to the Lord at age 12 and re-dedicated her life to Him at a tent revival at age 28. Traci was happiest that she was able to see all four of her children baptized. It was heavy on Traci's heart that the family restart their church in Pattonsville, VA to grow the Kingdom of God. She worked tirelessly to prepare the churchouse and named their church herself, "The Lord's House on Red Hill. " Her love of the Lord was strong and faithful, and she wanted others to experience this with her. Known affectionately by family as the "animal whisperer," Traci loved her dogs and cats, as well as wildlife around her home. If a dog or cat would show up at the house, she would never turn them away. When living on the family farm, she also became very close to the pigs - so much so that they would follow her everywhere she went. Traci was also an excellent gardener and enjoyed preserving foods for her family. When it came to her garden, she let nothing go to waste. Traci enjoyed preparing flowers for each season and was a wonderful decorator for the holidays. This perfectly exemplified her infectious personality shining bright for others to see. Traci is preceded in death by grandparents Jack & Irene Crawford and Raymond & Margaret Strickler, step-mother P. Gail Vaughan, and mother-in-law Sharon Hood. Traci is survived by her husband of 31 years Ronnie Hood, daughters Brandi Hood, Kelli France and husband Derrick, Ashley Kincer and husband Matt, son Sean-Thomas Hood and wife Shealyn, eight beautiful grandchildren Mallori, Coleton, Landrey, Nora, Dean, Grant, Griffin, and Emmylou, parents Phil Crawford and Carolyn Hobbs, sister Jill Mashburn, brother Brent Crawford and wife Jennifer, special Aunt Linda Crigger and husband Charles, and special friends David & Rhonda Hood, Garry & Debbie Hood, and Kwan Tipton. Traci was the most loving, tender-hearted, and steadfast person in the world, and she will be missed more than she could ever know. But we know she is now with "her Jesus. " The family would like to extend a special thank you to her hospice nurses of Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice, especially nurses Carrie & Whitney. The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA. Services will be held at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Garry Hood and Pastor Timothy Vercellono officiating. Music will be provided by The Hood Family. Interment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport, TN. Pallbearers will be Sean-Thomas Hood, Coleton Hall, Phil Crawford, Brent Crawford, Derrick France and Matt Kincer. Honorary pallbearers will be Mallori France, Landrey France, Nora Kincer, Dean Kincer, Grant Kincer, Griffin Kincer and Emmylou Hood.
